234 I’m not Mad, I’m just Worried 1

Yve got more curious as to why Nyelle doesn't want to send a message or at least ask him for some updates. Her friend also looks like she doesn't want to talk about it.

'Is something wrong between them?'  She can't help but voice out a question to her, hoping to get a clue.

"No problem. But didn't Edward inform you through call or text?"

"I'm actually afraid to ask." Nyelle confessed.

"Why?"

"When I heard the mission, I remembered the assault we experienced at the park before. I got scared thinking that he might be put into danger in a place far away from the Team Alpha. Moreover, there were only few people there. Weren't you afraid for Vince, Yve?" Nyelle ranted and asked a question.

Yve told how Vince kept it a secret from him and how anxious she was not only for Vince but also for her mother-in-law. Still, it wasn't enough for Yve to forget the topic about Nyelle and Edward.

"So, I answered your question on anxiety. How about you answer my question on why you're afraid to ask Edward? You were actually lucky that he told you the real reason for leaving." Yve continued to pry.

"Because I was worried with the mission, I got angry on him and he left the country on bad terms." Nyelle finally gave in.

"WHAT?! So ever since he hasn't contacted you?"

"He sent me short texts like 'Good morning', 'Don't forget to eat your meals on time'."

"So how did you respond?"

"I just answered the question."

"REALLY?! Are you serious? Are you really my friend, Nyelle? My former love advisor?!" Yve raised her voice and laugh at her friend.

"Come on, Yve! Don't laugh at me! What do you think should I do, then?"

"Cook for him the moment he arrives." Yve suggested.

"But I don't know when he will arrive." Nyelle answered which reminded Yve of the lie she said at the beginning of their conversation.

"Hmm… How about this? I can ask Vince for you then I will give you an answer as soon as I can. Okay?" Yve initiated.

"Yup! Thank you very much, Yve! You're the best!" Nyelle sounded really happy and Yve can imagine the smile plastered on her face at the moment.

After, they end the phone call. Yve waited for about 15 minutes before she sent the information to Nyelle. As Edward was about to board the plane when she called, he might arrive around noon. Lunch would be a good meal for Nyelle to prepare.

With that, Yve thought that something exciting will happen tomorrow. She fell asleep completely happy.

On the other side of the world, Maddie woke up and began eating the meal supplied by the hospital. She wanted to know the truth about the men who kidnapped her as well as the group who saved her. However her only source of information, her very own son is still asleep. The nurse informed her that he has been doing video calls late at night. With that, she didn't want to disturb her son's sleep. She can patiently wait.  Just like that.

When the doctor came for the rounds, Vince woke up and listened attentively to the doctor. As soon as the doctor left, silence filled the room.  Both mother and son knew what's going to happen next. The other one is waiting while the other is gathering the thoughts.

"Son, until when are you planning to postpone this? You know that I will never forget this experience." Maddie began as she can't take it anymore. With how her son was acting, she understood that it would be a deep secret.

"I would really like it for you to forget it.  But that would be impossible. I know that." Vince replied and pulled the seat closer to his mom's bed and sat down.

"It's just I don't know how and where to begin." Vince confessed.

"Start from the very beginning. Mom will listen and will not interrupt you." Maddie urged her son to speak.

With that, Vince started from the time he took over the CONFERENCE and who are the groups of people who saved her as well as the people behind her kidnapping. There were times that Maddie can't help but ask questions. She apologized to which Vince would just smile and answer them before proceeding with the events.

"That will be all, Mom." Vince concluded his confession.

"Son, why did you have to endure all those hardships, alone?" Maddie had cried a lot by the time her son ended.

"I wasn't alone. You were always there to remind me that I'm still a boy with a mother. Without you knowing, I can be an ordinary man and entrepreneur." Vince honestly answered which was followed by silence in the room.

"Mom, why are suddenly quiet. Are you angry?" Vince asked his mother while looking at her eyes.

"I'm not angry. Even if the group you managed did some bad things, I'm sure you didn't have other choice. It's just as your mother, you can't erase from me to be worried about you." Maddie confessed and hugged her son.

"I know that. But I hope you will continue to trust me that I will keep myself safe. After all, I have to because more than the company, I have a mother and wife to protect." Vince responded and placed his hands on his mother's back.

Maddie smiled at the gesture and suddenly remembered, 'wife'.

"Does Yve knew about this?"

"She just founded it out."

"And her reaction? Did she accept it?"

"Yes. I'm indeed lucky to have an understanding mother and wife."

"You should be thankful! So remember to stay safe, okay?"

"Yes, Madam Maddie!" Vince saluted and laughed it out along with his mother.

"Son, when are we going to go home? I know it's tiring for you to conduct the meetings here via video conference due to the time difference." Maddie can't help but worry as she finally realized the dark circles on her son's eyes.

"Once your tests are all cleared. You will need to do three tests tomorrow. About three more days, I think." Vince answered.

"Then about Stones and Yve…"

"Mom, I have another team helping Yve and making sure she's safe. As for Stones, I already sent Edward back. He should be arriving any time soon. Don't worry about anything else. Just focus on getting well, okay?"

Maddie nodded in agreement. Vince can't understand what he feels. He is relieved that both Yve and Maddie knew the truth but at the same time, he needs to protect them both.
