Chapter 13 - At The Market

As Ye Qian came out of the kitchen Jiao and Yuan Meng looked at each other, while Jiao asked "Did you finished cooking?"

"No there is nothing proper to eat so I am going to market and bring something so that I can make a healthy and tasty dinner for Mengmeng and Qiqi." Ye Qian looked at Yuan Meng while he said.

He intended to say that the Frozen Dumplings were not good for them to eat.

Yuan Meng didn't dare to say anything and lowered her head she to felt ashamed to face him in such a state, she also didn't want to eat those dumplings but they were the cheapest which were within her budget.

Ye Qian understood and went to her while taking her face in both her hands and holding it within them.

He brought her head up to see her eyes were red and she was about to tear up.

"Uh, I don't blame you because you are the one who suffered, the one who should be blamed is me so, don't worry yourself too much, take some rest I will be back soon and make a healthy dinner for you two."

Ye Qian said, his heart ached while looking at her in such a state.

"Hmm." Yuan Meng replied and smiled at him, "You must come soon."

"Yes, I will return as fast as I get the vegetables and meat." Ye Qian nodded and he stepped towards the bedroom.

Yuan Meng and Jiao looked at each other in confusion seeing him go to the bedroom.

Meanwhile, Ye Qian came out of the room with a shawl and a blanket in each hand and walked towards them.

He gave the Shawl to Jiao saying, "It is cold so you should wrap it around you for now."

He spread the blanket and covered it on Yuan Meng and said to her, "This is for you you must have a small nap, or should rest, don't move from the sofa until I am back."

He said after giving a small peck on her cheeks.

Her face flushed again and she nodded with her head down.

"Hmm. Now go and return soon I am waiting for you!" Yuan Meng said as soon as he pecked her.

Without any ado, Ye Qian walked out of the house.

Meanwhile, Jiao poked Yuan Meng and said "He is quite romantic!"

"Yes!" Yuan Meng replied in a daze, she then realized her answer and punched Jiao saying.

"You Grumpy Jiao control your tongue."

Jiao easily dodged and said, "Someone is really going to have a romantic life again."

"Humph, so what he has to be romantic or I will complain to Mom and Dad about him. Oh, I forgot to tell them about his return."

"Ok, tell them after dinner, first rest or I will tell Ye Qian that you were not resting while he went out." Jiao snickered while covering herself with the shawl.

'He is really good he even had thought of me. Sister Mengmeng's life will finally have a happy turn now. That Ye Qian even has some magical powers. Hmm should I ask Sister Meng, I will ask her later, let her rest for a while. We can talk about these things later as well.'

Meanwhile, Ye Qian went to the local market to buy some groceries and asked the vendors for the prices.

He went to a meat shop which sold all kinds of meat where an old man was running the buisness.

"Old Man, how much is the pork for?" Ye Qian asked

"Which portion do you want young man?" The Old Butcher asked while smiling.

"Well, that's not specified, I want to make soup from it." Ye Qian said after thinking for a while.

"Oh, so you will need some Pork belly, intestines some meat with bones and some ground pork as well as some ribs for taste." The Old Butcher said after hearing that Ye Qian wanted to make Soup.

The Old Man looked quite good as he was not arrogant and treated customers well and helped them with their needs as well.

"So pack that, hmm how much will be required to make a soup for about 5 people?"

Ye Qian asked as he didn't know the ratio to make the soup.

"And tell me how to make the basic soup from it as well please." after thinking again he asked.

"Oh Young Man, alright do you have a paper. I will say the recipe that my wife makes." The old man sighed but still said to Ye Qian.

"Just say it I will remember everything." Ye Qian said.

He didn't have pen and paper and he also had an excellent memory due to cultivation.

"Alright Young Man remember it carefully." The old man started saying the recipe.

"First, cut everything into bite-size pieces except for the bones, then add the belly region to fry till it releases the fat, after that all the meat and bones and intestines, ribs etc, then add the spices like cloves, cinnamon, black peppercorns and star anise and other that you prefer in a pouch and drop the pouch in the pot."

"Then fry it with meat that you are frying, then add sliced chillies, garlic, ginger, and onions and cook them well, then add water for the soup, remember to not add too much, since you are making for 5 people just add about 2 litres. Add salt to taste and cook for high till it boils and cook it under pressure if you have less time, the soup will get ready in 20 minutes."

"After it is done add soy sauce while you eat or it will make the things too tangy."

The Old Man said the whole recipe without any obstruction.

The other people who were walking by also stopped to write down the recipe, some even used their smartphones to record the recipe.

"Thanks a lot, old man it does sound delicious. We will definitely make it." The surrounding people cheered.

"You can just tell me how was it, it's my families best medicinal soup as well." The old man puffed his chest and said.

Ye Qian looked at him in a grateful manner, this recipe though was only a mortal one it still practised the Dao of medicine considering it used all the spices which were used for various diseases.

"Thanks a lot, old man." Ye Qian thanked the old man and again said "I also want some chicken to make fried rice."

The old man quickly packed the chicken as well as the pork material and handed it to Ye Qian saying.

"The pork consisting of everything is 1Kg and the chicken is also the same. The price of pork is 20 Yuan and of chicken, it is 13 Yuan, total it went 33 Yuan."

Ye Qian took out the money from the wallet which was given to him by the hoodlum. And handed the old man 40 Yuan in cash to the old man.

The Old Man smiled seeing the extra 7 Yuan.

"Come again I will give you another recipe as well!" The old man shouted and waved at Ye Qian.

Ye Qian waved and smiled as well.

Ye Qian thought 'Thank the hoodlum for giving his wallet or I wouldn't have been able to make dinner now.'

Thinking Ye Qian went to the nearest Super Market containing Vegetables and rice and spices.

As he entered the supermarket and he was greeted with the fresh smell of fruits and vegetables.

It was April so there were Mangoes, Oranges, Strawberries, and others as well.

He picked up a cart and went to the fruit and vegetable section and started picking them, 1 packet of strawberries, 6 oranges, spinach, chillies, potatoes, onions, rice, and some good quality sauces, etc and the spices which were needed as well, he mostly picked fresh leafy vegetables for soup and salads,

'Little Qiqi must eat a lot, she is so skinny and Mengmeng has removed the Gu so there will also be no more problem but still she must stay healthy, I will make her eat everything tonight even if she cries. Mengmeng has lost a lot of weight so I must make food daily now that I am here, I will use some Medicines to keep their bodies healthy as well.'

Ye Qian thought while picking the groceries and went to the counter after giving a long sigh.

The Lady at the counter smiled seeing him buying so many things and welcomed him.

She slowly checked the things and said "Sir the bill is 253 Yuans would you pay in cash or card."

Ye Qian took his wallet (the hoodlums) there were only about 400 Yuan left he took the 260 Yuan and picked up the bags which were provided by the market and went out walking after receiving the bill.

"Thanks a lot, Sir, Come Again!" The Lady smiled as she received a tip of 7 yuans.

As Ye Qian walked out of the mall he quickly started walking at a fast pace towards his house, he was really lucky that there was no one on the street or he might have been thought as The FLASH, he was carrying about 30Kg of goods in his hand while running at a speed which might only be called as inhumane.

Within 5 minutes he was back near the gate of his house.

"Ding dong."

He pressed the doorbell and waited for someone to open the door, the door was opened and he was greeted with a hug and a cute little face.

Little Qiqi run into him as she hugged him as soon as she opened the door.

"Papa is back." Little Qiqi smiled and said as she hugged him.

"Yes, Papa is back from the market." Ye Qian said as he picked her up and with one hand and pecked on her cheeks.

"Hehe, Papa it tickles!" Little Qiqi laughed as he pecked her more.

"Papa Qiqi is hungry." Little Qiqi said as soon as Ye Qian stopped tickling her and carried her in the Living room with one hand and the other holding the 30Kg bag.

He placed Little Qiqi on the ground as he saw Yuan Meng resting on the sofa.

Yuan Meng looked at him and smiled.

Seeing the big bag in his hand she knew he went on a shopping speer for the dinner.

"Qiqi you are hungry right, wait for 30 minutes till papa cooks something healthy and tasty for you and Mumma." Ye Qian said as he patted Little Qiqi after setting her on the sofa.

"Hmm... Does papa know how to cook?" Little Qiqi asked with big watery eyes.

Ye Qian helplessly replied with a smile, "You will know when you will ask Papa to cook more dishes after eating tonight."
