20 A fateful meeting

Amelia continued her discussion on Elemental theory. According to the syllabus, the first 2 weeks was fully dedicated on Elemental theory. Xander didn't care much and was either playing with his watch or dozing off until class ended. After all, he had read the books and basically memorized their contents, as well as created his own conjectures and theories relating to Elements.

The greatest framework to understanding the Elements was to understand Elemental Hierarchy. Once you understand it, even an Elite magician could begin doing what a Master or even Legendary magician do, such as elemental conversion, and elemental propagation, provided that the Elite magician has the same magic reserves as the Master or Legendary magician.

Today was fruitful, however, since the teachers did bring up important points concerning the cultivation of magic, clarifying some of the basic understanding of magic cultivation for Xander.

Magic circles are the physical manifestation of rules, they are conformations of the rules.

At Elite class, one forms pseudo-magic circles; they are considered accepted conformations of the rules.

To reach master class, you are tasked to create your own magic circle, which means you need to gain a thorough understanding of the rule and create an "accepted conformation" of the rules. The more primary elements you have, the harder it is to create an accepted conformation, as it requires the primary elements to follow their 'representation' of the rules individually. Since these rules act in concert with one another, the conformation you create must act the same as well. The more "perfect" your conformation you just created, the higher the number of concentric circles created, and the more you can utilize the power of the rule in the universe.

Once in master class, you are to continue creating magic circles by starting to fuse your pseudo-magic circles and produce a magic circle unique to you. You basically fuse accepted conformations into new, accepted conformations of the rule. It follows the same as the first magic circle you made: The more perfect the new conformation is, the higher the number of concentric circles created, and the more you can utilize the power of the rule in the universe in your spell.

To break through Legendary class, according to Ms. Lim, it has something to do with Unity. Xander had a hunch about it after hearing both the teachers' lectures: It was related on stealing, or "copying" the representation of an element. How do you steal a representation? You need a vessel to place it on. It can't be your body because your body wouldn't be able to handle the stress of being a vessel. You would need to use your established Magic Circles and fuse them, enabling them to have the capacity to hold the representation of the rules, and yet at the same time, attract them.

This vessel contains the amalgamy of your magic seeds, your magic circles, and is continously connected to one's life essence. This vessel varies from person-to-person, and may manifest itself in different structures. Generally, it is called a Magic Sphere, because if one would look it under a powerful microscope, it is filled with runic writings and magic circles forming a three-dimensional shape of a sphere.

If one would compare an 81st-class magic circle to a magic sphere and observer their transformations, they would seem to be 80% similar.

An 81st-class magic circle spell would be able to transform into tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of multiple variations possible, allowing the spell to be molded into the limits of the caster's imagination.

It's the same concept as a magic sphere: As a result of its formation, you are able to simultaneously cast your own spells, and even imbue some of your magic spells with the characteristics of other spells. Sometimes, you can even replace the characteristic of the spell with another characteristic of another spell you combined, creating variations of the same spell, making them stronger or weaker, changing their characteristics if needed.

Xander wasn't sure what to do to progress within the Legendary Class, since it wasn't taught yet and he only had a rough understanding about it. Although he could hack into the database of governments, since usually, information concerning Legendary magicians or higher were classified as state secrets, it didn't really contain the learning materials he was looking for. He could hack the school's database however with the help of the system, but it was too much of a hassle to locate at least one of the servers to initiate the hacking.

It was easier to do it for the government of Eta because when he was 5, he was brought into a government facility and was able to touch one of the machines that hosted the intranet of the government. Boom, access granted. He only needed to do it once, and the system would be able to access it wireless, untraceable. It was the same with the internet worldwide. He could access all of them information (well, technically it was the system who can acccess the information he is looking for; He still needs an interface to read the data, which is the smartwatch he owns).

He decided to wait instead for the school to discuss this to the class; probably next semester, or next year. As he was immersed in his thoughts, he didn't realize that there was someone in front of him and bumped at that person.

Xander and the person he bumped was surprised, with the latter staggering, almost falling down if not for the quick response.

Xander quickly snapped out of his thoughts looked at the person he bumped to. It was, comically, Faykes.

Faykes was just minding his own business, talking with a few others, standing in place. He was surprised to see that the person who bumped him was Xander, who he had wanted to talk to.

"Hey, Xander! I need to talk to you!" Faykes exclaimed, and before Xander could retreat, his arms were grabbed by Faykes and was dragged off.

Faykes thought it was going to be an easy task dragging Xander, but as second passed by, it felt like Xander was becoming heavier and heavier. After a minute, it felt like he was trying to pull a building.

Faykes had no choice but to stop and gasp for breath. Xander just eyed Faykes coolly, as if watching an idiot. Faykes looked back at Xander, his face filled with exaggerated anguish. They had only moved for a couple of feet.

"Geez, Xander! I just wanted to invite you to go someplace after school! Why you got to be like that?"

"I refuse. I want to go back to my villa and practice." Xander said coldly. At this, Faykes showed a wide grin. Xander frowned indiscernably.

"Oh, you have a villa? Can I come? I want to see how you practice!" Faykes asked, his voice containing a hint of glee. It seems this was his true objective.

Xander rolled his eyes. Although he was technically 7 years old, and should be happy that there were other people, his soul has experiences thousands of years in solitude as well as surrounded by sprites.

Xander just shook his head and replied, "suit yourself." He immediately dialed the driver's number and called him to pick him up. A few minutes later, the car he came in earlier today appeared in front of him. Xander had just opened the door when Faykes quickly entered the car, grinning.

Xander shook his head helplessly; although he wanted no more but to toss the guy out of his car, he still remembered the guy's backing. Although it wouldn't lose out to his parents' backing, it would still cause some minor inconvenience.

"To the villa." Xander commanded, his voice cordial but still held a trace of authority.

"Yes, Master." The driver immediately started the car and in less than 15 minutes, they had arrived at the villa.

Upon seeing the villa and cross-checking the location, Faykes paled a bit and shouted internally, isn't this the place where my great-grandfather was talking about during the emergency family meeting a 3 days ago?

Faykes originally didn't plan to go to Grand Hyatt University, as he was more inclined to go to higher-ranked universities in the globe. The problem was, the Great Elder, who was the previous Family head, called for an emergency family meeting, causing his plans to change.

According to the Great Elder, there was a large magical fluctuation that was felt by everyone above Master Class, causing the powerhouses of Eta and its government and military officials to convene an emergency meeting. At that meeting, images of where the magical fluctuation appeared were captured, and the Great Elder took this opportunity to draw the image to near perfection.

He then handed copies of the image to his descendants, commanding them to locate it in this city, which is why Faykes was enrolled in Grand Hyatt. Looking at the villa, he was sure of it: This was the site where a large magic circle fluctuation occurred, producing a spell that was roughly in the 72nd class!

He looked at Xander again, this time, it seemed that Xander was becoming more and more mysterious in his eyes. Xander, who didn't know the ruckus he had caused towards the families of the powerhouses in Eta, just looked at Faykes quizzically. He raised his eyebrows, and Faykes couldn't help but obviously flinch.

Xander was puzzled, but he didn't care too much about Faykes as long as he didn't interrupt his tasks.

He entered the villa and immediately, the twin maids appeared in front of him, bowing.

"Welcome home, Master. Dinner has been prepared." said the two, in sync with one another. Faykes looked around the villa and when he looked at the 2 maids, he was surprised again.

Exclaiming in shock, he pointed at the maids.

"Wait, Rosa and Esta? Why are the two of you working-" Before he could finish his words, the two maids snapped their eyes toward Faykes, containing a murderous glint.

"Master, you have brought a guest?" Rosa spoke, her voice dripping with murderous intent.

"Should we elimi- I mean, show the guest to the dining room?" Esta smiled at Faykes as she said this. When Faykes saw this, he couldn't help but stay mute.

"Huh? Yeah, whatever. I'll head first to my room; send him to the dining room for now. I'll eat dinner after." Xander, who seemed oblivious to the threat the two maids had towards Faykes, waved his hand and headed upstairs.

Faykes, wanting nothing to do with the twins, wanted to follow Xander, but was suddenly sidelocked by the twins, and slowly dragged to the dining room.

Upon reaching halfway the stairs, he then stopped, causing the trio to stop as well.

"Before I forget, tell Faykes the rules I have in this villa. Then make him sign a non-disclosure magic binding contract; use this one that I made."

Xander threw a piece of parchment towards the twins, with Esta catching the parchment. The two twins immediately bowed.

"Yes Master!" Afterwards, Rosa dragged Faykes into the dining room, while Esta carried the piece of parchment with reverence. Faykes, seeing his current situation, could only moan in anguish. Why was there such a large different in treatment??
