The man was handsome, with standard sharp fox eyes, and long, black hair interspersed with strands of white.

He gently stroked the fox cubs in his hand and sat back down. “You’re no fun, you saw through my disguise from the start.”

The voice was low and hoarse with a touch of beastly ferocity.

Bai Lixin also walked up to the man and sat down, “Did you set the brazier just now?”

The man thought for a moment, “That is incorrect.”

Bai Lixin frowned slightly, “That is incorrect? That means you are not the only one in this matter. Who else is there?”

The man: “If you’re so smart, why don’t you find out for yourself? I’m not going to tell you. But I’m curious, who are you?”

“You’re different. You seem to have appeared out of thin air. You appeared suddenly, but don’t seem to be quite here.”

“Well, you can think of it as us coming to the future,” Bai Lixin said. “And even if you don’t tell me, I’ve actually guessed a bit.”

“Oh?” The man raised an eyebrow, “Tell me about it, but even if you’re right, I don’t have any prizes.”

“I’ll tell you a story I’ve made up,” Bai Lixin pondered for a moment and organized his words. “Twenty years ago, the fox father returned from a hunt and found that his wife and children had been killed. He wanted to kill his enemy and avenge his wife and children, but he was hungry and the cold made it impossible for him to find much food and his strength became poor.”

“In addition, the snow covered the scent, so he searched long and hard and finally found his enemy at the foot of the mountain.”

“Perhaps the mansion happened to catch fire when he was just halfway to the chase, and the smell of the fire masked the scent of his wife and children.”

“I don’t know what the purpose was, but after the fire was out, the vengeful fox returned to the mansion, searched around, and found a living person inside.”

“He rescued that person from the wreckage.”

“The person and fox cooperated, and eventually found Lord Li.”

“Then the plan for revenge began. I assume the person you rescued was a human being? The lady of the Liu family?”

The man laughed at that, “That’s an interesting story.”

“I almost thought you were there, but unfortunately, you made a mistake in some places.”

“I did rescue someone at the Liu Mansion at the time.”

“The events were similar to what you said, but I wasn’t stopped by the smell of flames. It was time for my final transformation at that point.”

“I was so weak that even if I had caught up with them, I would have just given them an extra fox fur for nothing.”

“I was at a critical point in my transformation and could be in danger at any time. In order to prevent myself from failing to transform and dying, I decided to get an ally.”

“ I went back to the Liu residence and rescued the one who still had a trace of breath. But that one’s face had been burned and disfigured, and the skin all over her body had been burnt.”

“But fortunately, she was hanging on to that breath.”

“That was as much as I do since I was already weak too, there was really no way I could help her any further. After giving her a few words of advice, I found a cave for my transformation.”

“The transformation took a long time, and by the time I left the cave, more than ten years had passed outside.”

“The one that surprised me the most was the person I rescued, she ……”

Bai Lixin: “She was skilled at medicine, not only did she heal the burns on her body, she used some method to have a new face, didn’t she?”

The man looked at Bai Lixin in surprise, “How did you know that?”

Bai Lixin did not answer the man’s question, but only continued, “Not only did she change her face, she successfully infiltrated the Li family. In order to investigate the truth about the fire back then, and also to avenge her parents.”

“I believe her name is now Feng Gu, right?”

The man’s eyes suddenly became sharp and cold, exuding killing intent, “Why do you know so much?”

Bai Lixin stared at the man for two seconds and suddenly smiled, “It seems that Feng Gu is really Liu Changfeng’s daughter.”

“I was just speculating.”

“Li Changfeng…Feng…Feng Gu. Of course the names could just be coincidental and not be taken as evidence.”

“Liu Changfeng is from a family of medical practitioners and has excellent medical skills, and so does concubine Feng Gu. I once investigated where Feng Gu’s medical skills came from, and the answers I got were that she had learned them from her family. But when asked again where her family was, she said they had died.”

“Of course, being able to heal is not a very special trait. Holding those two as evidence, I could only say that it was coincidental.”

“Then there was tonight, whether it was the performance or the final curtain call by Bai Ban, I was secretly watching the expressions of the people in this Li household.”

“Madam Li and Lord Li were horrified, while the others were all enthralled and sighing.”

“However, Feng Gu looked like she was restraining herself. I could see from her clenched fists and resentful eyes that something was wrong with her.”

“That kind of emotion was not something one could get just by watching a play.”

“If there are only one or two coincidences, perhaps it really was a coincidence, but if there are many, I can only conclude that something is wrong.”

“But I was unsure, so I just tested you to get the answer out from your mouth.”

“Thank you, I know now.”
