[Door to Yuggoth]

“…Come ooon. Sci-fi? Really?” I heaved out a sigh faced with the super futuristic door.

To be fair, the gods of the Cthulhu Mythos did come from outer space, so it shouldn’t be weird there being space fantasy super technology here, but…

“This plot development is too risky. Those devs have got balls.”

I mean, throwing sci-fi into a world of swords and magic? If they handled it poorly, it might turn into a dumpster fire.

“Non-non, Yuri-chan.” Pinko shook his finger seeing me grumble in amazement. “The devs weren’t the ones writing the story of this world.”

“Huh? What’re you talking about?” I tilted my head at Pinko’s words.

If the devs didn’t write the story, then who did?

“Hehe… you see, this world was created by a cyber god.

“—To be precise, by the ‘Automatic Storyline Creator’ developed by the devs. Apparently, it drew about a thousand years’ worth of world history. That’s how this world came to be what it is now.”

“You’ve gotta kidding…?!”

So they had left everything to the Automatic Storyline Creator?!

What the hell was it, anyway? I mean, programs that could write some short stories had been around for a while, but one that could write a thousand years’ worth of history? How insane of a program did it take to pull that off?

Those devs really were dangerous in various senses.

“But of course, the devs aren’t completely uninvolved. They’ve got their hands in more recent history. I mean, ‘King Odin’ is an avatar of one of the devs.”

“Oh~, that guy.

“…I’ve gotta say, I’m impressed, Pinko. Never mind the lore, you even did your research on the behind-the-scenes process of this world’s creation. That’s some dedication.”

“Well, I just so happen to have a friend in the industry.”

“Wow~ you’ve got a wide network…”

…Oh, crap. I was completely engrossed in Pinko’s story.

Gotta examine the door, and quick. Although there was Urutaro to scare the monsters away, this was still their den.

Plus—monsters might not be the only danger here.

“So, I’m assuming this door is sealed and you need to figure out a way to open it. I knew I came as an escort, but this seems too interesting to pass up. Let me help you!”

“Will you? I appreciate it, Yuri-chan! Heehee… I wonder what will be waiting for us behind this ancient door~. Being the first to discover the legacy of extraterrestrials beings… just the thought sends my heart pounding♡.”

Pinko wriggled and twisted his body.

I couldn’t help but find it a pity that such a good-looking face was wasted on this cuckoo.

“Alright, Yuri-chan. Would you be dear and touch the door for me? You should then receive a message.”

“Okay.”

I touched the door as told.

Then, a message popped up in front of me: [The black star fell into the shaded earth and hath since fallen into slumber in the corrupted womb. Thou who wish to enter Yuggoth. Show me thy proof of heredity.]

…Damn, talk about a cryptic puzzle. Gave off a bad vibe, to boot.

“Bet you there’s a hidden boss behind this door…”

“I know right~. You can smell it a mile away. But because it is a hidden boss, we’ll get juicy info from it, surely. Not to mention, it’ll definitely drop unique items.”

Oh, now we were talking. I had a penchant for items that could be used to make strong equipment.

“From what you said, I’m guessing you’ve been here before, right? Did you get an idea how to open it yet?”

“Yes~. But the first time I came here, I was surrounded by monsters, so I couldn’t focus on trying out my theory.

“The message says ‘Show me thy proof of heredity’, right? I think what it wants is some ‘Ancient’ items.”

Saying that, Pinko took out rusty gears and worn-out cables.

Well, I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen…!
