Chapter 68 Cat Dad’s Final Destination Experience

Chapter 68 – Cat Dad’s Final Destination Experience

A young man and a cat went to school together. Mu-Nyang sat on Xiaomao’s shoulder like how the latter always sat on Shepherd or Lucky.

Xiaomao arrived at the school early. He put a sports bag, which contained spare clothes, a towel, sports drinks, and light snacks. He looked at the clock on his phone.

6.45 AM

“Am I late?”

The appointed time was 7 AM. However, Xiaomao couldn’t see anyone in front of the school.

As Xiaomao couldn’t see anyone, he petted Mu-Nyang, who was enjoying the outdoor wind.

“What time will it happen?”

Munya! (Very soon!)

“Then, should I stay home?”

Munya! (No. Staying home today is bad, too! Staying out is the right choice!)

Xiaomao narrowed his eyes. Earlier, Mu-Nyang warned him about the unbelievable threats.

Xiaomao was not the type to believe in fortune-telling. However, after coming back to the past, he could not ignore Mu-Nyang’s words anymore, especially after Mu-Nyang mentioned that Xiaomao would die AGAIN.

It wasn’t hard to guess that the cat also came back to the past, but something wasn’t right.

Before the regression, Xiaomao died 20 years later. However, Mu-Nyang said that he would die today.

Xiaomao guessed that Mu-Nyang might have come from the other timeline, or he could predict to future. However, it would be faster to ask Mu-Nyang directly.

“Do you know the details?”

Munya (I don’t know.)

“How did you know?”

Munya (I just know.)

“…”

Unfortunately, Mu-Nyang didn’t clarify how he obtained the information. He didn’t explain anything other than wanting to tag alone with Xiaomao.

Since Mu-Nyang didn’t explain, Xiaomao had no choice but to bring the cat alone.

“Miao Xiaomao! Over here!”

The voice of Wei Zhi drew his attention toward the track field. Over there, the track & field clubbers had been gathering. Wei Huang, the father of Wei Zhi, was there as well.

Xiaomao carried his bag toward the group. When he got closer, he spotted two school buses, which had been parking in the school.

Wei Zhi rushed to Xiaomao, “Did you get a good sleep?”

“Yeah. I slept about 3 hours, munya.”

“You what?!”

When Wei Huang and the other clubbers heard it, they facepalmed. They believed that Xiaomao might not have enough stamina to finish the race.

Xiaomao scoffed at them. He had almost 200 AGI and VIT, which was 10 times higher than the status of an average human. His HP and MP were also full, so he worried about nothing.

“Haiz. Anyway, get a good nap on the bus. The race starts at 8.30, so we have a bit of time to rest. But if you rest for too long, you might have to start at the back of the pack.”

“Nah, I’ll be fine. By the way, how many people are joining this race, munya?”

“Aside from you, we will be joining the mini-marathon. We start at the same time, but we run on a different route.”

“Oh, okay, munya.”

“Say, is this your cat? Are you taking it sightseeing?”

Wei Zhi glanced at Mu-Nyang and smiled. She reached out to pet him.

However, Mu-Nyang hissed and swatted Wei Zhi’s hand away from him.

Hiss! (Back off, wench!)

“He said he doesn’t like you, munya,” Xiaomao snickered and scratched Mu-Nyang’s chin. The cat leaned forward and purred.

Wei Zhi pouted, “Your cat is a meanie. By the way, what’s his name?”

“Mu-“

Munya! (Tell her I’m Mihaly Dumitru Margareta Corneliu Leopold Blanca Karol Aeon Ignatius Raphael Maria Niketas A. Shilage! In short, I’m god!)

Xiaomao glanced at the cat. He was curious if that was his true name or if Mu-Nyang was trolling.

“Ahem, King, munya.”

For the sake of his brain cell, Xiaomao came up with the logical name over the long name.

“Hahahaha! You have a good naming sense. Are you going to bring him to the race? Won’t he get lost?”

“It’s alright. He’s the smartest cat in the world.”

Munya! (Bow to the god king, peasant!)

“…”

Sometimes, Xiaomao wondered if Mu-Nyang was acting like a usual cat. However, Mu-Nyang couldn’t be ordinary since he showed signs of being a reincarnator or a regressor like Xiaomao.

‘What are you, buddy?’

.

Xiaomao boarded the bus together with Mu-Nyang. The male students occupied all seats in the back while the girls got on another bus. Wei Zhi was also with the girls.

As Xiaomao didn’t have any friends in the club, nobody sat next to him.

Mu-Nyang obediently sat on Xiaomao’s lap, but he stared at the window, looking restless. Xiaomao also followed its gaze and looked at the scenery.

Xiaomao got to enjoy the tranquil time while the bus was heading toward the event site. He closed his eyes and took a short nap.

Munya (Don’t sleep. Be vigilant!)

Xiaomao opened his eyes and looked at Mu-Nyang.

“Why?”

Munya-nya! (Be wary of a black bull.)

“Black bull?”

Xiaomao raised his brows as he doubted a black bull could appear in the metropolitan city. It would have been seized by the authority or the police had it shown up for a minute.

But judging by a cat’s logic, a black bull might not be an actual bull. Instead, it might be cars or a black object that looked like a bull.

Xiaomao snickered. He wondered what kind of black sedan or a bull-like object could kill him.

But as Xiaomao looked around, he noticed a billboard ad, which belonged to an energy drink brand – Black Bull.

Black Bull?

As Xiaomao kept staring, the corner of the billboard moved. Something was falling from it.

At that moment, Xiaomao widened his eyes. Past memory flashed before him, which made him recall a certain news headline before the regression.

<Billboard Collapsed. 15 Dead!>

As Xiaomao at that time didn’t pay attention to the news, he didn’t know the detail about the event. However, he just remembered it now that some of his school’s students were among the injured.

‘Uh-oh. Is this Final Destination?’

By reflex, Xiaomao put Mu-Nyang in his jacket and crouched below the seat.

BOOM!!

A metal pipe pierced through the seat where Xiaomao had sat. Many debris fell on the roof of the bus.

Glasses broke. The bus roof collapsed. Unknown metals caused deafening voices.

When everything was over, Xiaomao was laying on the floor of the bus. Sharp glass fragments grazed him, but they failed to cut his skin.

Xiaomao checked on Mu-Nyang. The cat was unharmed as well.

Munya (This isn’t over yet. Don’t get off the bus.)

“…”

Despite being warned, Xiaomao lifted one of the glass shards and peeked outside, using the reflection from the glass.

It was a mess. Cars were flipped over, and many vehicles crashed onto another.

One of the crushed electric cars was caught on fire. The driver and children in the passenger seats were still stuck inside!

“Uh-oh.”

Xiaomao stood up in a panic as he saw the faces of two crying children.

Munya (Don’t go out! It’s too late!)

“But people are stuck in that car!”

MUNYA (IT’S NOT OVER YET!)

“But I have a superpower!”

MUNYA-MUNYA (YOU’LL DIE IF YOU GET OUT NOW!)

While Xiaomao and Mu-Nyang were bickering, one of the diesel trucks leaked gasoline from its tank. The liquid soon got caught on fire from the electric car.

Then, it exploded.

BOOM

The electric car was too close to the truck. The fire engulfed the people inside.

WHOOSH

Shrapnel from the truck and a few glass shards from the electric car scattered. As Xiaomao was standing up, a few pieces hit him.

Fortunately, none of them pierced through his skin. Xiaomao felt like a few pieces of popcorn hit him.

Xiaomao realized this, too. He was relieved.

“See? Nothing can harm me.”

Munya! (You are getting cocky, peasant! Sit down and pretend to be confused!)

“But why?!”

Munya! (Just do it! Hide me as well. DO IT NOW, OR WE’LL DIE AGAIN!)

“…”

Xiaomao hid Mu-Nyang in his jacket and followed the cat’s instructions. He lay on the ground, feinting unconsciousness.

After laying on the ground, he could hear the other students’ voices. They were crying in pain and asking for help. However, no one could help them right now.

While commotion was going on, Xiaomao suddenly had goosebumps. He felt like something chilly just swept through him and the students on the bus.

Munya (Don’t get up. He’s here!)

‘Who?’ Xiaomao whispered.

Munya (Enemy!)

.

On top of the billboard, a caracal with three eyes looked around. It twitched its nose, sniffing and searching for something.

Nya? (Odd. I thought he was here. Did he die? Was it my imagination?)

Unable to find the thing that it had been searching for, the caracal leaped to the sky and disappeared.
