Chapter 64 - Little Jia's Condition

The time was about 10 pm and the moon was glowing with its light all over the sky, dazzling with the number of tiny twinkling stars all across the sky.

There were fewer clouds too, but it gave a serene vibe as one gazed at it.

But still, the moonlight spread across them, bathing them in silver light.

It was April, the season of winter in China, making the cool moonlight even more beautiful.

In the house, Ye Qian took a thick blanket from the wardrobe and spread it on Little Qiqi and Little Jia who were about to sleep while embracing each other.

Ye Qian tugged the blanket properly under them and smiled while trying to turn back.

He was about to walk out when he turned to the bed and walked to Little Jia.

Little Jia had closed her eyes slightly open, but she didn't open them when she heard Ye Qian coming back.

Ye Qian inclined his head to Little Jia and pecked her on the head.

Little Jia smiled feeling sweet, Ye Qian smiled and patted her forehead.

"Now sleep properly, Papa will come back soon."

"Hmm."

Little Jia nodded her head without opening her eyes and smiled.

Saying that Ye Qian stood up and walked out.

Little Qiqi was in deep sleep, after being tired from the work and it didn't take long for her to fell into a deep slumber after falling on the bed.

Little Qiqi was still holding her thumb in her might and giggling every now and then, while the other hand embracing Little Jia.

"Now Little Qiqi, sleep properly with big sister Jia, Papa will come shortly!"

Little Jia mumbled as she patted Little Qiqi on the head to make her sleep.

Ye Qian was almost a foot away after he walked out, when he heard Little Jia, a gentle smile appeared on his lips as he continued to walk.

"She really is a sweet child."

Mumbling that he walked to the guest room from where he noticed the ladies still talking.

"Sister Wei, are we really going to sleep in these clothes?"

Jiao asked as she pouted her lips and glanced at Ning Wei, who was helping Yuan Meng pick some blankets and pillows from the wardrobe.

"What, if you have clothes then you can sure wear them, and I am comfortable while sleeping in these, it's not like I am wearing some thick or formal clothes!"

Ning Wei replied without any thought.

"Hump!"

Jiao turned to look at Yuan Meng and called out.

"Sister Meng, please help me, I won't feel good sleeping in these."

She stared at Yuan Meng with pleading eyes.

"Alright, let me take some pillows out."

Yuan Meng shook her head and threw two pillows at her.

"Sister Wie, do you also want some clothes I think you should also wear them."

"Hmm."

Ning Wei nodded and placed the blanket on the bed.

Saying that Yuan Meng turned and started to walk out.

As she was about a few feet away from the door she saw Ye Qian standing at it and knocked.

"Oh, come in."

Ning Wei and Jiao also saw Ye Qian and quickly told him to come.

Ning Wei smiled at Ye Qian and asked.

"Jia didn't trouble you right?"

Ye Qian shook his head while smiling.

"No, how can a girl as sweet as Little Jia trouble me?"

Ning Wei sighed, she had thought that, since Jia was sleeping with them she might have trouble sleeping.

Ming Wei smiled and turned back.

"So what are they doing?"

Yuan Meng asked as she heard Ye Qian.

"Don't worry they are sleeping like little babies."

Ye Qian reassured her and continued.

"So the things here are done?"

"Yes, it's done, I was about to come to take some clothes for Sister Wei and Jiao for sleeping."

"Hmm."

She knew he wanted to talk about the things he said in the morning as he would never come on his own.

Ye Qian nodded and walked out while waving at Ning Wei and Jiao.

As he came into his room he sat at the corner of the bed gently gazing at the sleeping girls and patting them while adjusting the blanket.

Yuan Meng also came and took some clothes and went out again after seeing that Ye Qian didn't ask her anything.

There was a smile on her face while she walked out after seeing him patting the girl's head.

A few moments later Yuan Meng came in and closed the door.

Ye Qian glanced at her and nodded.

"Let me change, I will be back in few seconds!"

Yuan Meng whispered and barged into the bathroom.

Ye Qian smiled at her impatience and returned to patting the girls.

After a minute or so Yuan Meng waked out of the bathroom wearing a purple coloured Satin Short sleeve nightgown that spread to her knees.

She really looked like a fairy even with these, Ye Qian was not able to look around as she came out.

Yuan Meng's face flushed, noticing Ye Qian staring at her.

"What are you staring at, it's not like you are seeing me for the first time?"

Yuan Meng mumbled as she rolled her eyes.

"Ahem."

Ye Qian cleared his throat to cover his embarrassment.

"Umm Mengmeng."

"What is it?"

Yuan Meng glanced while walking to the bed.

"What I will tell you might make you think I am trying to say something out of the story or fantasy book, but it's really true."

Ye Qian continued as Yuan Meng sat on the other side of the bed.

She placed her hand on the sleeping girls and smiled.

"You don't have to think that, I know you will tell me what's true, even it sounds like a story, I will believe it."

Yuan Meng replied without even looking at him as she continued to caress Little Qiqi's and Little Jia's hairs.

Ye Qian didn't know what to say and abruptly asked.

"Mengmeng you are not mad at me for treating Little Jia like this, right?"

Yuan Meng turned to him and gave a charming smile.

"My dummy, I am not mad at you, instead, I will be happy that you would love Little Jia more, her father died in an accident when she was a year old, unlike Qiqi who thought you would come to her again."

Yuan Meng continued to caress Little Jia's hairs tenderly and smiled.

"And she knew her father would never return, that was only bitter and it got more as she grew up."

"I have seen her most of the time, she is really a pitiful child, Sister Wie is also not able to pay her much attention nowadays as she stays home alone now."

"Sister Wie also cares deeply for her, and didn't marry again thinking she would suffer, besides, she didn't have family support like me."

As she stopped she pecked lightly on Little Jia's head and continued to run her fingers on her hair.

Listening to her, Ye Qian felt that indeed Little Jia was more pitiful than Little Qiqi.

He moved his hand on her head while rubbing and lightly kissed.

As if she felt him, Little Jia smiled and held his hand with her small hands and mumbled.

"Jia is the happiest girl, I also have Papa!"

Ye Qian and Yuan Meng glanced at each other and smiled.

After a few minutes, Yuan Meng asked.

"Qian'er when you were patting Little Jia's head why did you frown suddenly."

She asked as she remembered Ye Qian's frown while he placed his hand on Little Jia's head.

Immediately Ye Qian's smile stiffened and he glanced at Little Jia with seriousness.

Yuan Meng felt something was off as Ye Qian had never such a serious face after he came back.

Even when she fell unconscious he was calm as he knew he would be able to treat her, but now seeing his seriousness Yuan Meng felt there was something dangerous for Little Jia.

Thinking till this, the blood from Yuan Meng's face drained as she was frightened by the possibility. There was worry on her face.

"Everything is fine with Little Jia right Qian'er?"

Yuan Meng asked while she started to tremble and shook Ye Qian's hand.

Knowing that Yuan Meng was worried about Little Jia's conditions, Ye Qian felt content in his heart.

'She is really the Mengmeng I loved. Even caring for Little Jia like she is her child.'

Ye Qian lightly patted her shoulder and rubbed the tears which were forming in her eyes and smiled.

"There is nothing to worry about her health, for now."

As he continued, Ye Qian's voice also turned low.

Even if he was able to help Little Jia she would still need Spiritual Energy to ease her body and start cultivation.

"For now... for now, what do you mean by that?"

Yuan Meng rubbed her eyes and glanced at the calmly sleeping Little Jia.

'She is just a child how can she have something that even Qian'er can't treat.'
