Chapter 33 - Out-of-place (3)

Seeing the approaching zombies, the people inside the restaurant closed the metal shutter door with a crash.

Bei Nuan thought; they were certainly ruthless enough. They didn't give the prisoners any way to survive.

The zombies were rushing over. Unable to enter the restaurant and with no safe path of retreat, the two prisoners could only flee.

Seeing that Bei Nuan had halted, Lu Xingchi also stopped.

He aloofly observed everything. Under the moonlight, his perfect silhouette was like the sculpture of a deity. His long eyelashes were lowered, and his unfathomable gaze was as cold and indifferent as the moonlight. He slightly lifted his crossbow, and several zombies silently fell down.

Bei Nuan sincerely admired his skills. From such a far distance, all of his shots hadn't missed. He was simply inhuman.

The two prisoners noticed that the relentless pursuing zombies had inexplicably fallen down. Although they didn't know how that happened, they didn't dare to turn back to check. In a short time, their figures faded into the distance.

In contrast, there were clamoring sounds over at the small restaurant. This time, the sounds came from people knocking from inside. In a short time, these sounds were followed by several large bumps in the metal shutter door from something slamming against it.

Bei Nuan could hear the desperation in those sounds. She looked up at Lu Xingchi and noticed that he was looking at her as if he was waiting for her to speak.

The roadbed was too high. It had taken a lot of effort to finally climb up. She didn't want to have to climb up again, but she didn't want her Holy Mother image to be broken either. Thus, she could only ask, "Should we… go back to take a look?"

Although she only asked a question, laughter still sounded. Bei Nuan suddenly felt that this sound was irritating.

Just as they came down from the road bed, the metal shutter door opened a bit.

A person struggled to crawl out through the gap. That person's hair was disheveled, and Bei Nuan couldn't make out the identity of that person. Unfortunately, right after that person's head had made its way through the gap, the person was pulled back into the restaurant.

"Take a step back."

Lu Xingchi took a few steps forward and single-handledly opened the metal shutter door all the way.

There was a bout of roaring inside, but it soon fell completely.

The floor was a mess, and there was a nail through everyone's head. There was no longer anyone alive inside.

There really had been an infected person inside the restaurant, and that person's incubation period had recently passed. The space inside the restaurant was too small, and the metal shutter door was locked. There had been nowhere to escape.

Lu Xingchi went deeper inside to check it out. He came out with the owner of the restaurant. The owner had hid in the kitchen's storage area and survived.

The owner's eyes couldn't focus at all, and he trembled like something being shaken through a sieve. After shaking for a long time, he stammered out, "Don't kill me… I… I really didn't hear… I didn't hear anything.."

"What didn't you hear?" Lu Xingchi asked.

The owner looked at Lu Xingchi in horror. Based on his eyes, it seemed he had gone crazy.

Lu Xingchi looked at him. Suddenly, he lifted his crossbow and pointed it at his forehead. He changed the way he questioned. "What did you hear? I'm counting to three. One, two…"

The boss suddenly answered incorrectly, "Inhibitor… an inhibitor for the zombie virus…. That's all I heard. They started killing people after finishing their meal. They killed Liu, Zhao, and the others. I hid. Don't kill me…"

After saying everything in one breath, he crumpled to the ground.
