Chapter 31 – We Belong In Different Worlds (2)

Yu Duo had never witnessed anything so gruesome, nor had she ever saw Ah Qi liked that before, so she let out a loud scream subconsciously.

“Who was it?” Ah Qi’s knife stopped in mid-air, and he looked fiercely at Yu Duo’s direction.

The vicious look change to a slightly panicked one after he saw Yu Duo. He quickly tried to hide the knife behind his back. He wasn’t sure what to do.

“Sister-in-law?”

Yu Duo’s chest was still pounding. She looked at him and at the battered man on the ground. For a while there, she wasn’t able to find any words.

Ah Qi gave the men next to him a look. Catching the meaning of his look, his men dragged the other man away kicking and screaming.

As they walked past Yu Duo, she took a step back with the lilies clutched against her chest. She had a look of horror as though she was frightened.

Ah Qi walked over to Yu Duo as thought he had done something wrong. He had been investigating the explosion of the yacht lately and was finally able to get some leads today. He didn’t mean for Yu Duo to witness the scene.

Sister-in-law must have been horrified.

“Sister-in-law, what are you doing here?”

Looking at Ah Qi, Yu Duo subconsciously swallowed.

Ah Qi had always looked like an honest man, an innocent student, even. She hadn’t expected him to be so vicious when it came to taking care of business, no wonder Fu Sinian had kept him as his right-hand man.

If this was his right-hand man, then one could only imagine what Fu Sinian was like.

Luckily, Fu Sinian died early; otherwise, she wasn’t sure how she was going to spend the rest of her life with him.

“I… I came to visit your big brother.” As she was saying that, the alarmed look in her eyes thickened. Quietly, she was keeping her distance from Ah Qi.

Ah Qi had always been fiercely loyal to Fu Sinian; after all, he was picked from the dump and nurtured by Fu Sinian. Ah Qi owed everything to Fu Sinian. If Ah Qi found out about her behavior during these last few weeks, she was worried that they would be converting Fu Sinian’s grave at Panlong Cemetery into a couple’s grave.

Eh… she didn’t even want to think about that.

Naturally, Ah Qi noticed the distance that Yu Duo was keeping between herself and him. Distressed, he quite regretted his behavior and took a step sideways to let her pass.

Yu Duo took a deep breath, placed the lilies in front of Fu Sinian’s tombstone, and told herself to remain calm and not to panic.

“Sister-in-law, I will let you talk to Big Brother here. I am going to take off. I still have some matters to attend to.”

Yu Duo grunted a response and did not look up.

Ah Qi’s tightened up and relaxed, then tightened up again. Finally, he gritted his teeth while looking at her slender back and walked away quickly.

Yu Duo finally felt relieved after Ah Qi had taken off.

She had always known that Ah Qi wasn’t as simple of a person as he portrayed himself to be, but before she actually witnessed what she did, she never thought much about it. Now that she had seen his true colors, how would she ever be able to talk to him like normal again?

“…. Look, such a nice kid and what you have done to him!” said Yu Duo as she looked at Fu Sinian’s portrait on his tombstone and sighed. “Never mind, we didn’t come for that today. I don’t even know whether you have gone to reincarnate, and where will you be in your next life….”

“That being said, now that you are already dead, this life is over for you. You should start your new life afresh and let me be. I understand that men have needs, but now that you are dead, we belong to different worlds. We are not right for each other anymore, and you should go ahead and reincarnate.”

“You have no parents, so I don’t need to take care of them for you. Look, I have taken care of you for three years, I should have some credits for that. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a portion of your inheritance? As for the rest…. I will burn incense and pray to Buddha and do lots of good deeds to build up karma points for you. You can move on with a clear conscience.”

A slight breeze came and the thick cypress moved in the breeze.
