Chapter 224 - Can't Find Him

Name:When You Are Mine Author:Da_Rose
Blake and Amy continued to look at one another in silence. Amy was yet to understand the words he said to her. She had never seen him as someone useless, never had she shared that thought, so why had he said that to her? Ann why had he spoken to her with such a tone, like he was irritated or angry at her.

As a matter of she had always seen him as an intelligent and resourceful man despite this intentional effort of acting lazy. And wasn't that one of the reasons why she had like him? So why was he sounding that way with her? Amy won't lie she felt hurt.

She had really been surprised seeing Blake working like that. He had suddenly transformed into something she didn't know he was. No matter how she tried to think of what she had seen, she still arrived at the conclusion that she had indeed seen him working on some codes and that was something unbelievable. Something she didn't think he'd be able to do.

But the question was how? He had never shown any interest neither had she seen him working on any codes since she started working there. She has always wondered if he really knew nothing about programming since he worked in the only department which had nothing to do with programming nor designing. So how was he able to do that? He had just done what she couldn't have done, neither would any damn programmer do in such a short period of time.

He had just personally done a software change control and that was absolutely shocking.

"You really have to stop looking at me like that" Blake said in a slightly cold tone that made Amy frown even more, but she quickly let go when her eyes caught up another upcoming alert on the monitor.

"I think you have to look at that. It seems he's about to disable your software" She said making Blake turn back to the screen.

"Not again" He hissed frustratedly.

"Why don't you finish up that change monitoring so that the other softwares can be isolated from the server, and I can-"

"Cover the network periphery by doing a network propagation" He interjected her leaving her completely stunned one more time, because he had just read her mind.

It was almost as if they had suddenly become telepathic. But how then did he know any of these?

Amy looked at him for some few seconds before plonking herself on a seat before one of the systems and started working with him. She'd ask him after they've dealt with the ongoing threat.

.....

Mrs Walker's office

Mrs Walker was startled when the door to her office was rudely flung open.

"What the-" Her words trailed off when she saw who had barged into her office. She was startled out of her mind.

"Hello mother" Lair greeted with an insincere smile as he walked into her office.

"What are you doing here?" Mrs Walker asked in an angry tone as she hurriedly tried to put away the file in her hands.

"What's that?" Lair asked as he quickly approached her desk.

"Nothing that concerns you" She replied in cold tone as she tried putting it away into one of her desk drawers, but she wasn't fast enough, because the next second Lair had snatched the document out of her hand.

"Give that back this instant" She roared with angry eyes, making Lair look at her with an equal gaze, he was unfazed by her outburst. His gaze on her showed he wasn't there to play. He had waited on her till she finished her little meeting with that unknown man and had tailed her to the office. He knew he had to do this, because this was the only way he could protect his little sister.

"Lair!" She called as she tried reaching for the file but Lair moved away from her. His gaze on her were fierce and intense. Mrs Walker was a bit uncomfortable with the cold look in her son's eyes. She knew him well to know that as the most rebellious of all her children, he didn't do as he was told. He was equally as stubborn as she was.

"Mother I'd advice you to stop this right now or maybe you want me to call Father to personally demand for this personally. It's your choice" He menaced. His words and tone made his mother's quiver in fear. She wouldn't want that to happen. Having Jacob seeing this would be trouble for her and she'd indeed lose her husband, her marriage and her children for sure.

She kept looking at him with an awkward look on her face. Lair sighed and returned his attention back to the file in his hand, when he saw the resigned look in her eyes. He took a look at the documents and his eyes slightly widen. He snapped his head towards his mother who was now looking at him, with a gaze which he'd interpret as one of fear.

Seeing the way Lair was looking at her she looked away before slumping down on her seat with a defeated look on her face.

"What's the meaning of this?" Lair asked confusedly, but his mother kept looking in the opposite direction, not trying to meet his eyes.

"Mom I'm asking you! What does this mean?" He asked irritably, his voice slightly raised at her.

"What you saw is what it is. I can't find him" She replied with a deflated tone, as she turned to look at him.

"What do you mean you can't find him?" Lair asked in a disbelieving tone. "You put him in jail. You sent him there, so why don't you go there and bring him out" He asked angrily.

"Lair don't make things harder than it already is" She hissed in annoyance, making Lair scoff in disbelief.

"I'm making things hard for you?" He asked, looking at her incredulously. "Aren't you the making things hard on yourself? I only asked a simple question mother, why does this document mean? Why can't you find him?" He angrily asked slamming the documents on her table.

"I don't know" She yelled exasperatedly.

Her response suddenly made an awkward wave of silence sweep across the room. Lair stared at her in shock and disbelief.

She raised her gaze to look at him helplessly, "I can't find him. I've checked all the correction centers, documents, everything I can't find him. It's like he had suddenly disappeared into thin air" She said in a low and confused tone. It was clear that she was also confused about the whole situation.

"But that's impossible. People don't just disappear from prison. He's a person and person's just don't disappear. There's got to be some reasonable explanation for that, right? I mean we're talking about a whole system. Someone don't go missing from a place like that. There's got to be something. Files, cameras, anything...you know these stuffs" Lair told her, his gaze on her was strong, intense and obviously angry. He couldn't believe what she was saying.

"And I've checked. I've personally been to the prison. I've checked every document that's to be checked. And I came up with nothing. It's like he wasn't even there before. I would have almost doubted him ever being there, if I hadn't put him there myself" She hissed.

"Then how do you explain this sudden disappearance?" He asked.

"I don't know. I tried finding out if there was had been any changes before, like transferring of inmates or if maybe he was let out on parole but there nothing. There's no paper trail, nothing!" She informed him.

Lair sighed deeply as he pulled out a seat in front of her desk and sat on it. He looked at her and sighed when he saw the distressed look on her face. It seems she was finally understanding the gravity of what she has done.

"So what does this mean? Could he be dead? But even if he was there has got to be some documentation right?" He inquired.

"Yes there has got to be one, bit there is none"

"So you're saying you don't know if he's dead or alive?" He narrowed his eyes at her.

"Yes" She replied firmly.

"How is that even possible?" Lair demanded. The possibility of someone disappearing from a government correction establishment with no paper trail was unfathomable. it was something that only happened in movies and not in reality. He didn't understand any of this. Nothing she was saying now makes sense.

There has got to be some logical explanation for this.. And the only one he could think of right now was, someone has deliberately removed the information they needed. But why
