Chapter 25 Just What Are My Dormmates!?

Arriving at the [Mana Chambers], I felt an immediate spike in the atmospheric mana density. The room was quite empty except for a panel with which we could control the settings such as enabling AI-based opponents, increasing or decreasing the mana density, etc.

One had to make sure that they didn't stay in surroundings with extremely high mana density for too long as it could lead to a disease known as [Mana Poisoning] in which your blood would start to overflow with mana thus rupturing your internal vessels and organs in most cases. One of the few ways to offset this would be to learn an art known as [Mana Circulation]. This was an art that couldn't be taught to others and had to be learned by oneself.

Entering the room, I sat down cross-legged in the middle and tried to concentrate on the mana in my surroundings. After a few minutes, I was easily able to perceive all the mana around me. Slowly, I took a deep breath and began to pull the mana around me inside my body.

After an hour of practice, I created a pattern where the mana absorbed by me in every breath would slowly circulate through my heart and refine it there after which it would be circulated throughout my body. A portion would be used to passively strengthen my body whereas the other would contribute to increasing my mana pool. The impurities in the mana absorbed on the other hand would be exhaled through my breath.

Normally, [Mana Circulation] was an art that could only be learned by talented [A+] ranks or higher who had Awakened decades ago. This was because this art could passively increase your stats simply without training. Though the increase in stats itself was minuscule after each breath, it would also help in the recovery of mana and save up a lot of training time passively.

It once again depicted the advantages of having infinite talent. What others could do in decades, I could do in hours.

[The art Mana Circulation has been created]

[Detecting the presence of innate Divine Body constitution]

[Assimilating Mana Circulation into Divine Body]

"Huh?"

'That was something new. I didn't expect my new skill to get merged into [Divine Body]. Looks like this skill I got through the inheritance has more secrets than I was ever aware of.'

"But why did it say Innate? Doesn't innate mean something that you had originally since birth? I'm pretty sure that was the setting I wrote in my novel"

Still skeptical about it, I decided to check my status.

'I think I have an idea about it now. [Divine Body] is like a blank slate that can let me assimilate any physical art or skill I learn into it. Normally I'd have limits as to how much my body can handle but not with this as it also merges into a single skill.'

And to top it all off, my charm increased too! This day couldn't get any more wonderful than it already was.

Now that I reached [E-] rank, I had to focus on condensing a mana core in my body. I'd do that tomorrow though as I can take some time off for today.

With this thought, I set off on my way back to my dorm.

.

.

I stepped into the elevator and made my way up to my floor. The moment the doors opened, I spotted Anthony and Alex sitting on the couch, looking like little depressed puppies. Chuckling to myself, I could already guess what had happened to them. Points were something that were widely used in the Academy and they probably got some deducted from them, thus making them one of the few rarest people in the history of the Academy to have negative points before the Academy even began.

On the other hand, Orion seemed to be in a very bad mood.

Suddenly, he glared at me and I saw his iris flash red for a second before his eyes widened.

"AAAAAH", Orion screamed out loud and grabbed his eyes in a manner as if trying to claw them out due to the sheer pain he was experiencing.

This alerted my other two dormmates who rushed over to check on him whilst I just stood there watching Orion with a disdainful smile hanging on my lips.

.

.

[One day ago]

Orion had been in a great mood since yesterday. Last night he had gone out with his roommate Asher and those other two annoying c*nts to have dinner when four people suddenly showed up to bully them out of nowhere.

He was about to ignore them when his system suddenly issued a prompt.

[Ding]

[New scenario detected]

[A Mandatory Mission is being issued]

.

[Mission: Beat the bullies!]

[Mission Type: Forced]

[Description: 4 People have come up to throw you out of your place and take over. Beat them up and show them who's boss!]

[Reward: [Appraisal] skill]

[Punishment upon failure: 3 inch reduction in ** length]

'HAHAHAHA SUCH AN EASY MISSION!'

Orion screamed out in joy and proceeded to provoke those people into a hostile situation. While he was a bit annoyed at how his system kept on issuing forced missions and quests, as long as they were easy he wasn't going to complain.

While in the end, "he" was able to beat up those four people, and the professor ordered him to come to him the next day. At least the consolation about this current situation was the fact that he got a new skill and the silver lining was that Alex and Anthony were called out along with him so they'd had to suffer too! 'HAHAHAHHA!!'

.

.

[The next day]

Orion returned after meeting with the Professor along with those other two annoying people. He hadn't gotten a chance to test out his skill yesterday so he was going to check it out today. And who better to use these skills on than these two people beside him?

[Skills:]

.

.

[Appraisal: Grants the user the ability to check the Name, Age, Race, Talent, Rank, Affinity, Skills, and the Mental state of the subject the skill is used on.]

'THIS IS Overpowered! Not only can I practically check most of their status but I can also up to an extent look into what they're thinking.'

Getting all hyped up, Orion turned towards Anthony and activated his skill [Appraisal].

----------------------------

'Huh? Hey System, is this skill broken, useless or what??' Orion asked the system.

[No, for some reason the System is unable to appraise this individual. It's like there's a big void between the user and that individual filled with nothingness, through which the System is unable to look past. But don't worry user, this case isn't normal at all and the user should even be able to appraise A+ rank individuals up to a certain extent.]

'Is that so? Alright, then I'll test it on Alex instead.'

Orion looked at Alex, his eyes flashing red as he cast [Appraisal].

----------------------------

'OH GREAT! WHAT IS IT NOW!? Don't tell me there's some "big void" once again. I think it's not the people, it's just the skill that's broken.'

[The System tried to Appraise the individual but there was interference from a 'higher being' which blocked out the effects of the skills. Normally, this shouldn't be possible unless the 'higher being' itself was paying attention to that individual]

'...'

'So what is a higher being exactly?'

[The user needs to get to at least S- rank to obtain the privilege to unlock the required necessary information.]

'...'

'Oh, just great. This skill is useless.'

At this moment the elevator opened up and Orion could see Asher stepping out of it.

'Well Asher, I don't have anything against you but I do need to try my skill on someone. Blame yourself for your bad luck.'

Orion's eyes flashed red for a split second as he once again cast [Appraisal], hoping to get a result this time.

[Casting Appraisal]

[Error]

[Unable to cast Appraisal]

[Error]

[#*&$%@]

[ERROR!]

[The System doesn't have enough energy to deal with ####]

[The User's rank is dropping from F to F-]

[The stats will be accordingly adjusted]

[It is highly recommended for the user to never cast Appraisal or any mental-related skills on that Individual or the next time user may lose more than a single sub rank.]

[Error]

[The user must prepare for a backlash]

"AAAAAAH", Orion screamed out as he grabbed his eyes and fell down.

'IT HURTS!'

To Orion, it felt like his whole head was being split apart by a chainsaw bit by bit in slow motion. The pain was excruciating and the last thought Orion had before falling unconscious was,

'JUST what are my dormmates!!? THEY'RE ALL MONSTERS!'
