Chapter 289 - "Marry Me"

Name:When You Are Mine Author:Da_Rose
After eating the hearty breakfast Jake had made for her, Jade informed him she had to go home, but the big baby held her like a koala.

"Sweetheart I don't want you to go," Jake said with a pout as he held her firmly from behind. Jade chuckled amusedly when he behaved like a sulky kid.

"You're being clingy Mr Beau"

"Just for you," He said slightly teasing her ear with his tongue making Jade giggle.

"It's ticklish" She giggled while Jake chuckled. He liked the fact that she was sensitive to his touch.

"You're just too sensitive," He told her.

"Just for you" Jade replied using his words on him.

"Cheesy girl," He said as he scooped her up and placed her on the couch, while he pinned her down with his body.

"Jake stop, I have to go home. I have to help mother and Amy and I are going to a concert later" She told him, but the clingy man won't hear a word as he stubbornly shook his head. She had been with him all night and now she was supposed to head home and help her mom with the chores since it was Saturday.

"Don't go" He pleaded with a cute sad face. He knew she had to go, but he was just reluctant.

Jade hooked her arm around his neck, kissed the tip of his nose and said, "Be a good boy and let momma go okay?" Jake sighed and got off her. He grumpily sat on the couch and looked outside the huge window with a sulky face. Jade snorted when he acted like a child. She stood up from the couch and pretended to leave, but grabbed her hand and pulled her to sit on his laps.

She smirked, "I thought you were angry?" She teased him, making Jake eye her.

"Now I know you're not going to miss me, but I will," He said sadly. He didn't know when they'll be able to have another time like this. He couldn't forget how delighted he was last night when she said she was staying for the night. He had been worried her mother would not like it, since she still lived under her mother's roof and he didn't want to disrespect her, but Jade assured him she had informed her mother before now.

Despite she assuring him, he had been sceptical about the idea, but Jade insisted. Though he wasn't worried for them, rather he was worried because of her mother, but deep down his joy knew no bound.

He was treated to a night of having her in his arms and cuddling with her all night.

Last night was the best night of his life. Having her in his arm for the whole night and waking up to see her beautiful face by his side, made his heart pound with joy.

Jake's hand went to the back of her neck, he leaned in and so did Jade till their lips locked. Jake couldn't get tired of kissing her. He kissed her so gently because he wanted to have a feel of her as well as put his emotions into it.

"Babe you didn't give me an answer earlier," Jake told her when they broke the kiss.

Feigning ignorance, Jade asked, "What answer?"

"You're joking right?" Jake looked at her with disbelief written all over his face. Who forgets such a question?

Jake had woken up this morning to the sweet assault of his girlfriend, who was nibbling on his lips trying to steal a kiss from him. He had been so happy that the first thing that came from his mouth was, "Marry me"

But she had chuckled amusedly when he groggily said that. She cupped his cheek and said, "You're feeling sleepy. Sleep some more"

Jake had sighed and closed his eyes back to sleep for few more minutes. But the truth was he wasn't feeling sleepy at the time. He meant those words.

"I thought you were sleeping," Jade said softly when she saw the serious look on his face. Yes, they had talked about getting married, she had even offered to propose to him, but she wasn't really expecting him to ask her to marry him in such a way.

"Well now you know I wasn't. So Jade Peterson will you marry me?" Jake asked again.

Jade looked at his face for a while making Jake feel slightly nervous. She was thinking about it? He thought she would readily say 'yes', so why was she thinking about it.

The more Jade stayed quiet, the more his anxiety grew.

"Ba..be–"

Cutting him short Jade said, "I know I should be happy about this but–" She intentionally slurred.

"But what?" Jake asked with unease, his heart was slightly racing.

Flicking his forehead, Jade said, "That's no way to propose to the love of your life. You got to step up your game man" She replied, as she tried to hide the smile on her face.

"So you're saying?" Jake wasn't sure he understood what she was saying. His brain had turned off due to nervousness.

Flashing a happy smile, she hooked her hand around his neck and said, "Of course, I'll marry you dummy" her smile broadened when she saw the nervous smile breaking on Jake's face.

"You will?" He asked uncertainly even when there was no reason to. He just wanted to hear her say it again.

"Yes, I will. Who else is going to manage all your clinginess? I'll bear the world's burden of having to deal with you by taking this handsome dummy off its hand" She said smilingly.

"And I'm sure the world will be indebted to you" He happily replied, before claiming her lips.

"You still have to give me a real proposal. This is just rehearsal right?" Jade couldn't help but ask, while Jake bobbed his head up and down.

"I'll give you the best engagement party only my queen deserves," He said before crashing his lips against hers again. He was feeling happy and his heart was swollen with joy. He couldn't remember the last time he had ever been this happy.

"Honey I'll make you proud" Jake swore, while Jade smiled before kissing his forehead.

"I know"

"Ummm, babe?" Jake nervously called when he remembered something.

"What?" She replied, looking at him sceptically. She knew that look on his face.

"I was thinking about getting Kevin a new game set–"

Cutting him short, Jade asked, "Did he ask you? That boy I'm going to teach him a lesson"

Vigorously shaking his head, Jake replied, "He didn't ask me. I just thought he needed one. I played a game with him remember?" Jake said with a serious face while Jade looked at him sceptically.

"You know you're a bad liar right? And you shouldn't be lying to me" She told him.

Tightening his hand around her, he shook his head making a cute face, "Honey I'm not lying"

Jade shook her head and hissed. "Do whatever you like. It's not like I can stop you anyway"

Jake smiled when he heard her. "You're just the best"

....

After spending more time together, Jake reluctantly let Jade go. He sluggishly took his bath and dressed himself up. Even his steps were slow and Jade couldn't help but shake her head amusedly.

Jake held her hand in his as he drove her back home. He didn't let go of her hand till she stepped out of the car.

"Can I come in?" Jake asked when Jade was about to leave.

"Hmm?"

"I want to say hi to mother. I should right?" He didn't know how all these things worked, but he felt it was the right thing to do.

"Okay" Jade smiled at his thoughtfulness.

"Wait," He said before hurrying towards the trunk of his car. Jade furrowed her brows when she saw him carrying a bunch of stuff out of his car.

"What are those?" She inquired.

"Just stuff" He casually replied.

Jade's eyes widened when she saw the Ps5 game set which he brought out of the car among other things.

"Didn't you just–"

"I have my ways" He winked at her before walking past her.

"Come on, let's go see my In-laws"
