Chapter 37 - The Table's Reversed

Ryjin was asleep and so was most of the camp as suddenly the Camp was awoken by the alert drums as they all jumped up and started arming them self's they rush out of the tent's and towards the Fortifications walls Only to see who whole 110k enemy army now surrounding there fortification and they had ladders and some makeshift towers so everyone knew they have found out about glen returning and want to end it before he arrives with the cav as Ryjin was in on the Command Tower along with Robert and Wallace overlooking the whole Fort and enemy they Knew this would be a fight worth while and also a Risky one They have no archers right now But they have the Praetorian's with 2 Heavy Pilums each they where the First row of defenders as the chosen where behind them on the walls the enemy had his Veteran spear and shield infantry guarding the ones Pushing the siege towers and the battering ram and also the Ladders his archers where at the back Firing volley after volley Yet not doing much damage due to the Roman shields and the chosen shields.

Ryjin Gave orders for Robert to Oversee the Troops from the command tower and for Wallace to take the North Wall while ryjin himself shall take the south wall that way we can help either the east or west if needed Wallace made his way to the north wall with his Highlanders as Ryjin made his way to the south wall once ryjin arrived the troops where all ready and could see the enemy atop the siege towers ready to storm once the tower's doors fall.

:King John: this king Ryjin is someone to be feared he has 20 thousand cavalry and a full elite army but i also have information he has a second elite army for the defence of his Lands if his full army was here I would stand no chance but I managed to catch him off-guard not only that his cavalry is a days march away also his archer's are in the wood's so i have decided now is the time to attack him with a wall of shields behind my army facing the woods his archers can't do shit and wont be able to Help him now he only has his infantry But i have seen how fearsome his Infantry is and they are Terrifying.

-Makes his way forward as he Raises his hand and signals his army to start the attack as towers move forward and ladders rush for the wall's-

Ryjin see's the enemy king sitting atop his horse and in safety of his formation the enemy towers Have arrived at the walls and there doors Swing down and latch on the walls and a shield wall meets a Shield wall it seems this is a game of Push and shove the enemy shield and spears are holding there Turtle formation as the Praetorian's are holding there shield wall Ryjin is behind With his spear and shield his hammer at his waist he scr.a.p.es some of the spear soldiers but no lethal strikes this is a game of who can break who's defence first.

Wallace was having more Luck as him and his highlanders where attacking the tower location's and had broken the enemy Turtle formations with a price of losing half His highlanders but it allowed the Praetorian's to set up a Turtle formation on the towers them self's Stopping them towers from being any use to the enemy now so on the north wall the enemy only had access to the ladders Robert was shifting the Long yari ashigaru around to place's that need any aid there long yari helped alot as they did not need to be to close.

the eastern wall was holding well the western wall was under heavy pressure So Robert sent word to Wallace and Ryjin about the west wall and Ryjin went to the west Wallace sent 50 highlanders to aid Ryjin with the 50 highlanders got toe the western wall and started to attack any footholds the enemy had 4 of the 5 siege towers had a foot hold with ryjin and the highlanders they managed to take 3 of the foot holds Ryjin had taken some Hits from spears but nothing serious or life threatening the last foot hold was To dug in and so Ryjin had the Remaining Pilums launched at it and with 1 volley of Heavy Pilum's that foot hold was broken but that was last of the Pilum's the west had but all the towers where now Blocked by a Tight Praetorian shield wall again Ryjin left the 20 or so highlanders on the west wall to keep them from getting a hold again as he returned to the south wall.

it was now Noon and the fighting had not stopped Ryjin Had to get the Dunedin involved so he had Robert Send the drum signal as the drummer was giving the signal Ryjin saw how the enemy had troops behind there ranks in shield wall in defence of his dunedin he knew the dunedin could only Hail the enemy with arrows but relieving some of the pressure from the Fort was all he needed.

:Dunedin: as they are keeping watch on the enemy army they hear the drums go off and know that signal its the Help signal they where told of the commanders had gathered the snipers and sectioned them in 4 group's the first 2 group's would attack the defensive line that's guarding against the forest as the other 2 groups's make Stand in reserve to make sure there men are always fresh by switching them out every few shots.

Ryjin saw from the south battlements the enemy had sent some troops to there behind guarding against the forest as he could see waves of arrows coming from the forest peppering the enemy lines but not doing much damage as ryjin was was looking he then herd a Huge -BANG BANG BANG- he snaps his head to the east as he see's the enemy battering ram has made it to the game and is bettering it the gate wont hold long at most a Minute it will last fore Ryjin Shouted to Robert to station the Long Yari ashigaru in Yari wall at the gate and skewer any who rush threw the gate.

the long yari ashigaru Rush to the gate and set up there Yari wall as the entire doors entrance is Filled with Long Yari's just waiting for the enemy to charge to there death as the last Bang was heard and a Thud was also heard they knew the gate had fallen and threw came rushing Swords men only to be turned in to Skewed Meat the battle was ongoing and King John was now getting worried it was taking to long and the enemy cav could arrive in the next few hours if that happened he would lose everything so he gave the orders for a Full assault he was panicking now he could not retreat he could only Throw his all in as the order was given his entire army rush'd to the fortification as the maddened men where now In a frenzy for survival.

the walls where starting to get crowded with enemy soldiers as Ryjin and his men now lost around a quarter of the south wall completely the east and west walls around 40% had been lost the north had lost around a quarter too the gate was holding Al bait Only Just the hours had passed the Dunedin had run dry of arrows even there makeshift ones and now the enemy back lines had also moved closer to the fort the Dunedin where about to rush and attack the enemy back lines with there swords how ever they felt something and then heard something From behind the Dunedin a rider was rushing to them a rider bearing there flag and they knew then and there the cav was near the rider shouted that the cav shall be here soon they are about an hour or so away now the Dunedin had to get this Information to There King fast so they rushed to make some makeshift arrows and moved out of the woods to get close to the fort as they took aim at the Forts Command tower with only a few arrows with a message attached they had 5 arrows and out of the 5 only 2 had Hit and landed in the command Tower.

Robert had seen the dunedin shoot towards him and did not know why they where aiming at him however once the 2 arrows Lodged in the wall he saw the Notes attached as he grabbed 1 and read it a beaming Smirk landed on his face as he shouted from the command tower to Ryjin - HOLD THE WALLS FOR JUST A LITTLE LONGER THEY SHALL BE HERE SOON- Ryjin hearing this knew full well what he meant and so did wallace as he and wallace Rallied the remaining troops to get down from the walls and Surround the command area in a Box formation and defend as the enemy rushed in the wall's and threw the now unguarded gate's.

Ryjin had what remaind of his Praetorian's form a Huge box style's Shield wall as the chosen where behind ready and the Long Yari ashigaru where Behind them with spears forward it was a last ditch Defensive formation the enemy had the walls now so all they could do was defend with there shields and Pray that the cav makes it in time.

The dunedin made there way out of the forest swords in hand and made there way to the now enemy occupied walls and gate and started fighting alas losing but still doing damage as the hour was almost up all or Ryjins army was waiting just waiting and praying to hear that sound and to feel that feeling they where down to there Last defence line even Robert was now in the fight as it was a all out Mosh-pit in the fort as the last 4 k of ryjins army made its last stand as the dunedin outside had gone from there 7k down to just 1k and where on the verge of being wiped clean but they still held and kept fighting and it was at that Moment in time it was as if the time had stopped the whole world as a sound echoed threw the land A sound Ryjin Robert Wallace and the remains of Ryjins army Knew yet the enemy King Wish'd he never heard it it was the Horn Glen had a WAR-HORN that sounded loudly threw the plains as in the distance the enemy King could see a Huge line of dust and a massive army of cavalry Heading to him from the south west He hurriedly gave commands for his spear infantry to make a shield wall on the south east side to repel the enemy cav however the cav was not led by the melee but actually led by the Hunic horse archers this would be the downfall of King john as the ground trembled and shook Violently with this horn and the shaking Ryjins remaining men Rallied and Kept fighting Ryjin had taken a beating many wounds on him wallace also Robert had a huge Gash running down his back Ryjins worse wound was his left arm he had been speared threw the army Lucky the boned was not hit But f.u.c.k it hurt like hell.

The cavlry was only around 100 meters from the enemy front lines now as a 10k strong Shield wall of spear-men where now Bearing spears at the cav Only to find them self's being hailed by an ungodly amount of arrows as the Cav seemed to split for 2 separate circles with the cav constantly moving and as the arrows where Raining on them the Melee cav had gathered Much momentum from the Circle Formation and used that Momentum to Forcefully break the enemy Defensive Line's and started a 1 sided massacre of the enemy army as Glen was at the head of the cav as he made his way round the fort aiming for the gate witch was packed full of enemy spear-men trying to block him King john was now on the fort's walls surrounded buy his most elite guards as he watched the battle now Completely Turn its tables on him as he watched in horror as his army was getting slaughtered.

he Made his mind then and there he would at-least take this enemy king with him He shouted to his remaining men to Forgo all defence and to rush and kill the enemy king in the centre of the fort king john also was now in the thick of fighting the force's of 4k of ryjins had been cut down to about 500 in the fort now Robert and Wallace and ryjin where Literally on deaths door as they where so tired and where wounded Ryjin saw the enemy king and knew the enemy would reach him before glen could so He did 1 last thing He Raised his Warhammer as he was standing beside Claw and she was excited and Ryjin shouted with all his strength CHARGE FOR THE ENEMY KING as his remaining 500 men Banded together with Robert on ryjins right as Wallace was on his left they Spearheaded a charge in to the ranks of the enemy to reach there King Claw was just slashing all round her as she was also Heavily wounded But was still going.

the charge was losing it strength as it made its way deeper in the enemy lines Ryjin Wallace and Robert had now reached King john and John and his guards started a vicious battle with ryjin and his 2 generals and the 50 men that is all that remained now as Ryjin was Fighting John John was shouting at ryjin stating how he ruined his life's goal and ruined everything that he shall kill ryjin and take his lands But as he was shouting Ryjin was fighting strongly an John swung his sword at ryjins neck Ryjin moved back and swung his Warhammer Up as a uppercut hit John right on the chin and Broke his jaw and all his teeth But john still kept going despite the pain he lunged for Ryjin with his sword Ryjin wanted to dodge to the left but was slow due to the Tiredness and the Pain he was stabbed in the right shoulder however he lifted his hammer with all his remaining strength and brought it to the side of john's head Crushing his skull in what could only be know as a Trade of blows and his was the victor.

as john fell befor ryjin Ryjin lifted his left hand with his hammer and shouted -KING JOHN IS DEAD THIS WAR IS OVER- with that being shouted they all saw that fight end with Ryjins win and John's army stopped fighting and dropped there weapons and just collapsed on the ground along with what was left of ryjins remaining infantry which number a 20 men the dunedin had been wiped the chosen wiped the yari wiped and only 20 Praetorian's where left Glen rode forward towards ryjin and dismounted to make sure his king was safe But ryjin had passed out asleep so to did Robert and Wallace Glen had to sort out the aftermath so he Had his troops set up camp in the fort he had the enemy soldiers stationed outside the fort and they obliged and made camp outside the fort Glen had the dead collected and separated as enemy and friend he now just had to await the awakening of his king and the generals.

Little did they know this Battle had been witnessed by Lord ash and his 6 most trusted Friends and allies who where also lords Not only them but many spy's and generals of other lords and lands had witnessed this Epic battle and show of Valour by ryjin and his army and they where Truly impressed and amazed by his will and resolve to fight and die beside his men He had unknowingly won the respect of countless lords and generals that day a day that would be remembered as the day The Dragon Family made its name known threw-out the lands.
