[Dilemma]

The knights shoot their bows and crossbows after I landed on the wall, raining down arrows on the Abyss Walkers and the white robed people outside.

“Since Frick has worked hard, I think I’m gonna give some help to drive them away, too.” (Cinzia)

When Cinzia gets down from Diedur and touches some rocks, that are the wreckage of the broken wall, the rocks turn into a golem.

The rock golem that was created by magic drops to the ground and challenges an Abyss Walker who is trying to approach the walls to a close quarter combat.

“Cinzia-sama, I think it’s better if you don’t be rash. The knights are shooting from the walls, after all.” (Frick)

“They won’t hit anything when they’re shooting while hiding. Besides, with golem!” (Cinzia)

The rock golem clings to the Abyss Walker and then blows up with a loud explosion sound.

It shattered into small rocks, like gravels, which get shot to the surroundings by the force of the explosion.

The white robed people near the Abyss Walker get hit by the gravels and are writhing in agony.

“See! Suitable for the situation, don’t you think! It’s not enough to beat the Abyss Walkers, but it should scare away those white robed guys!” (Cinzia)

“I see, then, I’ll help, too!” (Frick)

I create a golem from rocks, just like Cinzia did.

After having it clung to an Abyss Walker on the ground, I make it explodes, shooting gravels to the surroundings.

The enemies are returning fire to the knights who are shooting bows and crossbows from the top of the walls for a while, but upon realizing that they’re at disadvantage due to the rush of the rock golems, they retreat to a position where the arrows can’t reach.

“Looks like we’ve managed repel the enemies here. I’m gonna go to the mansion first. You should heal your wounds before you come. If you come with such appearance, Noelia and Al are gonna be worried, after all.” (Cinzia)

“I know.” (Frick)

There is a large hole in the chest part of my clothes, and the chainmail underneath it has a dent.

After sending off Cinzia and Diedur, who dexterously descended down the walls, I look at the injury on my chest.

“Phew, I have to heal my cracked ribs for the time being.” (Frick)

I pull out the crushed metal ball from my chainmail, which has a large dent on the chest part, and throw it nearby, before starting to chant healing magic.

After being wrapped in the pale light of the healing magic I casted, the throbbing and painful injury on my chest is healed.

“Thank you so much for the reinforcements, Frick-dono.”

The one who calls out to me who just healed my injury is Meiss, having climbed up the walls as though to replace Cinzia.

There’s a cloth wrapped around his left eye, though…

No way, he got injured?

“Meiss-dono, what happened to your eye?” (Frick)

“The metal ball like the one that you took on your chest bored through my eyes. Fortunately, there was a mage who was good at healing magic nearby, so my life wasn’t in danger, but my crushed left eye couldn’t be restored.” (Meiss)

Because the sounds of sporadic dry explosions and the sounds of things flying through the air are still audible on the walls, we, including the knights, are hiding behind the parapets.

“I’m horrified to think what would have happened if you, the commander, had lost your life, Meiss-dono.” (Frick)

“So am I. After I got shot, I had the knights on the front-line wear helmets that covered their faces and had them shoot while hiding behind parapets. Some still became victims, however.” (Meiss)

Meiss looks at the parts of parapets that had collapsed.

“Parapets that got directly hit by fireballs and fire arrows shot by the Abyss Walkers were blown away along with the knights hiding behind them.” (Meiss)

The fireball that’s fired from the red light, huh…

That thing explodes, and the power of the explosion can even erase people if hit directly.

“However, we’ve confirmed that the fireballs shot by the Abyss Walkers have a short range, so we’ll be fine as long as we don’t let them get closer.” (Meiss)

So that weapon has a short flight distance.

Now that I think about it, back then at the Abyss Hole and also the mine, the fireballs were shot from a relatively close distance.

“I see. I feel sorry for the knights who have fallen, but looks like the fact that the enemies haven’t make much progress in their attack is thanks to Meiss-dono’s calm commands. No wonder Frontier Count-sama entrusted you to hold the fort during his absence.” (Frick)

“I don’t deserve the praise. The sieging enemies clearly have not shown any intentions of taking down Youg Hannotes. Perhaps, they are intending to only keep us inside the walls. And I have heard about the monstrosity called Genocider from Noelia-sama who has arrived first. I, too, think that the other party are intending to pull off a similar plan as the one Lloyd-sama had conjectured.” (Meiss)

“The plan where the enemies have the Genociders break through the walls and explode inside city, is it?” (Frick)

“Yes, I can’t imagine it, but Noelia-sama said the force of their explosion can destroy this city in its entirety.” (Meiss)

“A Genocider had self-exploded in my home village, and its force was such that parts of the mountains surrounding the village disappeared. While in the royal capital, I somehow made one explode high up in the sky, so the damage was minimal, however. The story told by Noelia is definitely not an exaggeration.” (Frick)

“In that case, I think the enemies do aim to pull off the plan Lloyd-sama had conjectured, after all. I have already arranged so that pictures depicting the characteristics of Genocider are distributed to the knights, but the enemies can break in from anywhere. So, we, the defending side, are at disadvantage.” (Meiss)

The plan that Frontier Count said, Vigo’s organization has the absolute advantage of being able to pick the time and location, from where to break in.

We only have two options, that is to wait for the other party to make a move and respond accordingly, or to take the initiative to go out and eliminate them.

If we stay on the walls and defend, our damage will be lesser, but if we let the Genociders that have yet to be sighted to break through, the entire city may be erased.

On the contrary, if we go out and bring the fight to the enemies, it will become a bloody battle against the Abyss Walkers who have high fighting power, and in all likelihood, we will receive serious damage.

Since the enemy’s forces is unknown, and considering the recapture of Abyss Hole, I’d like to avoid exhausting our own forces.

“It’s a difficult decision to make, isn’t it…” (Frick)

“It is. If at least we can confirm the existences of the Genociders…” (Meiss)

“They have cloaks that can make themselves invisible, so it would be difficult to find them…” (Frick)

“This is truly the worst…” (Meiss)

It’d be great if there’s a way to find them, but…

Once they wear their cloaks, they’d blend with the terrain.

In the royal capital, the reason why Vigo, who had assassinated King Frederick and the others, disappeared all of a sudden was most likely because he activated the power of the cloak.

“Let’s leave this place to the knights and hold a countermeasure meeting at the mansion for the time being. I think Noelia-sama and the others have left the wyverns at the pasture and are already back at the mansion.” (Meiss)

“The enemies also seem to have retreated for the moment, so let’s do so.” (Frick)

The enemies outside the wall seem to have given up on the attack, as the sounds of dry explosion that had been sporadically ringing out from some time ago have stopped.

I decide to hurry back to the mansion where everyone is gathering with Meiss who has finished giving orders to the knights.

Frick should just mass-produce rock golems and have them launch kamikaze attacks on the white-robed people. I mean, they’re the ones controlling the Abyss Walkers and the Genociders, right?
