Chapter 348 Someone Better Than You

Lena glanced back over at her brother as she half-listened to what the doctor had to say. She didn't care much after hearing that Leo couldn't see. Whether he could get his sight back or not sounded as though it were all based on speculation. Once again, doctors didn't exactly know what they were talking about.

"There are a number of things that we can do to help, it would just make it easier of the family could let us know how they would like to proceed." The Princess's attention turned back to the doctor at these words.

"Proceed? It isn't it your job to tell us what the best options would be moving forward? You're the one who got a professional degree in this field to help people out. Why don't you start putting it to good use by telling us what the best option would be?" Lena's harsh tone cut down anything that Julian wanted to say. Her uncle wouldn't have chosen such a harsh approach but their end goal was the same so why scold her for the way she went about getting there?

The doctor shifted from one foot to the next, visibly uncomfortable as he cleared his throat and glanced around at the various people who likely overheard the harsh exchange. Did he care more about his reputation than putting his heart into truly helping people out? Lena would have no problem ensuring he got replaced if such became the case.

"As I mentioned before, in order to tell what the best plan would be moving forward, we would have to do some scans to determine where the best damage is located. Today, it would best to let your brother rest before we make any decision and assess how he is doing in the morning." The doctor's gaze shifted down the hall. He secretly hoped that someone else might come down the hall who could save him from the current uncomfortable situation he created for himself. The hospital never should've agreed to help out the mafia family. These type of were always far too complicated to deal with in a typical manner.

"Are there any risks associated with taking the time to wait and see how he is doing in the morning? Permanent damage or complications that could occur?" The princess pressed as she crossed her arms over her chest and stared the man in the white coat down. Half-assed answers weren't acceptable when it came to her family.

"Generally speaking, no. In fact for some patients, it can be better to wait and see rather than putting them through the stress of additional tests and what not. Rest is one of the best cures for the body after all. If you don't want to take my word for it, there's another professional here I can introduce you to who might be a better fit to answer the questions you have." The doctor turned to leave but didn't get very far before Lena grabbed ahold of his sleeve and jerked him back in their direction rather roughly.

"If there is someone who would be a better fit to answer these questions than you, I don't want you to give us that person to talk to, I want whoever is above them. Aren't there better doctors in this hospital than the ones we have currently been dealing with? Surely the director wouldn't saddle us with someone who isn't competent enough to do their job." The malice hidden behind the level tone make the doctor gulp audible as his eyes shoot over to Julian who made no move to help him out.

He only nodded his head for the doctor to turn his attention back to Lena. Maybe it would be better at this point to end his own life after today and get it over with.

"The director takes his job with patient quite seriously. Doctors aren't assigned by him but based on the concern level of each case." The doctor's tongue swiped across his bottom as sweat began to form on his forehead. He needed to think about his next words very carefully.

"I can see however Ms. Scarlet where the need to bring in more experts can be warranted in this situation with this unexpected change of events. If you would grant me a few minutes, I'll go and call over the best experts we have and they'll do their up most to assist." It wasn't enough but Lena would accept it for now. She jerked her chin to one side telling the other to get on it. She didn't a minute more wasted if she could potentially talk to someone more competent.

Lena glared at the doctor's back as he rushed down the hall, white gown flowing behind him as though something evil were chasing after him.

Lena would make sure that he was thoroughly investigated. In the Princess's eyes, he hardly seemed fit to hold the title of doctor. One more issue to bring up to the director when she saw him the next morning.

Hmm. Maybe it was time for a change of leadership in this hospital. Lena may not have known much about the medical world but even to her unprofessional eyes, it was painfully evident changes needed to be made.

"It's not something that requires the doctor to be put into such a state." Julian wanted to put his hand on Lena's shoulder but she had already moved out of the way and back towards the hospital room.

"Uncle, you should know that fear is one of the world's best motivators. Whether it is necessary or not remains to be seen but it can never hurt." Julian clicked his tongue in response to the other's words. Goodness how much that girl had gone and taken after her father. It should have been her brother but it appeared the universe had two different sets of plans for them.

Julian watched the princess before turning to look in the direction of Zane's hospital room. It couldn't hurt to give the siblings a little bit of time alone together.

"Julian, I hope I haven't caught you at a bad time. I vaguely heard about what was going on and came over to see for myself." Richard casually prowled down the hall way, gaze focused on Julian as he saluted with his hand.

"You didn't catch me at a bad time but it would probably be better if you came back here at a later point. We'll have more information about what's going on at a later." Julian shook hands with the other who ended up pulling him into a warm hug. It had been some time since he'd gotten to speak alone to the gentle younger brother.

"Do you think instead then you'd like to help me out with something while waiting?" Richard whispered the question in the other's ear as he kept his eyes focused past the other's shoulder.
