Chapter 759 T.D.O.N.B: Building The City

I quickly found my first targets. A weird attempt to create monsters based on goblins. Probably due to the heavy influence from how things worked in Arc, had on our minds. Basically, pieces of meat that tried to assume a humanoidal shape. They were green and gross. Blobs with normal skin, like yours or mine, with dark hair here and there.

I ended their misery as soon as I was able to spot them using a little bit of my magic. They were leaving crystals. Very small ones, which clearly had less value in points, but since there was no 'the device' to use, I couldn't check the value.

I gathered quite a bunch, wondering how I was gonna use them to nourish the seed because there was no mark on the ground next to it. There was also no ball of seemingly swirling liquid to touch. On top of that showing the other people that I wasn't absolutely sure how things work, didn't seem like a great idea, because I had to remain the leader of that place. Undisputed one. Only that would guarantee the unchallenged realization of the plan, which was to consume the fruit when it would be fully grown.

Some of my worries disappeared upon my return to the place where others were waiting for me. As I learned, they attempted to build a camp. Some had brought knives with them, which was mostly useless, because the only bigger vegetation than grass around that place, were very small trees, that actually could be very well classified as bushes.

They picked a different substance to work with. Some loose stones laying around. Those who could carry them began doing so. This led to a wall slowly emerging.

It wasn't really necessary, but at least they had something to do, and the structure could provide cover from the wind in the upcoming days.

When I landed and pulled the crystals from the vault where I kept them, they all disappeared immediately. My reappearance brought everybody's attention to my person so they could actually see that.

I clearly gathered enough, because the place where the seed got planted began changing. The dirt mixed with rocks started melting, then got reshaped into the quite familiar pedestal. It wasn't the exact copy of the one over which the device was placed in Arc, but quite close to that.

I noticed a few smiles, here and there, among people. Definitely due to a visible change due to my effort, which actually didn't require that much time. Maybe an hour or two?

To not waste any time, I immediately departed again, looking for more monsters to gather even more crystals. Some people obviously wished to speak with me, but I was too fast, and their questions got stuck in their throats before they were able to ask them.

My second flight around allowed me to see that the change in the place where the seed was planted, wasn't the only one. The blobs evolved too. Now they almost had limbs and heads formed. There was no bone structure, just weird flabs with almost fingers. Here and there I was able to notice a single eye, or sometimes a mouth with nasty-looking teeth. Overall, they still looked quite gross.

I killed a bunch, traveling around quite fast. Sometimes I went up very high to have a look around. Further from our little valley were little pockets of trees. They had this interesting coloration which was a mix of blue and green.

What was even more interesting, though, was the fact that I couldn't spot any animals. I wasn't sure if there weren't any in that specific place, or perhaps, none existed on the whole planet.

I ended up doing a big circle around the area and killing quite a number of creatures. All I was able to find. This led to me gathering more crystals. Those got slightly bigger too. When I returned and pulled them out of my vault, once again they disappeared, clearly consumed by the seed, still hiding underground.

The rocks under our feet started sharing, and suddenly a bit of the ground around the pedestal raised up. It got pushed by another part of the structure, which surrounded the previous one.

I cleared the earth, which ended up covering more of the thing, just to have a better look at it. Not much except that changed, which led me to depart once again.

The creatures around became more goblin-like with this new change. Now they had limbs properly formed, still didn't seem to be capable of using them properly, but they at least tried to walk around instead of willing, as they did in their blob-like forms.

I also noticed more eyes, some even properly placed on their more head-like parts. The mouths also were showing more and didn't look as disgusting as before.

This time I didn't waste as much time sightseeing, instead focused completely on the task. The time was flying, and the first signs of the upcoming night began to show. The bright blue star in the sky began vanishing.

It didn't actually mean much to me, because I knew that I would be able to keep hunting even at night, but with the fast development of the seed, I actually started to feel like maybe I could finish the whole thing in one day.

My previous worries that I would have to wait a whole day for a respawn of monsters proved to be not a thing. At that point, I didn't know exactly what was the reason behind that, but with time I learned that it was due to the upgrades. As each one was resetting the creatures in the vicinity.

I returned once again with more crystals, and those again disappeared. This upgrade thought caused a very little ruckus since only the pedestal opened up, revealing a much smaller ball, which flew slightly up, then stopped levitating around a meter above the ground.

It looked like a miniature version of the device I was used to seeing in Arc.
