Chapter 188 – Cat Dad Doesn’t Stick It in Crazies

Chapter 188 – Cat Dad Doesn’t Stick It in Crazies

After two hours of flying, Xiaomao could finally see the Korean Peninsula. From the sky, the midnight lights of the streets and buildings were still bright. Even though most residential areas and shops already closed down for the night, many districts were still active, and people were still wandering around.

Fortunately, no drunkards and nightshift workers paid attention to the sky at night. Xiaomao managed to get close without being detected.

Still, metropolitan cities had too many CCTV cameras. Xiaomao was afraid that he might be found and traced by the local government.

For the sake of his safety, Xiaomao flew away from the cities. He headed south, taking a detour around the peninsula.

After another hour of detour, Xiaomao reached Jeju Island. He bypassed the populated area around the shore and landed at the center of the island – Hallasan Mountain.

The mountain at night was silent and dark. No human-made street light or building was around, which was a perfect hiding place. Even if it was a famous touring spot, no sane person would hike at night and find him here.

But there was a problem. The mountain was isolated from civilizations, so Xiaomao could not find a good place to sleep or settle down.

“As if I need a home. WORLD JUMP!”

DING

Xiaomao marked the place on Earth and returned to the game world.

WHOOSH

Xiaomao in his human form returned to the dungeon boss room. He immediately looked around.

The four retainers were still in the same place, meditating and sweating feces-smelling impurities out of their pores. Nearby, five mermaids took turns summoning breezy wind, blowing the nasty smell away from the boss room.

Undine was also there. When Xiaomao appeared, she recognized him right away.

“Your human form is quite charming, Xiaomao.”

Xiaomao wryly smiled, “Are you wooing me?”

“Woo you?” Undine faintly grinned, “If I really wanted you, I would have dragged you to the sanctuary and sealed you there already.”

“Err… Are all mermaids barbaric?”

“Not really. We simply keep the desirable prospects in our residents. Then, when we’re in mating season, we do the thing until we have enough seeds for our children.”

“…”

Xiaomao’s face paled. He thought of the meme comic, which was the origin of the snu-snu death.

As if Undine could read Xiaomao’s mind, she revealed more disturbing detail.

“In most cases, the male died from exhaustion. Only the strong ones survived to do it again next year.”

“…”

Xiaomao made up his mind. He would not stick it in any mermaid, EVER!

After teasing Xiaomao enough, Undine waved her hand and operated her game system menu.

DING

<You have completed the Faction Quest: Relocating Operation Base.>

<You have gained 1,000,000,000 EXP.>

<Your Level has reached 165!>

<You have gained 10,000,000 Contribution EXP!>

<Your Contribution Level has reached 17!>

Xiaomao gazed at the notification message windows and sighed. Most of his EXP came from quests and big fights. Aside from the gnoll dungeon, he didn’t even fight mobs for EXP and items anymore.

‘I’m playing a grindy MMO, but I gained levels through quests and connections. What a life.’

He rechecked his stats. But before he could allocate his new attributes, Undine gave him a card.

“Lady Chang’e told me to give you this when you come back. I assume that you have completed her mission.”

Xiaomao nodded and took the card. He looked at the detail.

Name: Sung Nabi

Birth: May 17th, 2007

It was a fake ID card with the full ID number, address, and new identity. The birth date was the same as his real birthday. However, Xiaomao frowned when he saw his new name.

The fake name sounded like a girl’s name!

“Who came up with this?”

Undine covered her mouth, but her eyes were smiling. She turned around, and her shoulders trembled.

“It’s Lady Chang’e. I’m sorry, Xiaomao.”

“…”

Xiaomao put the new ID in his inventory. He rested his hands on his hips and softly grumbled.

“Alright. What’s the next task? Rather, what’s the next errand?”

As Xiaomao already prepared for running around to help the Mermaid Kingdom, he asked for the next quest right away. After all, faction quests yielded a lot more EXP than hunting in a dungeon.

Undine turned around. Her face was still red, and the corners of her mouth were still twitching from the laughter earlier. She resumed her pokerface, but her weird smile annoyed Xiaomao.

“For now, there is no instruction from Lady Chang’e. If you want to contribute to our cause, how about you start raiding towns and kill some of Pangu’s supporters?”

DING

<Hint: Guild Members and Guild Leaders of a faction can freely attack towns and settlements of players and NPCs of the hostile factions. Karma penalty may occur if you attack defenseless townsmen, children, or elders.>

<Hint: As a catopus under a chaos demon faction, killing fellow feline creatures in the same faction is a taboo act. Cathulhus will warn you if you accidentally kill one. But after the second offense, they will arrest and judge you according to the Cathulhu Laws.>

Finally, the mermaids and the powerhouse NPCs allowed Xiaomao to freely roam the game world.

Xiaomao pursed his lips. Without a general direction from the seniors, he didn’t know what to do next. But a few seconds later, he smacked his forehead, reminding himself that he was not a dependent player but a regressor.

What do regressors do in novels? They gather goodies that other top players found in their previous lives!

Using that as a guideline, Xiaomao closed his eyes and tried to think of what items and perks top superhumans before the regression got in the game.

The first thing that came to Xiaomao’s mind was the PVP tournament. Spartan Guild participated in the Guild PVP and won the first prize. Narukami Hiiro from World One won the first Immortal League and expanded the gap between him and other players. As for the winner of the minor league, Wei Zhi claimed the title.

Xiaomao couldn’t do anything to Narukami Hiiro since his level would be over 1,000 in the tournament. As for Wei Zhi, Xiaomao didn’t need to interfere with her fate. The remaining option was to snatch the grand prize from the Spartan Guild in the Guild War tournament.

Thinking of the guild war tournament, Xiaomao got a clear goal. With that in mind, Xiaomao started planning for the event.

He looked at the list of his guild members. There weren’t enough fighters since he would need a hundred members to join.

“Senior, about my guild members, can I borrow some of the mermen to join my guild for a week? After that, I’ll return them to you.”

“Oh, sure. How many men do you need?”

“93.”

As Undine remembered the number of MUNYA Guild’s roster, she figured out what he wanted to do.

“Filling the member slots for the tournament you told me about?”

“Yes. I need them for the tournament. But I probably won’t use them in the fight unless necessary.”

“Alright. I’ll gather them for you. Come to the Cernun Island’s front beach at noon tomorrow.”

“Thank you, senior.”

Undine and Xiaomao continued to chat for a while before Xiaomao excused himself and returned to the treasure room to sleep.

Lucky, Nyanko, and Mama Cat were still there. When they saw Xiaomao, the trio welcomed him back.

“I’m home,” Xiaomao petted the cats and Lucky.

The Next Day, 8 AM

Xiaomao stretched and yawned, waking up from a good night’s sleep. He moved out of the mattress and sheets, which he and Lucky had used to make a temporary bed.

While being in the naked human form, Xiaomao walked toward a tank of water, which the mermaids had brought here as the water source for the cats. He poured some on his face and used a small towel to soak it in the water. Then, Xiaomao cleaned his body with it.

After Xiaomao woke up, Lucky, who was also in her birthday suit, was also up. She looked at her master and fidgeted, recalling the wild night.

“Master, you’re a beast.”

“…”

Xiaomao no longer cared about his virginity oath. Since he did it once, it wasn’t hurt to do it again with the same woman if he was determined to take responsibility. After all, Lucky’s loyalty status was always 100%, so she wouldn’t betray him anyway.

Though, Xiaomao hoped that Lucky wasn’t one of the crazies.

“Between my current form and the cat form, which one do you prefer?”

“Both are fantastic, master.”

“…”

Xiaomao put on his clothes. He restocked the food supplies in the treasure room and left Lucky to take care of the cats as usual.

“I’m off to work. I’ll be back to expand our home soon.”

“Please bring back the beds from the frigate, master. We can’t sleep on the floor forever.”

“Alright.”

WHOOSH

The treasure door was opened, and Xiaomao entered the boss room. While in his human form, he blinked and closed his eyes to check his synchronization stats. He clearly saw the system menu and the report of his sync rate.

<Synchronization Rate: 60%>

By maintaining his human form when he was inactive, Xiaomao’s synchronization rate drastically rose. He clenched his hands, feeling like he had grasped a new trick.

‘Good. I’ll just keep doing this. When I’m going out on an adventure, I’ll use my game character. When I’m resting or doing nothing, I’ll return to this human form to increase the rating.’

Xiaomao looked ahead. The four apostles were no longer in sight.

Curious about what had happened to the boys, Xiaomao checked his retainer status. Strangely, there were a series of reports, regarding Shepherd.

<Shepherd has been attacked by Magdalene. He is knocked unconscious.>

<Shepherd has been abducted to the Fairy Kingdom.>

<Shepherd has officially married Magdalene in front of the Fairy Queen.>

<Shepherd has been attacked by Magdalene X 163.>

<Shepherd has fainted from exhaustion.>

<Shepherd has been attacked by Magdalene X 104.>

<Shepherd has fainted from exhaustion.>

<Shepherd is incapacitated because of overworking.>

<Fairy Queen has resurrected Shepherd.>

<Fairy Queen has arrested Magdalene for torturing her husband.>

<Shepherd has fled the Fairy Kingdom.>

This low-key protagonist seemed to be in a predicament. However, judging from the reports, Xiaomao didn’t need to save him.

It was obvious what ATTACKED referred to.

“RIP, my dude. This is why you don’t stick it in crazies.”
