Chapter 168 - Big Mistake

Name:When You Are Mine Author:Da_Rose
Jade wasn't sure why she was getting angry over what Jake had said, but she couldn't help it. She simply wanted to leave there right away.

"Hey! Jade wait" He said as he walked up to her and stopped her.

"What now?" Jade raised her brows at him, shooting him a pointed look. From her look and from the way she was trying to walk away from him, Jake was certain that Jade was indeed angry over something.

"Jadey, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Jake asked with concern.

Jade felt like rolling her eyes at him but she refrained herself. "Nothing it's wrong. I'm fine, i just want to go home, you can go ask your girl out" Jade said as she tried walking away again.

First he snubbed her and now he was making silly request from her. She should go help him talk to a girl. Wasn't he a playboy, he shouldn't need help in that department would he? She shouldn't even been bothered with him, he was a notorious playboy, so things like this was nothing to him.

'But why am I even affected?' She asked herself.

Jake cocked a brow at her. Was she angry because of what he said just now or it was the thing that has been bothering her before, which of course was the reason why he was there.

He walked up to her again and held her hand to stop her.

"Jade are you angry? I came here to see you because I noticed you were sounding a bit off over the phone, so what's wrong? Are you angry at me? Did I do something wrong?" His tone was tensed and his eyes kind of looked scared. Scared she was going to start hating him just when he has realized his feelings for her. Jade looked at his hand on hers and then she raised her gaze to his face.

He came to see her? But didn't he say..

"Didn't you say we'd only see by Friday?" Saying that now she also realized that might also be one of the reasons why she has been feeling cranky. When Jake told her they would only see by Friday, she didn't know why didn't like that at all. She felt Friday was too far.

"Yeah I know I said that, but when my awesome and beautiful friend sounded like she was angry or probably having a bad day, I came running. So tell me what's wrong with you?" Jake asked peering into her eyes. Jade held his gaze and he couldn't help to look even deeper into those blue eyes. Jade stood there as she continued looking at him, her stupid heart was beating frantically from Jake's intense gaze on her. Looking into her eyes with so much worry and holding her hand even though it was out of friendly concern was having a huge effect on her, one she didn't understand. It was like she wanted this little moment to tarry a little bit longer.

"Jade?" Jake called out in a soft and gentle tone slightly tingling her ears.

"Uhmm" She mumbled out.

"Why are you angry?" Jake asked again lowering his voice a little bit more.

Was she angry? Yes! For what reason? Trivial issues she probably shouldn't think about, but yet here she was.

"I just had a bad day" She lied. She couldn't possibly tell him she has been angry all day because he had acted strangely to her last night. Or could she? He had practically snoobed her and acted like he simply wanted her gone at the time. He didn't have to say it, she felt it. And she has spent the night thinking about what could have suddenly changed his mood especially when they were having a good time, or maybe it was she who had done something wrong. For some unknown and awkward reason she has anticipated his call all day, even though they rarely did the calling thing.

"Are you sure?" Jake asked doubtfully.

"Mmm" She nodded in response.

"So would you like me to make up for your bad day?" Jake flashed her his killer smile. Jade felt an electric surge in her body, when he smiled at her like that. He really should stop doing that. She could feel the hair on her skin stand and her heart kept thumping. Jake's handsomeness was messing with her mind, and the way he was talking to her and looking at her was making some sort of heat flow through her. His big palm was still wrapped around her small hand and she wanted it to remain so at least little longer.

She knee she shouldn't be feeling towards a friend and most especially towards a guy like him, who had a bad reputation. But she couldn't help things.

Makeup for her bad day? She knew what he meant. He was going to spend time with her and they could do some fun stuff like they always did, but she found herself asking him, "How?"

"Hmm" Jake cocked his brows like he was thinking about what he could do to cheer her up, "We could go see a movie, go to the karaoke or go for some food adventure, you know just like before. Or maybe we could play games and I'll cook those egg Benedict's for you or maybe something else" He said with a happy smile, he was already feeling excited about doing any of this things with her.

Jade also liked this ideas. She also wanted to do this things. Please don't ask her why, because she also didn't know.

There was this thing about Jake that made her anticipate seeing him or made her feel dissappointed when their time together came to an end. As much as she liked the options Jake had laid out, she also knew she couldn't do it because her best friend needed her attention.

"I'm sorry. As much as I'd like to do that with you, I still can't go" She told him in a slightly disappointed tone.

"Why?"

"Because I have to see Amy" She said in a small voice, her gaze was apologetic.

"Oh" Jake remembered she had mentioned something like that.

"Sorry" Now she was feeling apologectic that he has come all the way here just to see her but now she had other arrangement. All her initial grievances were forgotten.

" Don't be, I know how important she is to you. Maybe I can drop you off?" That would give him some time to spend with her. The last few hours were sort of traumatic for him. After Jade ended the call, he couldn't focus on his work as he was greatly disturbed about the way she sounded. He pondered if he had done something wrong or if someone had pissed her off.

He thought of several ways to ask her about it or maybe cheer her up. He had resulted to an online search for tips on how to pacify a girl. Believe me the number of information he saw there was terrifying and they all seemed over board. Ranging from sending flowers to chocolates, to going for romantic dates, or having makeup sex, which he would have gone for, if Jade was his girlfriend.

He had finally decided to come in person, leaving a mountain of work unattended to just to keep her company.

"You don't have to do that. I can take a cab" She declined his gesture.

"Nonsense! I'm here so I'm taking you there. So come with me young lady" He said pulling her towards the car before she could say, "Okay" her hand still buried in his. There was something about the way he held her hand in his, the feeling was indescribable.

Jade couldn't stop thinking about all this feeling she was having whenever Jake was around.

Was it possible that what her mother and Kevin said was right?

Was she having feelings for Jake? She looked at their hands again and then listened to her ranging heart.

If she was, then she shouldn't.. Because this was going to be another big mistake.
