Chapter 31 Fate God?!

"Oh, it was easy. I just…"

[A Certain Fate God Awakens!]

[You've Been Chosen as a Fate Envoy!]

"FUCK….or not?!" Jack stared wide-eyed at the message. A fate Envoy, not THE Fate Envoy?! He excitedly opened his status screen, trying to figure out what this was.

Unlock Fate Envoy Title [Y/N?]

+ U Tier Fate Seeing Eye!

+ F Tier Wisdom Impartation!

+ Increased Affinity with Fate!

The more he read, the more interesting this was getting. The Fate Seeing Eye was a Unique grade ONLY available to the title Wielders.

But that wasn't the most important. For once, this wasn't a slavery offer! So there were gods like that too?!

"Y-you…did you receive an offer from the Fate God?!" The Old Ghost chimed in. After all, Jack was tapping the air while grinning. "Hurry, and accept! You can't let this one pass!"

"Hmm, I'm still verifying if there are any drawbacks," Jack explained.

Hearing this, the poor Teacher almost wanted to smash his student's head into the wall! Didn't he know that getting a Godly Offer was near impossible?!

But as Jack observed more and more, he finally noticed the catch. "Affinity with Fate" would definitely bring Fate-related Events to his life. But he couldn't tell just yet whether that was a good thing or not.

He glanced at the tent ceiling as if trying to see the firmament.

"Fate God, was it? I'll accept but with one condition! I'll decide my own Fate. I'll be the Master of my destiny, I'll live as I see fit and die as I want, for I am…."

The more he kept going, the more heated his voice became. What started as a murmur ended up as a thundering proclamation as if a legendary hero!

"For I am, Jack MF Bri—"

"Kid… you know most of that stuff's automated, right?" The Old Ghost remarked, sighing as he explained.

"You don't really think that Gods personally watch over everything in this world, right? They're not that bored. You better find an altar if you want to talk to the Fate God."

Jack choked. So much for his glorious speech…

[Ding! You Have One Week to Accept or Decline the Title!]

[Would You Like To Postpone the Selection?]

Yes! Why make a life-changing decision now when he could do so in a week? More importantly, he'd be stronger and even more valuable to the Fate God by then. This could be a bargaining chip!

"Alright, we'll have to find a Fate Temple soon then…. In the meantime, shall we get ourselves a few more Underground Scouts?" Jack gleefully chuckled.

"Y-you… you really want to bargain with a god?!"

"Of course! Do you take me for a pushover?"

Hearing Jack's confident voice, the Ghost questioned the youngster's common sense. If he was called a pushover, then what were the other kids his age…

Thus, they kept proceeding with the Divination Service. What had recently been a source of ridicule suddenly became a hot commodity everyone desired!

Thanks to this popularity, every time Jack dropped the "You should check the Underground" line, his gullible victims would swear to follow his advice.

Then once they made enough people stray from the right path and with LOTS of gold in their pockets, the party finally ended their day of Divination.

"Sigh. Who knew spouting bullshit all day long was that tiring." Jack murmured, the old Ghost coughing blood: he had given most of the advice! But before he could protest…

"Woo! Woo!" (Master, it worked, it worked!)

The little foxes were coming back in a hurry. They had managed to crack the Underground Code! Not only did they know where it was, but they also knew all the passwords!

At this moment, they felt so proud. They had followed their respective targets to perfection! They were unrivaled for spying… as long as the orders were simple!

"Perfect, finally!"

Jack praised them enthusiastically.

Then he hurriedly put on a show as the "Divination Master" again. Cheers echoed as he exited the tent, and a few people even begged him for another live reading.

Some well-informed people had even taken a day off from work to witness the Great Master. Their eyes all glowed with expectation as if stars. What would he do this time?!

He opened his arms widely and…

"Thank you all for coming. We're done for the week; take care!" Before they could react, he had dismantled the tent in one fell swoop and gone away.

"I-is that it?!"

"I've been waiting in line for 2 hours!"

"Hey, this can't be?! Come back! Master, come back, please!"

The crowd was getting unbelievably frenzied, but Jack was long gone, his shadow disappearing in an alleyway. Yet, amidst the chaos, a man cheekily replied to the crowd:

"May you wait successfully or waste your time; a path is only worth threading if it's one's decision. Thus is Waiting in Line, and thus is Fate!" He chuckled, adapting Jack's words.

But as he gazed at the nearby alleyway, his smile became incredibly mysterious… after all, the notification before his eyes truly was phenomenal.

[Fate Envoy Invitation Pending!]

[You Will Be Notified if the User Accepts!]

"Someone so well versed in the Laws of Fate… who is yet to become an apostle. Interesting, how interesting! Let's see how you'll fare, young one—"

The man kept chuckling, a nearby fox shaking its head slightly. Had all those humans gone insane? Oh well, it would keep watch, as per its wise Master's orders…

As for Jack, he was far too busy infiltrating the Underground. One of its entrances was actually a hospital!

— Knock! Knock! Knock! —

"Welcome. What brings you here?" A young and pretty nurse smiled at him radiantly. She was like a breath of fresh air, the entire world undeserving of such a delicate flower.

To which Jack confidently answered…

"Erectile dysfunction AND explosive diarrhea!"

The young nurse's face cramped, the atmosphere turning awkward. What the heck was up with this medical condition?! This was the third today!

As he felt the pretty nurse's judging and disgusted gaze, Jack seriously wondered who the heck came up with those Underground passwords!

He was sent to a medical care room, but instead of a doctor, a masked man entered. As soon as he saw Jack's (and Fox) getup, he nodded approvingly.

"Nice! With that disguise, no one will even know you're human! Now, without further ado, welcome to the Underground!"

That's when a passageway opened in the wall…
