Chapter 121 Cat Dad and Mao Miaomiao

Chapter 121 – Cat Dad and Mao Miaomiao

Cernun Island

Ten thousand fairies played in the flower field. Most of them gathered around a lone white tree, hidden deep in the forest.

South of the forest, white-robbed cultists knelt in front of a mini-statue of a standing crocodile. They groveled and prayed to Cernun, who had left for businesses elsewhere. The 10 prisoners that Shepherd brought here joined the group of people.

They were former support characters, whom Cernun and Shepherd had rescued. Now, they gained their freedom, but they couldn’t return to society.

They were afraid of players.

While they were busy praying, the cultists’ god was meeting his friend in the sea, north of the island.

500 meters north of the island, there was an underwater trench, which was 10,000 meters deep and 2,000 meters in width, enough for giant creatures like Cernun to be in there.

At the bottom of the trench was an outpost of the Mermaid Kingdom. Cernun swam in the front of the underwater outpost city and gazed at an agile Cathulhu, who was chasing after a shining Megalodon.

Cernun sighed, “Lord Meowmeow, could you stop playing around for a second? I thought you invited me here for a talk.”

The massive orange Cathulhu, who had a similar appearance to an overgrown catopus with additional tentacles, stopped bullying the shark. His wide glowing eyes looked at the sea crocodile and smiled.

“Munya? I haven’t swum in the sea for 5,000 years. Can’t you let me enjoy a bit, munya?”

“Pangu will soon attack our kingdoms and our people. You can play around after we deal with Pangu’s goons.”

“Meh, boring. Pangu can’t possibly defeat Lord Mu-Nyang, munya.”

Cernun took a deep breath. His expression turned solemn.

Mu-Nyang was the original Chaos Seraphim, who was also the sovereign of all Chaos Demon Gods and Chaos Demon Goddesses. However, all second-generation Chaos Demon Goddesses served Mu-Nyang’s successor, and they often didn’t agree to the first generation’s culture and philosophy.

Cernun tossed the matter of Mu-Nyang to the back of his head. He warned Meowmeow.

“Xiaomao is one of this generation’s main characters according to Lord Mu-Nyang’s revelation. He confessed to me that he’s a regressor. In his original timeline, I died.”

The giant Cathulhu’s eyes became round, “MUNYA?! We’re not in the original timeline?!”

“I’m afraid so. Things are more complicated than we’ve imagined. Either Xiaomao’s info was wrong or he might have foreseen the future through karma memory. It’s impossible for us to be in the duplicated timeline after the universe has been reset.”

Meowmeow, the Cathulhu, rubbed his chin with ten of his tentacles while another one scratched the top of his head. The orange cat was confused.

The Cathulhu’s tentacles moved around for a minute. After a long pause, Meowmeow clapped his long arms.

“Aha, munya! If Xiaomao is the protagonist of this generation, we can help him, right?”

“Of course. That’s why I’ve been helping his retainers.”

“Then, we have nothing to worry about, munya!”

“Why?”

“I just gave him the thing that we got from the beta test period, munya!”

Cernun raised his brows. He didn’t fight alongside their masters when the beta test period happened, and he only learned about the events through Chang’e. Hearing it from Meowmeow, who served both Mu-Nyang and the second-generation Chaos Seraphim, Mao Miaomiao, might be different.

“Can you tell me what happened there?”

“Of course, munya!”

.

Xiaomao lay on his bed, taking a power nap after doing the chore. When he woke up, he rested his forearm on his forehead, reminiscing the strange dream.

In Xiaomao’s dream, he was an Oni child, who always followed his Oni mother around. The mother was a blond beauty with two short horns, and she managed the mansion where they lived.

His father was a cheating husband. He had so many wives and children, and his mother always complained to the father about his sexual misconduct.

Xiaomao disliked his father.

Fortunately, the mother and father always reconciled. The father sometimes visited Xiaomao and checked on him, presenting him with strange gifts, such as herb pills, toys, and training dummies.

Xiaomao never appreciated them. He kept clinging to his mother, refusing to talk with his father.

But one day, a demon appeared and forced his mother and him to migrate somewhere. Then, everybody got separated, and he couldn’t see his father and mother again.

Xiaomao still remembered the parents in his dream.

“Mao Miaomiao… Wei Yuan…”

Xiaomao frowned. The father’s name coincided with the famous NPC from the second world. In addition, his mother had the same surname as Wei Zhi.

‘I must be crazy, munya! Why is he my father? He will wage war against all players and the entire game world after the cross-server event. That second world will be flipped upside down, and players will migrate to the first and third world. At least ten thousand innocent gamers will die because of him! Someone like him can’t be my father!’

Xiaomao sat up and opened his laptop. He checked the local news to follow the movements of Mao Miaomiao.

<Mao Miaomiao’s background, a typical young master antagonist?>

<Mao Miaomiao’s absurd cultivation method. Is he an immortal or a 9th-stage cultivator?>

<What are Mao Clan and the Celestial Sword Sect’s relationship?>

Articles popped up as Xiaomao used the name of this NPC as the keyword. However, Xiaomao was disappointed. No matter how hard he searched, he couldn’t find any detail about the city in his dream and Mao Miaomiao’s connection to the city.

Xiaomao leaned against his chair, thinking of the hometown’s name in his dream. He wondered if it was a coincidence.

“Siren City… Isn’t that the capital city of the Yuan Empire?”

PA!

Xiaomao smacked his forehead with his palm, blaming himself for overthinking.

‘That must be a stupid dream. Obviously, I’m addicted to this game! Forget it, brain. Let’s think of something more useful other than that NPC.’

Xiaomao looked at the clock. It was 9 PM.

He had been out of the game for three hours after the last session. However, Xiaomao didn’t regret doing so.

By closing his eyes, he could see the progress of his synchronization rate. It was now 18%, which had improved by a lot.

‘Alright. This system works. I just need to maintain the balance between the gaming and the real world, and my sync rate will go up faster!’

Xiaomao jumped into the game capsule. He turned on the game right away.

But he forgot to turn off the notebook.

After Xiaomao had entered the game, Mu-Nyang opened the door and walked into the room as usual.

Upon seeing that the computer was on, Mu-Nyang smirked. He jumped on the desk and browsed the game’s website.

When Mu-Nyang saw Mao Miaomiao’s articles and screenshot, he cackled.

“Damn Miaomiao. You’re having fun, I see, munya!”
