Chapter 125 - Aren't I great? Want to be my girlfriend? (3)

Fang Chen's dad and the young man were fine, just a bit weak.

The young man was called Xiao Ji. He was Fang Chen's dad's coworker. He recovered a bit faster than Fang Chen's dad.

Jiang Fei fed them watery gruel, and he also stir-fried a few dishes.

Du Ruo brought the dining table into the bedroom and placed it beside the beds. They sat in a circle and ate with the people lying in the bed.

It had been a long time since Bei Nuan ate a table in a family-like setting.

When she was a child, it was her and her dad. They would chat while eating. She would share all the fun things at school with him.

Later on, when her father was gone, she ate alone. Every time she ate, she would bring her food to her desk and half-heartedly eat in front of the screen.

But today, she was eating at a table full of people. The table was too small for this number of people.

Bei Nuan's arm knocked against the right side of Lu Xingchi's chest.

Lu Xingchi simply turned sideways, letting her block his right hand from the table. He switched his chopsticks to his non-dominant hand to eat.

On her right side, it was Du Ruo. He was naturally left-handed. They kept going for the same thing and fighting over food with their chopsticks.

She had to parry off Du Ruo's attempts, but she felt quite happy and blessed with the crowded table.

Lu Xingchi asked the Fang family, "Do you want to come with us? We'll find a safe place for you to settle down. It'll probably be easier than trying to survive in the city alone."

Bei Nuan thought; Lu Xingchi seemed to really like picking up people and dropping them off at a safe place. It was like he was running a courier company. If he really did bring them to a safe place, would it count as fulfilling Fang Chen's third wish?

Du Ruo thought aloud, "We can't fit that many people in the jeep?"

Bei Nuan volunteered while eating a slice of pork belly with garlic sauce, "We still have that small yellow car. Did you forget? I can drive that car and take them."

Du Ruo shuddered and dropped the meat he was holding. He sincerely advised Bei Nuan, "Let's not. It wasn't easy for this family to survive."

To their surprise, Fang Chen and Fang Ye shook their heads at the same time.

"We're not leaving," Fang Chen said, "Grandma is still on the first floor. We can't abandon her."

Fang Ye agreed. "Dad is back. Maybe Mom will come back one day too, and our whole family will be together again. If we leave, how will Mom find us?"

Bei Nuan turned her head to look at Fang Chen's dad.

Fang Chen's dad, who was leaning on the pillow, weakly nodded. "Yeah, we don't want to leave. We'll stay here to wait for her."

Bei Nuan thought; staying in a city that wasn't self-sufficient and was infested with zombies wasn't the most optimal choice from a practical viewpoint. If she was in their shoes, she would never make that choice.

Bei Nuan looked at the two brothers. They were eating and turning around to happily look at their dad.

She suddenly understood their viewpoint. If she was in her original world, her dad hadn't died, and there was a zombie outbreak, she wouldn't leave their home either. She would wait for her dad to come back. If she left and her dad came back, what if he couldn't find her?

Lu Xingchi nodded. "Okay, then I'll help you prepare to stay here for a while."

He did as he said.

That night, Fang Chen and his family slept in the master bedroom. While the others slept on the living room floor, Bei Nuan had the brothers' bedroom to herself. She heard Lu Xingchi coming and going by himself. She didn't know what he was busy with.

A while later, the bedroom door suddenly softly opened.

Bei Nuan's eyes were closed. "Entering a girl's room without knocking, what do you want to do?"

Lu Xingchi closed the door behind him and said with a smile in his voice, "Guess."

"Do whatever you want as long as you're not too noisy." Bei Nuan turned over and pulled up the covers to go to sleep.

Lu Xingchi walked around the bed to the window and put down what he was holding. He welded the steel bars to the window. His movements were very light without any sound. There wasn't even the slightest sound of metal bumping into each other.

Bei Nuan soon fell asleep for real.

In her sleep, she felt someone pulling down the blanket that covered her head.

As fresh air came in, Bei Nuan was half-awake with anticipation. She waited for a long time, but nothing happened.

Bei Nuan opened her eyes. There was no one in the room.

Through the thin curtains, she could see a metal grid on the window and a crescent moon hanging in the sky.
