Chapter 769 T.D.O.N.B: Kids In Action

The very next day I was waiting for everybody with piles of crystals already prepared. I brought with me a new stack of 2 490 000 of points in gems with an additional 219 170 which was left from the previous day.

Everybody got the same amount of 7k points per person. It was a lot in terms of getting good equipment, and even a few first upgrades. I could give them more, but I also wanted to get the next upgrade as fast as possible, because it would allow us access to basically everything we could possibly need, but what was even more important, would unlock the second set of hunting grounds, which was crucial.

The total price of my investment was 280 000 points, so 2 429 170 landed on my account, putting me at 2 873 942 in total. Almost three percent of what was needed for the upgrade.

With equipment people began practicing under the supervision of Tihana, John, and Celestine.

There were a couple of blocks, starting with a review of what was being thought on the previous day, to then mostly sparring in pairs, and a few simulations of how to react while getting surrounded by goblins, take advantage of the surroundings, et cetera.

I didn't contribute to any of that, just watched from a distance as people were getting more and more sweaty. That's how most of my day passed. The next day, I did a quick run during the night, just after midnight, to clear all the spots, except the goblin territory. I brought back 2 088 600 points with me, putting me at 5 023 942 in total. I also had already accumulated 36 class points.

Upon my return, I noticed that people were coming out of the houses already wearing armor, and with weapons in their hands. Tihana appeared at that time too, and she began splitting people into correct groups. Most of them knew with whom to go, but some needed a bit of help with that.

To my surprise, she came to me as she was almost finished.

- You are going with them - she said and pointed at Carmelita, Leonel, Lucas, and an additional woman.

- Me? - I was surprised by her words, but the squad of that group kinda made me want to go, to make sure my adopted kids were safe.

- Yes, you. They have two kids, and additional support could be needed, so it would be good if you could keep an eye on them - she explained.

I knew very well what she meant because the same thought went through my mind.

- Ok - I agreed while nodding slowly.

Then I joined their group of four. They all had the same, standard equipment. A leather chest piece with pads on elbows, knees, forearms, and shins. They also had helmets reinforced with metal, swords, and wooden shields.

I spotted only a few divination from this set. A couple of people here and there had bows, I also noticed a few spears, but for the most part, it was the sword and shield.

- Hi there - I threw at them.

- Wow, now I feel safe - was Lucas's response.

The kids just became a little bit shy around me.

- I'm just gonna watch, and make sure you two won't get my kids killed - I said to both him and the female.

- We can fight too - Leonel protested, showing me the sword he had in his hands.

- I don't doubt that, the problem is your lack of experience - I went down on one knee to get more or less on the same eye level he was. - You've never been in a fight yet. It's way harder than you might think, an n your time to react is very limited. One mistake may cost you a lot, so to make sure you won't have to pay that price fully, I'll be watching from the backline. Hopefully, you will do so great, that I will be just walking around, behind you.

- We will do good - Carmelita accused me, as she touched her brother's shoulder.

The boy nodded with confidence, which made me smile.

- I look forward to that - I said and brought the warmest smile I could muster right on my face.

- Let's go guys - said Lucas, as people began departing. - If we don't start moving, there will be no goblins for us.

We followed the nine groups, who managed to get in front of us. Tihana was leading the whole procession. As soon as we reached the forest of those alien trees with blue and green leaves, sho spoke again.

- Move to your assigned location! After you clear your part of the forest, head to the cave! - she almost yelled.

- Our part of the forest? - I asked my group.

- This way - said Lucas, showing with the sword where to go.

Since he was so quick to respond and had confidence, I didn't question him at all.

We walked for a while, with others before us, and even were able to witness a few fights taking place before us, where people quite efficiently dealt with goblins. I made sure the group wouldn't just stay and stare, because we had our part to clear, but they clearly really wanted to. Especially the kids. I had to bring their focus back a few times to where they were walking because they almost hit a tree couple of times.

Like that, we arrived more or less where we were supposed to, and also noticed the first group of four green monsters ahead of us. Because of my keen eyes and ears, I was able to detect them faster, but I remained silent, to allow the rest to find the danger on their own.

- Ok guys. Quiet - Lucas hissed. - There are four ahead of us. Let's flank them. Two people left side and two right side. Leone, you go with me.

The boy didn't argue, just fixed the shield on his forearm, and gripped the weapon tightly. Then, slightly hunching over, followed the man, while Carmelita did mostly the same, and followed the woman. I crossed my arms on my chest, just watching them.
