Chapter 72 - A myriad of ways to kill him (3)

Little Hei glanced at her small, beautiful face and couldn't resist showing off. He whispered, "We're waiting for someone. If that person has already passed here, we have to chase after him."

He kept saying "we". He obviously regarded her as one of them.

Bei Nuan's curiosity was utterly piqued. "Waiting for someone? Who?"

"That I can't say," Little Hei answered, "In fact, the reason we took over this prison and changed it to a shelter was all to wait for this person to come."

After saying that, he seemed to think he had said too much and looked regretful.

Bei Nuan turned her head. Lu Xingchi had his head lowered and wasn't looking at them, but he was quietly listening.

No matter how Bei Nuan tried to get more information from him, Little Hei refused to say anymore.

She knew it. Huo Ren and the others wouldn't have made a refuge out of good intentions. They had put signs everywhere and gathered the survivors in order to wait for their prey to come to them. So then, what kind of person was worth them expending all this effort?

Huo Ren had people and guns. It looked like he had a strong background. A person that he had spent so much effort to find probably wouldn't be an ordinary person.

No matter who the unlucky person that Huo Ren wanted to find, she wished that he would never find that person.

Regardless of whether Huo Ren could catch that mysterious person, he could catch Bei Nuan at any time.

Before noon, the yellow-haired man came to Bei Nuan's room to fetch her.

"Big Bro Huo is looking for you. He wants you to go see him."

It never ends.

Zhen Zhen had been locked in her room and hadn't come out. This time, there was no one to save Bei Nuan.

This person wasn't Little Hei. Seeing his evil smile, Bei Nuan felt that it wouldn't be a good idea to act pitiful in front of him, so she obediently stood up.

She couldn't hide from Huo Ren forever. In the end, she had to go see him.

When Bei Nuan followed the yellow-haired man through the yard, she looked through the crowd, but she didn't see Lu Xingchi and the others.

Where had they gone?

The guard house was very different from the dormitory cells. It was neat and cosy. As soon as she entered, she felt the warm air from the central air. The yellow-haired man took Bei Nuan to the fourth floor.

"Big Bro Huo?" the yellow-haired man knocked on a heavy wooden door.

"Come in," Huo Ren lazily said from the other side.

The yellow-haired man pushed open the door. The spacious room was set up like an office.

Huo Ren was sitting on a swivel chair. A few buttons on his shirt were unbuttoned, revealing a large swath of his chest. His two long legs were resting on his desk. He was leisurely swiveling the chair and talking on the phone.

He glanced at Bei Nuan, said "uh-huh" to the person on the other side of the phone, and gestured at the yellow-haired man to go out.

The yellow-haired man respectfully withdrew and closed the door with a meaningful glance.

Bei Nuan was puzzled. How could he make a phone call? Didn't phones stop working a while ago? There had been no signal on her phone during the journey here.

The phone in his hand looked special. It was sturdy and plain. It looked like a phone from decades ago with a thick and black antenna protruding out like a horn on a unicorn.

Oh! It was a satellite phone!

At a chaotic time like this, only satellite phones could still be used.

"I finally got to rest for one day. I only slept on a bed for one night and you want me to set off again?" Huo Ren's tone showed that he was in a bad mood. "Even a temporary worker only works from 9 AM to 6 PM and gets one day off every week."

Bei Nuan wanted to laugh.

Although, who had the authority to command Huo Ren?

"Fine, fine. Someone really saw that guy? Alright then, I'll go over to take a look. So we don't need this refuge anymore?"

Bei Nuan remained calm upon learning this new information.

"En." Huo Ren ended the call, tossed the phone onto the table, and raised his head to look at Bei Nuan.

He put down his legs and stared at her with narrowed eyes. He looked at her from top to bottom and then bottom to top. He suddenly patted his thigh.

"Come here, sit."

Bei Nuan acted as if she didn't hear him. She stood motionlessly by the door and quickly thought of a myriad of ways to kill him.
