Chapter 835 T.D.O.N.B: Winners And Losers

He tried, though, to do something. Have you ever heard about fighting fire with fire? Well, in this case, this saying doesn't really work, since he puked some flames to melt the lance, so when it hit him, it wasn't as hard as it needed to be. Thank's to that, it failed to pierce through his skin covered in scales, but it still pushed him off balance.

Which created a perfect opportunity to strike with the sword. The saw-like side, to be precise.

Leonel somehow redirected the hit, with an awkward move of the pudao, but this didn't mean he was out of the troublesome situation yet. He stumbled backward, almost landing on his ass, but at the last moment, he was able to regain his balance, although he had to almost crouch in the process, kicking a lot of sand too.

It looked like a good chance to strike from above, so mister knight seized the moment, jumping forward and bringing his blade down, to smash into the wooden handle of my weapon.

"I bet he thought it would break", I thought to myself when his attack got completely blocked.

He hicked Leonel in the shoulder, but only by chance since his real target was my son's face.  Leonel managed to avoid the direct hit, but it still made him stumble further. He rolled over his shoulder, desperately trying to gain some distance, which only encouraged the asshole to charge.

The situation seemed pretty bad. At least to the regular observers. For me it wasn't ideal, as a matter of fact, it was far from that, but there was still some potential for recovery.

My son did quite a radical move to create a way for himself. He broke off the rolling, to just stretch himself to slap on the ground with his back, and then pushed the transformation further. Two massive wings, covered in shiny small, golden scales, with a dark membrane of thick leather inside, exploded from his back, pushing him off the ground, enough so he fought his balance once again, and was able to block the attack with a powerful swing, forcing his opponent to parry.

The sand sprayed around, and the sound of metal clashing filled the vicinity, as people gasped once again. The flames from the sword were each time almost killed, due to the sheer power of the impacts.

The fighters exchanged a few blows, making orange sparks burst from their weapons each time, then they separated, catching their breaths after an intensive exchange.

I glanced at the audience, and the eyes were so focused on the two men below, that somebody could be running around the pit completely naked, and nobody would even notice. It made me smile.

But I didn't smile for too long, as my eyes got summoned to the action. The asshole raised his swords, then shouted at top of his lungs. The flames covering his weapon burst stronger, and semitranslucent, small shields, in form of triangles, appeared, circling slowly in their orbit oriented around him.

He clearly still had more cards to play. Leonel too.

He touched one of those shields, as it moved, with his off-hand, and it attached itself to his forearm, then grew in size, changing color to more intensive white, then silver, as it became like a full-scale shield, adapted to his new, enlarged, body.

Then he moved the same hand once again, and crystals of ice formed a circle slowly hovering, turning, around his back.

Meanwhile, Leonel, seeing the same thing, decided to show some of what he was capable of doing. For a moment he froze, and this red aura came off his whole body, slowly growing, to become this spirit entity surrounding him. Obviously, it looked very much like a dragon would. It even roared, scaring a bunch of people on the stand.

You should remember that one, although it was a weaker version. John displayed something similar while fighting with the orc boss.

- I didn't know he could do that - he said.

The two warriors rushed at one another, and their weapons clashed, but this time my son had an instant follow-up attack in the form of the red dragon who rushed off his body at the asshole. Toe guy panicked, and allowed the spiritual creation to surround him, and then flames exploded under his feet creating a wide pillar of roaring flames, which swallowed him completely.

He escaped, jumping out of it before the magic stopped, but the smoke coming from his whole body, and the way he moved indicated very clearly that he got hit badly.

It was a clear opening, so Leonel charged without hesitation, he flapped his wings, jumping forward to bring a deadly blow, but it got blocked.

In a flash, Will appeared between the two holding a shining sword, glowing with weird, white, fluid-like energy. He parried the attack with ease, forcing Leonel to jump back.

- Enough! - he said loudly. - Anybody could see who the winner was.

- I didn't lose! - yelled the asshole, panting heavily.

One glare from my friend made him accept the verdict. For a moment, Will's eyes became completely white, and there was something omniscient in the way he looked.

- You lost - he said not losing his cool. - We don't need to spill blood here. Pack your things and leave.

- Do you even realize who my family is?! They won't let this slide! - he heard in response.

- I think you forgot who I am. Do I have to remind you? - the glow in his eyes returned.

I guess it made the asshole panic, as he stormed off, rushing up the stands, and pushing his way quite violently through the people. He caused a bit of panic, but also a lot of laughter from those who felt safe. Especially the people on the completely another side.

- Ok. The show is over! - Will announced. - You can leave now.

I wasn't even really listening at that point, as I shadow walked down, to congratulate my son, and take the weapon back.

I was very proud.
