Chapter 270 – Sense of Danger

“Ah, it’s Torimoto! Where were you?!” (Shakuhara)

Noticing me approaching, Shakuhara walked over to me.

“Oh? You’re not wearing your eyepatch anymore, huh?” (Torimoto)

“Yeah… It’s okay now. I… don’t need it anymore.” (Shakuhara)

She had previously worn the eyepatch because of her past. Removing her eyepatch was a way for her to say farewell to that past.

“Anyway, setting that aside! I have a bunch of things I need to ask you!” (Shakuhara)

“Y-You’re way too close.” (Torimoto)

“Who cares about that?!” (Shakuhara)

Ehh…? Didn’t she say she didn’t like men and didn’t want to get close to them…?

“Ugh, Kei-chan! Don’t cause trouble for Torimoto-sama!” (Saniwa)

“R-Riwa! B-But… aren’t you curious too, Riwa? About that doll, and about Torimoto turning into a doll?” (Shakuhara)

“I-I guess I am, but…” (Saniwa)

The two of them glanced at me fleetingly, looking as if they really wanted me to explain. Well, now that the cat was out of the bag, there was no need to hide it.

Well, it was still a pain in the ass to explain, so it would’ve been nice if they could just let it slide.

“U-Umm, Torimoto-sama… It might be a bit difficult to say, but please just tell me one thing.” (Saniwa)

“What is it, Saniwa-san?” (Torimoto)

“Umm… You worked hard to try and save us, right Torimoto-sama?” (Saniwa)

“…I guess so.” (Torimoto)

I only saved these two because Sayuri had requested me to. Well, the stuffed animal that I had given Saniwa as a present was to thank her for watching over me.

The [Rescue Plushie] was a stuffed animal that would save the owner of the item only one time.

“…! Then… that’s all that matters.” (Saniwa)

“Hey, Riwa! Are you sure?” (Shakuhara)

“Yeah! Because at this point, it’s nothing new that Torimoto-sama is mysterious in a number of ways, right?” (Saniwa)

“I guess that’s true, but…” (Shakuhara)

“He saved our lives. Torimoto-sama is our benefactor. That’s all that matters.” (Saniwa)

“…Wuuuu, fine! Torimoto!” (Shakuhara)

Thinking back, I felt like I’d already been around these two for quite a while now. And through everything that had happened, I came to know about their past. I didn’t really feel any feelings of friendship towards them, but now that they had managed to make it out alive, I hoped that they would continue to make the most of their lives.

“Don’t worry about it. What are you two going to do now?” (Torimoto)

“We decided to work hard with Founder-sama… no with Sayuri-sama.” (Saniwa)

“I see. It might be a rough road ahead, but I’m sure you guys will do well.” (Torimoto)

“Yes! This time, we won’t be operating as a group of murderers anymore, but a community of survivors!” (Saniwa)

“Hmph. I haven’t forgiven men yet though.” (Shakuhara)

Either way, it seemed that Shakuhara wouldn’t go out of her way to kill men anymore. People change, huh?

Then, Saniwa told me to wait a second and left, returning moments later with a paper bag. She took a red scarf out of the bag and handed it to me.

“Again…Would you please accept this?” (Saniwa)

“Are you sure?” (Torimoto)

I wrapped it around my neck on the spot, and Saniwa looked happy.

At that moment, Asamine, who was in charge of the medical ward, came over. It seemed that she was one of the members of the religious order who had been saved.

“I can’t thank you enough. Without your medicine, many of them would be dead already.” (Asamine)

“No, no, not at all. I was just fulfilling a request, so don’t worry about it.” (Torimoto)

“Also, thank you for rescuing these two when their lives were in danger. Fufu, Riwa-san was so proud when she was telling me about you earlier.” (Asamine)

“Hey, Yuna-san! Don’t tell him thaaat!” (Saniwa)

“Fufufu, but he’s saved you over and over again whenever you were in a pinch. He really is like your prince.” (Asamine)

“”N-no… Calling him a prince is going a bit far… Besides, I’m not cute like a princess.” (Saniwa)

“Ara, that’s not true. You’re adorable, Riwa. Plus, when he saved you the first time, it really was like watching a movie scene of a prince saving a princess, you know.” (Asamine)

“Eh? W-What do you mean by that?” (Saniwa)

Huh? Eh? Isn’t this kind of a bad situation?

“Hm? Did no one tell you? Torimoto-sama fed you the medicine directly mouth-to-mouth.” (Asamine)

“Bueeh?! M-Mouth-to-mouth…? M-Me…? W-Who?” (Saniwa)

“Like I said, it was Torimoto-sama. To-ri-mo-to-sama.” (Asamine)

“Torimoto-sama fed me mouth-to-mouth…… Kyuuuuu~” (Saniwa)

“H-Hey, Riwa! Get a hold of yourself!” (Shakuhara)

Saniwa’s face flushed bright red, and it almost looked like steam was coming out of the top of her head. She fainted and began to fall, but Shakuhara caught her.

“H-Hey, what’s this about mouth-to-mouth?! I knew that was what happened!” (Shakuhara)

I guess when this topic came up in the past and Shakuhara almost exposed me, she really did figure out what happened.

“H-Huh? You two didn’t know about it…?” (Asamine)

“We didn’t know! N-No, I thought maybe it did happen, but… Hey, Torimoto! Where did he run off to?! Torimotoooo!” (Shakuhara)

That was dangerous. I didn’t think the past, which I thought they had already forgotten about, would get exposed just like that.

If I left just like this, Shakuhara would definitely kill me.

From my hiding spot on the other side of the door to the medical ward, I watched the situation and let out a sigh.
