Chapter 24 - What was the most precious and difficult thing to find in the apocalypse? (3)

Twenty minutes later, they saw a treasure trove of a store. The store sold outdoor products as well as military products. Its variety of products was very complete.

"Little girl, your neck brace isn't very good. Try this." The owner of the store carried out a bunch of good things: stab resistant neck guards as thin and soft as normal collars, small stab resistant gloves, and stab resistant armor for top and bottom that could be worn under clothing.

This armor was as light and soft as normal clothing and wouldn't be noticeable when worn under clothing. It was comparable to the famous armor that Huang Yaoshi gave to his daughter in one of Jin Yong's famous novels. Even a dagger couldn't pierce through this armor much less a zombie's teeth.

Bei Nuan took off the cervical neck brace and magazines, put on the stab resistant armor, and also changed into an assault jacket that fit her and outdoor boots. From top to bottom, her gear had improved enormously. This was an outfit that was truly befitting for the apocalypse.

Du Ruo had also changed into the same type of outfit. However, Lu Xingchi refused. He kept his clothing that wasn't appropriate for the apocalypse at all.

Bei Nuan didn't try to change his mind.

He was the male protagonist. He had to be number one in attractiveness. Besides, he probably wouldn't die.

Lu Xingchi wandered around the store and bought many other outdoor products: tents, sleeping bags, inflatable mattresses, emergency lights, etc.

Bei Nuan chose several wood-burning stoves and portable gas stoves. She also had the owner of the store bring out all of the butane gas canisters.

Lu Xingchi glanced at her stoves. "Are you fleeing from calamity or going on a picnic?"

Bei Nuan studied the portable gas stove while answering him, "Fleeing and cooking meals over a campfire. Neither will hinder the other."

Before leaving, Lu Xingchi recommended to the outdoor gear shop owner to buy as many supplies as soon as possible and hurry to leave the city.

It was currently 5PM.

Bei Nuan clearly remembered reading about the first batch of zombies breaking through the checkpoints and pouring into Ningcheng when the big clock in the downtown area tolled at 7PM.

If that beta software system didn't interfere, Ningcheng's defenses would collapse in two hours.

They left the outdoor store. Bei Nuan thought Lu Xingchi would take them to leave the city, but he drove them back downtown.

Many stores in the downtown area were still open.

"Your pocket dimension is bigger than I thought. We'll continue shopping," Lu Xingchi said to Bei Nuan in a low voice.

That made sense. While supplies were still abundant, they should take advantage of it and buy as much as possible.

Reality proved that men were scarier than women when they went on a shopping spree. It didn't take long for Lu Xingchi to buy out dozens of identical white shirts, pants, underwear, etc. He handed them over to Bei Nuan and lightly said, "a change of clothes."

Bei Nuan really wanted to turn his earlier question back on him: "Are you fleeing from disaster or going on a business trip for a meeting?"

After the third batch of things inexplicably disappeared, Du Ruo finally caught on. After asking about the pocket space, he started his own shopping spree. He bought back enough food to have single-handedly empty out Ningcheng's only imported food supermarket.

"It's rather hard to satisfy my taste buds, "Du Ruo declared.

Alright.

But what was up with the big box after big box of board games?

Du Ruo replied with conviction, "Internet and electricity will probably be down in the future. We have to have some sort of entertainment. Hey, do you know how to play Werewolf?"

Bei Nuan was speechless. Main cast, I transmigrated into an apocalyptic novel, right?

More things had been added into her pocket space. Bei Nuan checked it over again and thought over the timeline in the novel. After their combined shopping sprees, there were ample supplies in the pocket space to survive until the end of the book.

It was already 6PM. There was an hour left before Ningcheng fell to zombies.

"Are we leaving now?" Bei Nuan asked Lu Xingchi.

Lu Xingchi lowered his head to look at his watch.

He looked up and glanced at the nearby 5-star hotel. In a leisurely tone, he answered, "No hurry. I'm going to book a room and take a shower first."

Bei Nuan was speechless.

The zombies were about to invade the city soon, and he wanted to take a shower?

Big Bro, you care too much about hygiene.

Bei Nuan now understood why he looked so neat and clean.
