Chapter 724: Chapter 687: The Great Hunting Era has begun!
Although he felt like cannon fodder, there was no way he could chicken out.
It’s not like he hadn’t been in this position before.
Of course, before the battle, he needed to move the respawn point to the ship, and then try out the weapon he had in hand.
On the broken dock, everyone distanced themselves and began testing their huge weapons.
All the weapons were in their most basic forms, looking like ordinary big knives and big swords. The only unique feature was that they were huge!
Camille Victoria watched as others swung weapons as tall as themselves, terrified that they might lose control and hit her. She subconsciously took a few steps back, keeping even more distance.
Next, she raised her light crossbow and pulled the trigger at a stone pillar.
With a “whoosh” sound, a short arrow shot out, and the stone pillar immediately shattered a small piece.
Upon closer inspection, Camille Victoria was surprised to see that the arrow, as long as a finger, had completely penetrated the concrete-like stone pillar!
“This is a crossbow??!!”
“The power is like a bullet, right?!”
She examined her “light crossbow” in shock.
It didn’t need to be loaded one arrow at a time. When the muscular man handed her the weapon, he also gave her five crossbow boxes.
After firing the 20 “rounds” on the crossbow, she simply replaced the box to reload.
“Zhuge repeating crossbow?”
Camille Victoria had a strange thought but soon shook her head, “This is just a gun!”
“And an automatically reloading one, at that!”
And then...n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
She reached out and touched the indent on the stone pillar.
So, this was the most basic weapon? And it could still be upgraded?
What would it look like at the max level? A portable, scoped, infinite-firepower, rapid-fire rocket launcher?
Absurd!
But thinking about the size of the Molten Mountain Dragon and Phase Willow, it seemed somewhat reasonable.
How could they fight those big guys if the weapons weren’t absurd?
But... since the light crossbow was so absurd, what about the other weapons? They should be just as absurd, right?
Curious, Camille Victoria turned to look at the other players.
Around her on the dock, chaos ensued-
A player holding double knives was spinning wildly, the blades shining while rotating like an electric fan.
What was even more terrifying was that this “electric fan” was rapidly moving!
The guy couldn’t control it at all and kept shouting, “Get out of the way! I can’t stop!”
The guy with the big hammer, though the design was simple, raised it, and after a brief build-up of power, a visible halo appeared around the hammer’s head. As it struck, it created a tremendous noise, sending rubble flying and demonstrating unmatched power.
Finding other prey might not be easy, but the Molten Mountain Dragon was too easy to find.
You could simply look up and see a distinctive area in the sky, always burning with bright flames. That was the Molten Mountain Dragon’s location.
Phase Willow was harder to find as it couldn’t be traced from the sky.
However, if you could find any stream, you could follow it upstream to find the main body of the Phase Willow – all the water on Dinosaur Island was now flowing towards this ancient monster.
Looking into the distance, a brand new lake had even formed on Dinosaur Island.
And the Phase Willow was right in the middle of it.
...
The first target to appear in front of everyone was a mutated dinosaur, just over three meters in length.
Since this was near the hunting ship, it should be the beginner’s area, and this size was reasonable.
What was not reasonable, though, was the number of hunters it was facing—
Camille Victoria had just raised her light crossbow when a group of people roared and charged with big swords, katanas, and giant axes, hacking down the prey in an instant.
Several people were still charging, but the battle had already ended.
Even the person who had leaped three meters into the air and was holding a giant axe, about to perform a Cutting Mt. Hua with Strength attack, looked down and saw a dense crowd of players below. They tried to release their axe but couldn’t, and it swung down heavily into the crowd!
Fortunately, there was no player damage, otherwise, at least five or six would have been killed.
The crowd was so dense that Camille Victoria didn’t even get the chance to deal any damage.
And so, a new problem emerged: after the prey’s death, only a few “Inferior Dragon Scales”, “Inferior Dragon Claws”, and “Inferior Dragon Tendons” remained, along with a large amount of “Inferior Dragon Meat”.
The good news was: according to the System Introduction, the first three could be used to upgrade weapons, and the “Inferior Dragon Claws” could even be combined with metal materials to craft “Grappling Hooks”.
The bad news was: the number of these materials was very limited, and none of them were enough for upgrading weapons.
Clearly, this event encouraged individual hunting or the formation of small teams at most; otherwise, weapon upgrades would be hindered.
You could engage in human wave tactics, but if your equipment didn’t upgrade quickly enough, you’d still be wiped out by higher-level prey.
The venue was silent for a moment.
Until a familiar voice rang out again, “Hunting team to conquer 3, missing 1! Need a long-range player!”
“I’m coming!!!” Camille Victoria raised her hand and ran over to join them.
Her voice seemed to sound a call to arms, and the scene instantly turned into a player market:
“Need two hardcore players! 2=2!”
“Clearing content until 3 AM! Loot distribution is equal! Join now! Those who jump ship, go away!”
“5-person hunting team needs members! Loot distributed based on weapons! Those with katanas, don’t come!”
“Strong, Invincible, Best-in-Server Double Knife player forming group! Need different weapons! If you have overlapping loot requirements, you’ll have to compete with rock-paper-scissors!”
...
Since each weapon type had different upgrade materials, the majority of players chose to form teams with completely different weapon types to avoid loot conflicts.
Teams formed quickly, breaking away from the main force to adventure into their familiar areas of Dinosaur Island, hunting the now-unfamiliar dinosaurs.
And so, the great dinosaur-hunting era on Dinosaur Island began!
