VGB 18: The game is too easy. (4)

After clearing the fourth stage of the tutorial, I headed through the passage leading to the final stage.

After passing through the damp, dark pathway, I reached a vast cavern lit by torches.

The setting of this stage was a cave located outside Jerusalem.

If you passed through the huge stone wall at the end of the cavern, you would reach the exit.

That signified the end of the tutorial.

“The last one has arrived as well.”

As soon as I entered the cavern, a man wearing a hood appeared, speaking grimly.

The man’s words echoed against the walls of the cave.

I gripped the dagger in my hand loosely and glanced around.

Nine men slinked out from where they had been stealthily cloaked by the shadows.

“Only one shadow can leave this place to carry out our glorious crusade.”

[Stage 5: Please prepare for the final trial.]

The atmosphere here is really no laughing matter.

ohhhhhh

A lot of people have to fold at this part of AOA.

Just as the viewers said in the chat, the mood inside the cavern was incredible.

Despite the fact that this was a game, the atmosphere really heightened the player’s tension.

Not even the slightest sound of breathing could be heard in the cave.

The last stage of the tutorial would only end once every assassin amongst the nine were terminated.

A battle royale would progress in tight quarters.

When it came to experiencing actual content, there was nothing that could compare to a battle royale.

As a game where assassination was the central component of content, combat skills and situational judgement were both essential.

In my opinion, this was the perfect way to finish off the tutorial.

“Chansik-ah, because you’re trying to complete the No Deaths Clear Mission, can I give you some tips in advance? This part is really hard. Even some of the best players couldn’t clear it in Nightmare mode.”

My observer, Dongsoo hyung, said something for the first time in a while.

You must be bored huh?

I’ll just nod for the time being.

Dongsoo hyung’s role using the instructor concept had been  fairly insignificant so far, so I thought it would be a good idea to give him a chance.

When I nodded, Dongsoo hyung, who had been enduring, immediately opened his mouth.

“There’s a hiding place over there on the stone wall in the right corner. If you hide out there until you’re one of  the last two…… What are you doing now?”

I’d heard that when people get old, they seek stability.

The Dongsoo hyung I knew wasn’t like this.

He was someone who always uncompromisingly looked for challenges. Time was definitely a scary thing.

I, at least, refused to be like that!

“…….Chansik-ah?”

“Hyung, we play games to have fun, but what’s the fun in hiding?”

“You crazy dude! That’s how this is supposed to be beaten!”

“Ayy, you’re not supposed to play games like this? Every time I try to beat something, I just go for it.”

Actually, the tutorial video I had watched had also said to hide in the space between the walls and wait.

Had he said that the only way to clear it was to fight once you were one of the last two people remaining?

But to be honest, that wasn’t fun.

That wasn’t the way I did things.

lolololol that’s true

i’m playing games for fun~

Why would you bring him in as a guest when he’s such a stuck up prick? Even if he’s a good player, there’s no way he can beat nine people by himself. fucking stupid bastard lolol

If he were my dongsaeng, I’d turn off the capsule and beat him up.

the NEETS1 are getting too immersed again haha for god’s sake just watch the broadcast.

Who was the last one to do this? Wasn’t there a famous foreign streamer who tried to do it this way in Silence mode and got slaughtered? In Nightmare, you’ll probably die in a second.

yaya there’s also a tutorial that says you have to hide. It’s the devs official one.

The public sentiment was pretty chaotic.

To them, Dongsoo hyung’s coaching was very reasonable.

It probably seemed like I was a noob being reckless on my first game.

It must have felt like they were eating a lot of sweet potatoes.

However, I looked at Dongsoo hyung and smiled.

“Hyung.”

“…….Why are you like this.”

“I prepared for this really well too. Trust me just this once.”

“It’s a waste of your mission!”

I was grateful for his attentiveness in taking care of me, but I was confident.

I had already done enough analysis though watching playthroughs.

Besides, if it was like this, I thought I had prepared enough to give it a try.

What? What if I failed?

The mission limit was three tries, so I could just start over.

Dongsoo hyung exhaled heavily at my words and waved his hand.

“Do it your way.”

You’re doing this just because you prepared for it.

lololol not everyone goes to seoul national university just because they prepared for the college entrance exam

So where’s your university?

why are you bringing that up here fckng idiot

The viewers who had been stuffed up with sweet potatoes2 were expressing their unhappiness in the chat room.

The people who were going crazy over the plays I had showed them not too long ago were all harmoniously cursing me out.

These guy’s enthusiasm really cooled down quickly3.

However, I didn’t really care all that much.

If I really was following through with this, I had to show them a twist at this point.

It wasn’t too much of a burden because I had experienced it often in <Gaia Online>.

I tightened my grip around the dagger in my hand and the corners of my mouth lifted.

As soon as I finished readying myself, a message appeared in my mind.

[The final test is beginning in earnest!]

[Be the last one standing.]

Let’s show them the power of preparation.

The word used here is 트수 see here, a slang used in Korea to refer to NEETs on twitch specifically, where NEET refers to a person Not in Education, Employment, or Training Back

this is a KR saying where it means the content makes you feel stuffy Back

냄비근성 refers to a crowd getting super riled up then cooling down just as quickly Back
