Chapter 85 - Extend It?

Name:When You Are Mine Author:Da_Rose
Jade was more enthralled by the interior of the car she was now sitting in. She had seen this beau only on magazines and on the internet. She often wondered if she'd ever know someone who would be crazy enough to buy this pricey car. Or if ever she'll be able to see one in her lifetime. And now here she was sitting in one. Jade's eyes roamed around the car trying to take it all in. This was something to tell that little brother of hers. He'd be thrilled and jealous at same time.

Jake watched her amusedly as she kept looking around the car. He stared at her silently, because he didn't want to interrupt whatever she was feeling at the moment.

Jade's eyes suddenly met his and she instinctively bit her bottom lip in embarrassment. She couldn't believe she has been shamelessly drooling over this man's car in his presence and he was just staring at her like he has found the newest toy he was fascinated with.

"Sorry...I couldn't help but adore you car" Jade said embarrassedly as she tried avoiding his gaze.

"I take it you love cars or you simply love this one in particular" Jake asked with a smile. Maybe he should never bring this one out again or the care might be useful to him someday.

"Yeah, I do love cars, most especially this one" Jade replied brushing her hand over the dashboard like she was trying to sooth it, this she did subconsciously.

"I see" Jake said with a meaningful smile. It really does seem he has found something to his own advantage.

Jade retracted her hand when she realized she was embarrassing herself in front of this man again!. She cleared her throat and looked at Jake, who could tell she was beginning to feel self conscious again. He looks at her waiting to hear what she wanted to say.

When people did that, I mean clear their throat, didn't it mean they had something to say or they were making their presence known??

"So..what game house are we going to?" Jade asked. She'd love to be done with this as soon as possible, not just because she had other plans, but because she might die due to the fact that she was totally uncomfortable.

"That can wait. First we have to grab some breakfast" He said with so much nonchalance.

"Breakfast?" Jade asked with surprise. Weren't they supposed to head to the game house immediately? At least that what she thought.

"Yeah. I don't joke with breakfast and I definitely can't play in an empty stomach. My brain juices dry out without food" Jade listened to him like she was lost and she didn't understand a word he just said.

"You don't mind if we have breakfast right?" Jake asked raising a brow. Jade looked at him silently before letting out an inaudible sigh.

"No, as far as you don't take too much time. I still have other things planned for the day" Jade informed him and Jake didn't miss the word 'you' which she had used to replace 'we'.

"Okay" Jake said before looking ahead to drive off.

Jade looked outside the window. She didn't have anything to say and she was currently enjoying the silence prevailing in the car and she wished it would remain that way. She'll as well enjoy the ride in this dangerously beautiful car.

Jade anticipated the godly move of this car. She had read about its tremendous speed and she was anticipating it. Soon Jade turned to look at the man behind the wheel like he was some sort of alien. Why was the car moving so slow, even slower than an ordinary car. At the rate Jake was driving she was sure they'll never arrive at wherever they were headed today, even if they did, maybe by twilight. This was an insult to the reputation of sport cars.

Jake felt her gaze at him and indeed there she was staring at him like he was doing something wrong. Jake tossed her a quizzical look, it was then she realized that she might actually be staring at him in an awkward way.

"Errmm..I'm sorry sir, but can we go a bit faster" Jade said. She bit her lips again after spurting those words out. Hope she didn't sound rude? She just couldn't help it. First they had to be fast with the breakfast and head to complete the main task of the day. And also it was a rare opportunity to sit in a car such as this, and she hard the urge to see what it can do.

Jake looked at her briefly as if contemplating her request, "Okay. Buckle up" Jake replied and Jade did just as she was told.

Sincerely Jake also didn't know why he was driving so slow. Maybe he liked the fact that she was sitting in his car and he just didn't want this to end soon. Something in him was trying to stall as much as possible.

Jake geared up and he stepped on the gas pedal making the engine roar beautifully. Jake checked his gauges and they were where he'd want them to be. He turned to look at Jade again and he knew she was anticipating how fast the car could go.

Jade heard the engine revving and it made her excited but she didn't show it. She didn't want to continuously embarrass herself in front of this man anymore. Jake floored the gas pedal and the car jolted forward like it was back to life. The car sped along the road like a lightening bolt, making Jade grip the seat belt on impulse.

She looked out the window but she couldn't make out any of the buildings as they were moving so fast. She could feel butterflies in her stomach, but soon she was a bit relaxed, as she was getting used to the speed at which Jake was driving.

None of her reactions has escaped Jake's eyes, as he kept watching her from the side of his eyes even though she was trying so hard to minimize them. He noticed she was getting relaxed and accustomed to the pace they were travelling. A wicked smirk appeared on his face. 'Lets see how far you can hold up' he said in his head.

Jake shifted the gear one more time and pushed the gas harder, increasing the RPM of the car.

Jade suddenly felt her head spin, her vision was suddenly centered on the road in front of them, her peripheral vision was now gone and everything was in a blur. She turned to look at Jake and she could see he was damn focused on the road. At this point she so wanted him to slow down if possibly stop. But she was too scared to distract him, scared they might get into an accident if he as much as take his eyes of the road for a second. And he just had to wind down the windows.

Thankfully it was a Saturday, and the motorway wasn't as busy as it were on weekdays and it was still early that morning. This were the things that made her a bit relaxed, else she might already be screaming at the top of her lungs.

Jade's grip over the seat belt tightened she sucked in air to prevent herself from puking out that apple she had just munched on.

Jade felt her palm sweat which must be due to the flight or fright hormone, Adrenaline.

Jake was impressed by how tough she was. He had expected her to beg him to go a little slower, but she didn't. How disappointing.

Soon he slowed down and drove at a more comfortable rate but still fast enough to impress the little monster by his side.

Jade eyes caught the time in the car and she shocked to see they have been driving for half an hour. She has been too carried away with Jake's car that she has lost track of time. How far was the restaurant or wherever it was they were headed for breakfast.

Just before she could say a word, she heard Jake say, "We are here"

Jade looked out the window and indeed they were parked in front of a swanky restaurant which had a very awkward name; The Place. Jade thought who the hell would name a restaurant this way. She saw Jake unfastened his seat belt to alight the car and she did the same.

Jake gestured for her to follow him, and she did. Jake walked ahead with Jade trailing behind.

He had an evil smile on his face. He could tell was probably still shaken from how fast they have driven here, but he couldn't be blamed. She had asked for it and he obliged.

They haven't even started and he was having fun already. Should he really keep to the four hours as promised? Why was he feeling like the hours might be too short and he should probably extend it?
