Chapter 97: Just In Time

The bodyguard was actually greatly relieved when he found Amos in a scuffle with two girls. When he had first realized that the boy was missing from where he was supposed to be, his first thought had been that there was some major plot to either kidnap or outright kill him.

If the ones responsible for carrying out such an incident were 'pros', then the bodyguard knew that it might already be too late by the time he managed to find the boy.

He had already been prepared to make the call to his boss if he didn't immediately find Amos within the building.

But in this situation, clearly, his own young master was just seeking trouble, and there was no actual 'incident' to worry about at all.

If something had actually gone wrong, not to mention his job, perhaps even his neck would have been on the line. So it was understandable why the bodyguard felt great joy when he saw the hero 'just' getting beaten up by Jenna and Lara.

Nonetheless, he couldn't show that on his face, and it was still his job to get the boy out of here without any further harm.

As for the matter of dealing with the girls, well, his boss and Amos could figure that out on their own.

Unfortunately, even in the presence of a towering, burly man in front of them, the girls not only didn't immediately cower, they even seemed to have become even more obstinate, moving in front of the previously scuffling trio defensively.

The man could only groan in his heart. Were little kids these days so blind? "What are you doing?! Let him go!"

The hero also finally seemed to realize that his 'backup' had arrived, and laughed out loud. "You're all done for, you bitches! Hey you, idiot, get over here quickly!"

Lara and Jenna had already stopped their previous actions, and were just restraining the boy as they watched the burly man with apprehension clear in their eyes. Going by his looks, even ten of them might not be able to cause him any trouble!

Of course, even as the man had issued the threat, he was already moving towards the hero with large strides. He didn't care about what the boy said at all. His job was just to make sure that the boy remained in one piece.

Next time, he wasn't even going to listen to his 'instructions'. After all, it was that courtesy that had caused today's 'situation'. What if things actually got serious next time?

The burly man thought he could easily push the girl in front of him aside, however, Dixie's strength made him blank out for a moment. Granted, he didn't use much strength in his push, but for a little girl to be able to clutch his wrist and stop him was still a little unbelievable.

Expecting any sort of 'reasonable' behavior from the hero or anyone on his side wasn't a luxury Emilia could afford, which was why she had moved in to intercept the man with Dixie the moment he came in. 'He clearly doesn't see us as a threat yet, I have to take him out before he can realize it!'

As long as the man was careless enough to give her an opportunity, Emilia felt like she might actually stand a chance. The moment he blanked out in surprise at Dixie's strength, Emilia had already rushed in straight for his gun holster.

It wasn't something that had existed in her previous lives, and Emilia hadn't actually ever used it. After all, who would actually allow her to have one? Not to mention Danielle's parents, even her sis-con elder sister would be vehemently against it if she asked, and Emilia knew that very well.

Still, basic knowledge of such a commonly available lethal weapon in this world was a must, and Emilia had studied it the best she could. As for whether she would be able to 'implement' theory into practice perfectly… wasn't this a great moment to find out?

Unfortunately, the man responded extremely quickly, and managed to grasp her wrist before she could withdraw the weapon.

But the situation had already turned somewhat against him, with one of his hands in Dixie's iron grip, while the other couldn't let go of Emilia's wrist. Who knows what the little girl was planning to do with his firearm?

At this point, the man could either break Emilia's wrist and snatch the weapon over, or kick Dixie away first before subduing the girl holding his gun.

Amos screamed in frustration when he saw that his bodyguard had actually been stopped by that villainess and her lackey. "Incompetent moron! What the hell are you doing?!"

Of course, the bodyguard was well aware of the identity of this particular little girl, but as long as he didn't disable or kill her, it shouldn't matter too much. The blame fell on the 'master', after all, not him. With the hero's shout, the man had already made up his mind.

Emilia's plan was already half accomplished. Without the gun, the threat of the bodyguard was greatly reduced, and going two versus one against both Dixie and herself, Emilia thought they might just be able to hold out long enough for some help to arrive.

Just as the man was about to make his move, however, another 'intruder' entered the fray in the form of a uniformed police lady.

Justine didn't know what she expected to see when she came in. But she did know what she didn't expect, even in her wildest dreams.

What was Emilia White, that big boss rich missy, even doing in a place like this? And why was she trying to snatch a gun from that man?

Just imagining the scene where she entered a few moments later… whether it was Emilia who managed to shoot someone, or worse, got shot herself, it was enough to send chills down Justine's spine.

What would the headlines be tomorrow, if that happened?
