Chapter 23 – They couldn’t have her inheritance, and she couldn’t have them (2)

“I heard that you have completed a double majored degree overseas before you came back. What are your plans now?”

“Mm,” said Yu Yang softly, “My dad’s health wasn’t the best, so he wanted me to get familiar with the family business and get ready to take it over.”

Yu Duo nodded.

Yu Yang was from quite a prominent family, about the same as Fu Sinian three years go.

But, in the past three years, Fu SInian had way exceeded them and then some.

“I’ve learned of what happened after I got back. You should take care of yourself.”

Yu Yang looked at Yu Duo with her head tilted and looking down, seemingly somewhat disinterested and a little distracted. She looked even more beautiful under the tender light of the moon. The girl, who he was going to marry, was all grown up, “Was he… Fu Sinian, nice to you all these years?”

Yu Duo lowered her head and smiled. Her smile looked unspeakably bitter in Yu Yang’s eyes.

When Yu Yang first went overseas, Yu Duo and Fu Sinian had just wedded. He always asked around for any news about her. He knew that it was impossible for someone like Fu Sinian to make her happy.

Yet, he refused to believe the news that he heard.

He had always firmly believed that the only reason Yu Duo broke up with him and married Fu Sinian was for her family. She would not be happy being forced to marry a man who she didn’t love and didn’t love her.

And yet, all he has ever heard was how in love the two of them were.

“He was very nice to me.”

Yu Yang frowned, “Very nice?”

He didn’t believe her.

“Fu Sinian is already gone. Would you still keep the truth from me?”

Yu Duo remained silent. She was looking at Yu Yang’s hands, they were slender and bony, she quite liked the way they look.

He interpreted her silent as an affirmation; her wordless affirmation that she had not been happy all these years.

If only he could be stronger back then and took her away from her wedding, Yu Duo wouldn’t had to put up with the hellish past three years.

It was all his fault.

He was too weak back then.

“Alright, we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. Do you still remember? Back in the days we always chatted like this at night. Every time you’d doze off in the middle.”

Yu Duo wouldn’t remember any of those, so she merely muttered a, “Yes, I remember.”

“I always carried you home back then. And every time you’d wake up right when we were about to reach your house. You’ve always enjoyed faking to be asleep.” Yu Yang was deep in his memories, “Back then, you said you wanted to have your wedding on a beach, and we even got into a fight about our honeymoon location…”

Yu Duo listened to him talk about the past and slowly became silent.

Yu Yang has a nice voice, low and magnetic. As he was talking, Yu Duo’s ears began to burn up. It was a pleasure just listening to him talk.

Watching the two of them, Fu Sinian was enraged. Fire was about to come out of his eyes.

If he was still alive, he should be the one standing there today.

They are dating in front of him. What’s next? Eloping?

Wait, that’s not right. He was already dead. Yu Duo didn’t need to elope, she could just remarry. Nothing was wrong with that.

He honestly did not know that they had such a romantic past. Did that mean he was the third person who took her away from him?

Okay, so what if he was the third person?

“Yu Duo, I am telling you, you are my, Fu Sinian’s, wife. Even if I am dead, you better keep it to yourself!”

At least till I am completely dead!

Stop showing up in front of me every few days. It makes me unhappy!

A sinister wind blew passed them, and Yu Duo shivered. When Yu Yang saw that, he was about to take off his own jacket and put it on her. Yu Duo declined it right away.

Are you kidding me?

Middle of the night, a man and a woman alone in the garden and she went back with her ex-boyfriend’s jacket on her? Even if there were nothing going on with them that wouldn’t look good.
