Chapter 184 Cat Dad’s Political Dilemma

Chapter 184 – Cat Dad’s Political Dilemma

DING

<You have registered a new guild!>

Xiaomao admired the new tab in his game menu – the Guild Menu. He finally completed the initial goal that he had in mind.

.

<strong>General Information</strong>

<strong>Guild Name:</strong> MUNYA

<strong>Faction:</strong> Mermaid Kingdom

<strong>Guild Level:</strong> 1

<strong>Guild Members:</strong> 1/100

<strong>Guild Master:</strong> Xiaomao

.

Just by asking Undine, she completed the guild registration within seconds. She didn’t need any documents as Karen did.

The faction info, however, was automatically set to the Mermaid Kingdom. After all, Xiaomao was now an official citizen of the Mermaid Kingdom.

The next step was to invite people to join his guild.

Xiaomao turned to his retainers. However, they were still in the middle of cultivating.

Since the crew was busy, Xiaomao opened the status menu of his retainers and pressed the guild invite button to bring them to his guild.

DING

<Peter S. Fisher has joined MUNYA Guild.>

<James Greatman has joined MUNYA Guild.>

<John Preacher has joined MUNYA Guild.>

<Andrew has joined MUNYA Guild.>

<Shepherd has joined MUNYA Guild.>

<Lucky has joined MUNYA Guild.>

All six retainers were automatically added to the member list without their consent. Upon pressing the buttons, their names appeared in the guild member roster, and their names had a prefix, [MUNYA], in front of their name.

Xiaomao looked at Mimir and Taotie’s names in his party member list. He tried inviting them.

DING

<Mimir is unreachable.>

<Taotie is unreachable.>

“Huh?”

This was the first time Xiaomao had seen this message. He pursed his lips and scratched his head in confusion.

He looked at Undine, tempting to invite her to join his guild. However, judging from her demeanor and strength, she might not accept it.

Since Xiaomao didn’t dare to ask Undine, he asked Nymph instead.

DING

<Nameless Nymph has rejected your invitation.>

Instantly, Xiaomao was shut down. He was disappointed.

A few seconds later, Xiaomao heard Nymph’s voice in his mind.

‘Sorry, kitty. I have a duty to oversee the sanctuary and the safe zone in your dungeon. But if you need urgent guild members, I’ll transfer some workers to help you. How about it?’

Xiaomao was relieved. At least, Nymph didn’t reject him because she didn’t like his guild.

“If you can allocate about 50 mermen, this will help me a lot, munya!”

‘Okay! By the way, what do you need them for? Labor job?’

“Err, there will be a cross-world event in a few days, munya. I need some mercenaries and fighters to join me in the upcoming guild war, munya.”

‘Guild war, you say?!’

WHOOSH

As if Nymph could teleport, she instantly appeared next to Undine. She was still carrying a trident, which pierced into the skin of a large-scale eel with two bat wings.

The eel wiggled its body and tail, trying to escape and flee from Nymph. Xiaomao also looked up and saw the level of the eel.

<strong>Demonic Eel, Level 950</strong>

“…”

Xiaomao coughed and looked at Undine, who stared at Xiaomao with interest.

“Can you tell us the detail, Xiaomao?” Asked Undine.

“Yes, munya.”

.

Xiaomao proceeded to explain the major event.

In a few days, there would be three tournaments, where players and NPCs from three game worlds could join, meet, and compete for grand prizes. However, a player could only join one.

The first tournament, aka Immortal Tournament, belonged to immortals and top players whose levels were higher than 1,000. Unfortunately, the website clearly stated that if there were not enough players to join this tournament, the game would automatically select random NPCs with a similar level to fill in the tournament roster.

In Xiaomao’s previous life, the Immortal Tournament was considered the major league of big boys. Top superhumans, rankers, professional gamers, and rich players monopolized this event’s prizes and tournament slots.

The second tournament was similar to a minor league. Only players under level 1,000 could join, and no NPC could participate in this event. The prize was less than the Immortal League, but the competition was as fierce.

The last tournament was exclusive for guilds. The prize pool was the most generous among all tournaments as the event was created to garner billionaires, politicians, oil barons, and cartels around the world. Investors and influential people created their guilds and recruited top players to be their pawns. Then, they sent them to compete in this tournament to win prizes that no ordinary player, including rankers and professional gamers, could obtain in the game.

Xiaomao set his eyes on the guild war tournament. Even though this world was not a digital game, he still needed items that Pangu Universe Incorporate had created to get ahead of others.

.

After listening to the brief summary of the event, Undine shook her head.

“It’s too risky. Pangu and Nian might be responsible for this event, and we might get trapped if we join. We can’t take chances.”

Nymph also rubbed her brows, “Xiaomao, don’t join the tournament. It sus as hell.”

Xiaomao bitterly smiled. He knew that Pangu and Nian could easily kill him if he joined, but he still needed to compete to keep up with the other players, who might later join Pangu Faction and threaten Earth. Otherwise, Pangu’s followers and their factions’ strength would overpower the Mermaid Kingdom and the Chaos Demon God’s factions, which might not bond well for the future of Earth and World Three.

No matter what, cultivators from all three worlds had to be weakened before the first invasion.

Thinking about the invasion, Xiaomao also had a headache. Sometimes, he wondered if he had joined the right side. Xiaomao contemplated each faction’s goal and what they would do in the future.

.

<strong>Pangu Faction’s Goals:</strong> Dominate Earth and World Three through brainwashing, kill Chaos Demons, Mao Miaomiao, and Chaos Seraphim.

<strong>Nian’s Goal:</strong> Kill Xiaomao, support Pangu Faction, and curse NPCs?

<strong>Chang’e Faction’s Goal:</strong> Protect World Three’s citizens and suppress Pangu’s supporting factions.

<strong>Tlaloc Faction’s Goal:</strong> Kill all Pangu’s supporters, brainwash citizens of World Three, and destroy Earth.

<strong>Asgard Faction’s Goal:</strong> Kill Mao Miaomiao and Xiaomao?

.

Out of the available choices, Pangu, Nian, Tlaloc, and Asgard were never an option. Even though Pangu might be raising superhumans to protect Earth from Tlaloc, he also schemed to strip humanity’s free will and freedom. Moreover, Asgard had a feud with Xiaomao’s mysterious father, so he couldn’t join them.

The available choice was Chang’e. Still, Xiaomao didn’t know what they would do to Earth if they learned that humans were a threat to World Three.

“I still have to go, munya. There is no other way, or the world is doomed.”

“Are you sure?” Undine frowned.

“To be honest, I’m not sure, munya. Maybe, Pangu is probably doing his best to protect Earth in his own ways, perhaps? But I don’t like how he plans to mind-control everybody to do his biddings, munya.”

Undine solemnly gazed at Xiaomao. She glanced at Nymph and looked at him again.

“What if I tell you that Lady Chang’e and her husband want your world destroyed?”

“That…”

Xiaomao gulped. If that were the case, everything he had done so far would have been meaningless.

Undine sighed. She patted him. Then, she turned around to look at one of the statues in the boss room.

Suddenly, a silhouette of a cat emerged from the shadow of a statue, and an orange cat came out to the surface.

The orange cat smiled and walked toward Xiaomao.

Xiaomao widened his eyes and stared at the cat, whom he had been protecting in the real world for months.

“Mir!”

Mew (It has been a while, hooman.)

Xiaomao glanced at Mir’s level. Again, it was shown as five question marks.

“So, you are a god of this world, munya?”

Mew (Not really. I’m just a loyal servant of an entity.)

Xiaomao no longer treated Mir as one of his pets anymore. He looked straight into her eyes and asked her directly.

“What is Mu-Nyang’s goal? What are you two planning to do with the Earth and this world, munya?”

Mir giggled. She stopped meowing but talking in a human language.

“Can you handle the karma?”

“I’ve already made a lot of enemies. What’re the differences if another hostile god might notice my karma, munya?”

“There are hundreds of sages and gods that want your father dead, you know? Exposing your karma is not a good idea.”

“Isn’t my karma hidden now, munya? Can a sage, a god, or whatever entity detect my presence through karma?”

“Hmm.”

Mir narrowed her eyes. Then, she shook her head, “You’re still na?ve. I can still read your karma just fine. Lord Mu-Nyang’s blessing only makes you hard to detect, but former sages like me can still read your karma as long as I can see your face.”

“…”

“My advice is – Forget the Earth, hooman. Migrate to this world and become one of its population. You do not belong on Earth.”

“What about my human parents, munya?!” Xiaomao started to get impatient. He didn’t like Mir’s tone.

“You wanna know the truth? This might break you.”

“Tell me!”

“Okay,” Mir grinned. She opened her mouth and tried to speak.

RUMBLE

Suddenly, Mir collapsed to the floor and vanished while Undine and Nymph immediately prostrated toward the statues.

One of the statues turned around. A transparent being slowly climbed down from the pedestal as if a spirit of the statue wanted to leave the host.

A hologram of a gorgeous mermaid, who looked exactly like the golems in this room, looked at everybody. Then, a certain white cat climbed on top of the mermaid’s head and obnoxiously smiled at Undine and Mir.

Mu-Nyang smirked like a villain, baring his upper fangs.

Munya! (Wassup, bitches! Having a heart-to-heart talk with my boy, I assume?)

Mir, Undine, and Nymph lowered their heads toward Mu-Nyang, showing their utmost respect.

“Mu-Nyang!” Xiaomao was taken aback to see Mu-Nyang with the mermaid.

Munya! (Oh, hi, Xiaomao. I overheard the conversation, and I think it’s about time to tell you a piece of bad news.)

“What? Rather, what are you doing? Where are you, munya?!”

Munya-Munya (It’s kinda ironic to see you meowing like me. But hey, it’s irrelevant to the topic.)

“…”

Munya! (Are you ready for the truth or the bad news first, Xiaomao?)

“Tell me both!”

MUNYA! (OKAY! Don’t blame me for being merciless!)
