Chapter 23 - Piggyback Ride

Throughout the five years when he disappeared, nobody had seen him and his body was also not been found if he were to be considered dead.

Possibly everyone would have thought that he was dead, including his parents, but Yuan Meng still clung onto small hope all these years but she was also losing as time passed.

Hence it was likely that his daughter, who was under their influence, would have also likely thought the same too.

To her, her father was dead, as she never thought that her Papa would abandon her as her Mumma had said to her.

'Papa promised me that he will always be with her taking her care.'

So Little Qiqi would never think that her father would abandon her and most likely thought he was dead.

That was all she could think to make herself feel somewhat less sad.

This was her own conclusion after listening to her Mumma.

But everything changed after he appeared before her all of a sudden, it was like the little girl who wanted love and care from her father woke up and wanted herself to be doted like how other parents doted on their children.

She could not behave like how she used to like a well-mannered and good child as she wanted to receive the care that she desires and didn't get so far.

Wu Ying turned to him suddenly and looked serious as she stared at him and sighed.

"Mr. Ye, in reality, Qiqi is really alone and has confined herself in her heart and she really needs you, as any daughter would. She is a child, after all, she is craving for love and care from you and Miss Yuan like any other child of her age. Though Miss Yuan cares for her, she is unable to give her all the things Qiqi needs, as she has less time due to work, and other things."

"Miss Yuan would come to receive Little Qiqi once in a while and I would always say these things to her. The last time when I said how sad Qiqi is, her eyes teared up as she said that Little Qiqi would never sleep without having her Papa's photo with her, she would sometimes cry at night while mumbling 'Papa didn't abandon Qiqi and Mumma. Papa has promised Mumma that he will always be with Qiqi. Why do you say that he didn't like Qiqi and so left Qiqi and Mumma.'"

"When I heard it, I felt like she would definitely break but she somehow is alright and now that you are here she might definitely be happy and let go of her loneliness after you give her all the love she ever tried to get and wanted whenever she saw how other parents love their child."

"But she is trying to deny it all. Possibly it has also something to do with how she grew up, she is just like her mother or the things she has experienced since she matured earlier. She is a little docile but still, she tries to mingle with others to hide her true feelings. As she knows that her mother is working so much hard for her."

Ye Qian felt his heart stabbing as he listened to Wu Ying.

He turned to her and nodded.

One could say that apart from Yuan Meng and the teacher who was in front of him were the only people who understood Little Qiqi the best.

And it was likely that Yuan Meng would not say these things to him considering that he would feel sad about it but would try to help Little Qiqi which overcoming her sadness and loneliness by making her have more time with Ye Qian.

If Wu Ying didn't say these things today, he would have never understood how his daughter really was even despite being someone who lived for so long.

Miss Wu Ying looked at him and nodded in a knowing manner and smiled slightly.

'I hope he would now understand Qiqi better, the child is too good to be thinking of such things at her age, she must have fun.'

She thought as she turned to look at Little Qiqi who was now waiting for them to return.

She looked at her watch and smiled "Alright Mr. Ye Little Qiqi must have been impatient from all the waiting now. That's all I wanted to talk to you about."

Ye Qian turned to her and bowed in gratification as he apologised.

"Thank you so much, Miss Wu."

Wu Ying was stunned and looked at him as she was not able to think.

Wu Ying then shook her head and said as she helped him to stand straight.

"It's my job to do this, there is no need for you to thank me." She said while smiling.

Then she started to walk to the guardhouse.

Ye Qian smiled and followed her to the guardhouse as well.

Meanwhile seeing that Miss Wu and Ye Qian were returning Little Qiqi smiled and started to wave at them as she called out.

"Papa."

Then she ran to him.

Wu Ying saw her running to them and stopped her and squatted to her and smoothened the hair which came on her forehead.

Little Qiqi thanked her as she smiled.

"Thank you, Miss Wu."

Wu Ying patted her head as she smiled and said, "Qiqi now go home with your Papa now. And don't forget to do your homework today. No excuses tomorrow."

"Yes Miss Wu, sorry for today."

Little Qiqi bowed as she said.

"Now go with your father."

Wu Yian said as she patted Little Qiqi.

Little Qiqi went to Ye Qian and hugged him as he squatted down.

After Wu Ying left, Ye Qian picked Little Qiqi up and started to walk out of the entrance.

As he walked out of the entrance the woman who talked about him saw him carrying Little Qiqi and felt a bit dejected.

"Ah, he has a daughter."

"Oh, I thought that he was a bachelor, by his looks and body."

Another woman sighed and shook her head.

As they went out of the entrance Little QIqi called out to Ye Qian as she poked at his cheeks.

"Papa, I want to say something."

Ye Qian smiled at her adorable way of talking and asked.

"What does my Little Butterfly want?"

"Hehe, Papa can you Piggyback me, I always wanted it."

Little Qiqi giggled as she rubbed his nose with her tiny hands and gushed.

"Sure, just let me put you down first."

With that, he bends down and placed Little Qiqi on the ground.

As soon as he placed her down he moved in front of her and squatted on the ground.

Then he patted his back and called to Little Qiqi.

"Butterfly, now jump on my back I will catch you, ok."

"Yes Papa, I am jumping now."

Little Qiqi exclaimed as she jumped on his back and then wrapped her hands around his neck.

Ye Qian brought his hands on his back and interlocked it after supporting her knees.

"Butterfly are you comfortable?" Ye Qian asked as he was about to stand up again.

"Yes Papa, Qiqi feels good. Now you can stand up."

Little Qiqi giggled.

"Ok, here we go."

With that Ye Qian stood up while carrying Little Qiqi on his back and started walking.

Meanwhile, Little Qiqi looked happy as she rested her head on his back and closed her eyes.

'Now Qiqi is also having a Piggyback from Papa, thank you God for fulfilling my wish.'

'Papa will now always be with Qiqi and Mumma, I am so happy.'

Soon Ye Qian walked on the road as he carried Little Qiqi on his back.

While other parents were feeling envious after seeing the father and daughter duo.

'What an adorable child, she is so cute.'

'She is so pretty and look at her father he loves her so much, it is not just for show, he genuinely cares for her by the way he did everything for her.'

'Only if I had such a husband and a daughter.' The women thought as they watched Ye Qian and Little Qiqi.

While the men were jealous of Ye Qian for having such a good child.

Many women wanted to get to know his contact before, but now they felt it was for no use now considering the little girl on his back as they thought.

'The child is so beautiful, how pretty her mother would be.'

Soon they arrived in front of a supermarket.

Little Qiqi turned her head at a Pretty Panda cartoon bag which was on the display when Ye Qian passed by the Supermarket as he carried her.

There was a strong yearning in Little Qiqi's eyes as she saw the bag.

Ye Qian seemed to notice that she was looking at the bag.

He then turned his neck around and looked at the bag she was carrying and noticed that although the bag looked in good condition and had a cute Doremon cartoon on it, it had lost its colour. Even the stitches were visible which seemed to be made after the straps were broken.

Ye Qian felt his heart throb as guilt developed within him.
