Chapter 525 - You Like Yuechuan, Don’t You?

“Mom, I wonder if Shen Yuechuan is your child!”

Su Yunjin was shocked by Xiao Yunyun’s words as she was about to close the door.

She blanked out briefly and then gazed lovingly at Xiao Yunyun with a helpless look. “I’ll have none of that. Be quick and get in the car.”

Outside the car—

Shen Yuechuan raised his wrist and looked at his watch. He said to Xiao Yunyun in a threatening way, “You will have to take a taxi back if you don’t get in my car. But it’s rush hour now, and it’s hard to get a taxi here.”

Xiao Yunyun knew she had no choice. She calmly looked into Shen Yuechuan’s eyes and said, “Well, you can’t scare me!” With that, she strode toward the car fearlessly.

Shen Yuechuan gazed at Xiao Yunyun’s back while thinking—

“I’ll get her…”

“It’s just a matter of time.”

With that, Shen Yuechuan followed Xiao Yunyun with a smile. As he sat in the driver’s seat and fastened the seat belt, Su Yunjin noticed the gauze around his hand. She asked with anxiety, “Yuechuan, did you get hurt?”

Xiao Yunyun knew very well how Shen Yuechuan got hurt. She cast a glance of guilt at Shen Yuechuan.

She could tell that her mother cared about Shen Yuechuan. She would be blamed if her mother knew that Shen Yuechuan was stabbed by Zhong Lue because of her.

The resourceful Shen Yuechuan immediately saw through Xiao Yunyun. In order to frighten her, he pretended that he was going to tell the truth.

Then he calmly said, “I hurt myself by accident just now. It’s just a little cut. It doesn’t matter.”

Su Yunjin fixed her eyes on Shen Yuechuan’s hand. “You should pay more attention to it. You’ll be in trouble if it swells.”

Su Yunjin’s worried look seemed familiar to Xiao Yunyun. She thought for a moment and recalled that Su Yunjin looked worried every time she went to visit her when she was hospitalized as a sick child, although Su Yunjin didn’t always have time to visit her back then.

“But Shen Yuechuan simply has a minor cut in his hand. It won’t kill him. Why is my mother so worried about him, like she did when I could have died at any time because of a sickly condition as a child?”

Su Yunjin didn’t realize that she was going too far. She suddenly said, “By the way, Yunyun is a doctor. Yunyun, take care of Yuechuan’s wound. Remember to take him to your hospital if he doesn’t recover well.”

“Mom, you worry too much!” Xiao Yunyun said with a smile, “I’ve already checked his wound. It’s just a minor cut, and I’ve bandaged his hand. He will recover soon as long as he doesn’t touch water in the following few days. Look, he is as strong as a bull. It’s no big deal, is it?”

Su Yunjin was still worried. “You are a doctor. How dare you speak like that? A wound is a wound, and you should be careful with it no matter if it’s a minor one or not! Does he need to change the dressing?”

“Yes.” Xiao Yunyun nodded with a proud look. “I bought it for him!”

“That’s not enough,” Su Yunjin said and then ordered, “Help Yuechuan change his dressing until he gets better.”

“…” Xiao Yunyun widened her eyes while wondering—”I doubt I’m her child!”

Shen Yuechuan, their temporary driver, couldn’t feel happier at that moment.

He didn’t care whether or not Su Yunjin had noticed he had feelings for Xiao Yunyun. He thought that he had left a good impression on Su Yunjin since she was defending him. He even thought that Su Yunjin was already considering him as her son-in-law.

He thought that he had made a good start in pleasing his prospective mother-in-law, although he hadn’t won Xiao Yunyun’s heart yet!

“If I may say so, a bright future is waiting for me, isn’t it so?”

Shen Yuechuan stopped his car in front of the hotel after driving for less than half an hour. He got out of the car and opened the door for Su Yunjin. “Auntie, we’re here.”

“Thank you.” Su Yunjin lovingly looked at Shen Yuechuan’s familiar face as she patted his hand. “Be careful when you drive.”

Shen Yuechuan nodded with a smile like a docile child. “I will.”

Xiao Yunyun knew well that Shen Yuechuan had never been well-behaved. She didn’t get off his car until she saw Su Yunjin walk into the hotel, and then she said to Shen Yuechuan with a teasing smile, “You’re good at playing the good boy part.”

Shen Yuechuan seemed unmoved. He grabbed Xiao Yunyun’s hand and whispered to her, “Remember to help me change my dressing tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I may let slip in front of your mom why I got stabbed.”

“Stop it.” Xiao Yunyun knew that Shen Yuechuan would do what he said. “I get it!” she said while gnashing her teeth.

With that, Xiao Yunyun walked straight toward the hotel without even looking at Shen Yuechuan once.

Shen Yuechuan smiled as he watched Xiao Yunyun’s back. He stood there for a long time after Xiao Yunyun was out of his sight. Finally, he got in the car and drove back to his apartment.

Su Yunjin felt guilty and helpless as she watched from the room upstairs how Shen Yuechuan’s car left.

Xiao Yunyun returned to the room only to see Su Yunjin standing still by the window with her bag lying on the bed, and most of the packet had emerged from the bag.

“Mom, you told us that you were tired. Why don’t you have a rest?” Xiao Yunyun bent over to pick up Su Yunjin’s bag. “Why did you bring so many documents with you to our cousin’s wedding? What are they about?”

Su Yunjin turned around only to find that Xiao Yunyun was about to take the documents out of the bag.

She lost her countenance in an instant. She walked to her daughter with hurried steps to grab the bag and the documents. “These documents are about your father’s businesses.”

Xiao Yunyun had never set foot in business circles, nor was she interested in them, so she wasn’t curious about the thick packet. She flopped down upon the bed as she replied with an “oh” and then sprawled on it.

Su Yunjin sighed. “Nobody would marry a lady as casual as you.”

“I don’t have to get married, do I?” Xiao Yunyun pretended that she didn’t care about marriage at all. “I will have to work and get some on-the-job training at the same time after I get a medical license. I’ll be too busy to get married!”

The fact was that she had decided not to get married in the following years if the one she was going to marry wasn’t Shen Yuechuan…

“Yunyun,” called Su Yunjin.

Xiao Yunyun turned her head to look at Su Yunjin. “Huh?”

“What do you think of Yuechuan?” Su Yunjin suddenly asked.

Xiao Yunyun blanked out. After a while, she asked with embarrassment, “Mom, why would you, say that?”

“No reason.” Su Yunjin smiled as if nothing had happened. “These days I’ve found that he’s a nice person. I just want to know what you think of him because you have been with him for a long time.”

“Frankly, I’m not always with him.” Xiao Yunyun began to explain, for a reason she didn’t understand. “Oh, no, I’ve known him for a long time. But we’re not always together!”

“Really?” Su Yunjin said with an incredulous look, “But he was always protecting you when you toasted. So I thought that you were very familiar with each other.”

Xiao Yunyun almost bit her tongue. “…We are relatively familiar with each other among the eight groomsmen and bridesmaids!”

“OK.” Su Yunjin nodded casually. “So I want to ask, what do you think of Yuechuan?”

Xiao Yunyun had wanted to complain about him as she usually did, but she thought that it would ruin his image in her mother’s mind.

Well, it was clear why she didn’t want Shen Yuechuan to leave a bad impression on her mother.

In the end, Xiao Yunyun decided to be frank with her. “Shen Yuechuan seems to be careless, very casual, and always easygoing. In fact, he is a capable man. Otherwise, my cousin-in-law wouldn’t have trusted him so much. Besides, he’s a principled person who would be horribly angry if someone crosses the line in his mind…”

Su Yunjin replied with an “oh” and then suddenly asked, “Has he ever lost his temper with you?”

“Huh?”

Xiao Yunyun was lost in her thoughts. Shen Yuechuan had never lost his temper with her, although he had often tried to frighten her.

“But, will Mom mistake us if I tell her the truth?”

After thinking for a while, Xiao Yunyun said with a sad face, “I don’t dare to annoy him.”

Su Yunjin burst into laughter. “You like him, don’t you?”

This last question shocked Xiao Yunyun even more than the former: “What do you think of Yuechuan?”

She stared at Su Yunjin with her eyes wide open. She couldn’t utter a word for a long time, as if an egg were stuck in her throat.

She had been keeping to herself that she adored Shen Yuechuan, which Su Jianan might have perceived. She also pretended that she hadn’t fallen in love with Shen Yuechuan, since Su Jianan didn’t say anything about it.

However, Su Yunjin saw through her secret unexpectedly.

How did she feel then?

It was like a little girl who was caught red handed with high heels by her mother who returned home unexpectedly, as soon as she had taken out the most beautiful pair of high heels her mother had on the shoe cabinet and put them on.

She felt so embarrassed from head to toe that she wished there were a crack in the floor for her to burrow into.

Su Yunjin smiled as she gazed at Xiao Yunyun’s flushed face. “Take it easy. You’re old enough to get into a relationship. You can love whoever you want. Just tell me the truth.”

“The truth?”

“No!”

Xiao Yunyun subconsciously said, “I don’t like him!”

Su Yunjin wasn’t surprised by the answer. “Why?”

“Because…” Xiao Yunyun racked her brains and finally came up with a perfect answer. “He’s not my cup of tea.”

Su Yunjin had been through the experience, so she knew whether or not Xiao Yunyun liked Shen Yuechuan.

She could tell the reason why Xiao Yunyun had denied her feelings for him.

Shen Yuechuan was a sophisticated man who was nearly 30 years old of both good appearance and a considerable fortune. A decent, considerate gentleman like him would always fascinate a large group of women even if he did nothing.

In Su Yunjin’s eyes, Xiao Yunyun might think that she wasn’t Shen Yuechuan’s type after seeing some of his ex-girlfriends.

She didn’t think that Xiao Yunyun disliked him. Instead, she could tell that Xiao Yunyun thought Shen Yuechuan didn’t like her.

Su Yunjin thought it wasn’t too bad for Xiao Yunyun to mistake Shen Yuechuan’s feelings. Anyway, she didn’t want Xiao Yunyun to experience what she had experienced.

Su Yunjin was afraid that Xiao Yunyun, who had grown up carefree, wouldn’t be able to bear that kind of unforgettable pain she had once felt.
