Chapter 374 You Go To Your Corner And I'll Go To Mine

Eve never liked it when she couldn't reach Jovani on his phone. The man did enough stupid things that she had plenty of reasons to worry. Especially after the most recent stunts he'd been pulling. Wasn't someone supposed to be stopping? Eve racked her brain but couldn't recall exactly who.

"Oya. We are supposed to be working on stuff. This isn't the time to be taking personal calls. If you have something more pressing, skedaddle and let me do my job." Eve could feel her right eye twitching as she put her phone away. Gabrielle had never been good at reading the atmosphere. Otherwise, she would have already figured out to leave Eve alone. The Vedova Nera boss's fiance had purposely picked the furthest corner of the room put space between her and the other woman.

The tall Italian woman hadn't figured out how to take the clue as she leaned against the wall, a picture of pure boredom. Gabrielle did her best to give off the impression that she was focused on what Lena was doing. Eve knew better. It only took basic observation skills to see that the Italian woman kept glancing at her out of the corner of her eye.

"I don't think it is any of your business what I do. I came here hired by the Princess. Not you." The reply came relatively late, but Eve didn't care. She didn't have to answer or explain herself to anyone else. She would murder Jovani if she found out he'd done anything stupid while she was away. She let out a low huff as she went to turn away to head back over to the table.

"Hey, now. We don't have the best history, but you could at least try." Gabrielle made a vague swipe at grabbing Eve's arm as she passed, but the other leaned away. The hacker didn't even spare the Italian woman a glance as she continued walking away.

"Try what? You're the one who went about burning any potential bridge that could've existed between us. I've moved on from it already; it is about time you did too." Gabrielle's head tilted slightly. Had Eve tried to tell her what to do instead of blaming her? That took a mighty large amount of gall.

"Child. You might want to watch what you say in the future. Last time I checked, there wasn't anyone to blame for what happened. Even if there were, it certainly wouldn't have been me." Gabrielle brushed herself away from the wall as she breezed past Eve, almost bumping into the other as she reclaimed her previous seat.

"Lena, how much longer will we have to wait around here? I don't think my stomach can handle being in the same space with this newcomer for much longer." In different, cold eyes met her plea.

"Why don't you go stand back outside and cool off then? The rain might help get your brain functioning properly so you can be useful." Ow. Talk about harsh. Gabrielle tsked lightly as she leaned back in the chair enough to force the front two legs off the floor.

"I"m plenty useful. You're the one who decided to change the rules at the last minute. Without the dead weight, I would've already had this taken care of easily." The Italian's grumbling was met with a harsh smack to the back of the head from the Princess. The little human had somehow managed to move behind Gabrielle before the other took note.

"I'm going to allow that. Only because you're still holding my precious treasure hostage." Allowing it didn't mean she wouldn't glare sullenly in Lena's direction. The latter, much like Eve, didn't pay her much attention.

"Technically, I am your boss. So whether you allow it or not, I will still do it, and there's nothing you can do about it." Gabrielle's mood soured at the statement. Despite Lena being the boss, that was no way to treat her. The Italian woman huffed and puffed as her attention turned toward Hester.

"If you interrupt me from doing your job, it will take twice as long for me to answer your question." He didn't allow her to speak, nor did his eyes move from being glued to the computer. Only one finger shot up when Gabrielle opened her mouth a second.

"Hester. I don't want to ask you anything; I want you to give me the bloody computer." She snatched said computer before the tech could protest. She expertly maneuvered it onto her lap and turned away from the other to see what he'd been doing.

What a bloody mess.

"Hester. Do you even know what you are doing? This is all a damn bloody mess here right now." She glared over at Hester, who looked less than amused that someone had gone about taking his computer away.

"As if you're one to speak. I wouldn't have to do any of this if you had agreed from the start. Don't judge when you're not even helping." Hester leaned across the chair to try to regain the computer, but she wouldn't let him have it.

"You need a lot of help right now. Don't even think about taking it back." Gabrielle could easily see what the other was trying to do, except that he was making a huge mess out of it.

"Eve. Why don't you come over here and see if you can make sense of this?" Gabrielle mocked, raising the computer above her head to call the other.

"If you go about breaking my computer, I will never work with you again after. You wouldn't even be able to get that treasure you've been so serious about wanting to get." The usual threat fell on deaf ears as Gabrielle focused more on getting Eve's attention. The other woman, however, was an expert and could ignore the other nuisance.

"How about you stay over there and go to your corner, and I will go to mine. I can do the job well enough without cleaning up someone else's mess. I might be able to take you more seriously. You could do it yourself?"

Gabrielle smirked. Another challenge already, or was the other woman just too scared? That would be a challenge she would be willing to take up. Eve would be eating her words by the end of the day. So would Hester.
