30 Being called Big Brother

Marcel didn't have to wait long before he heard the belled that signified the end of classes ring and all the thoughts he was having about Sherry and the complexities of the entertainment industry were pretty much thrown out of his head.

Soon a sea of children were all rushing out of the school and Marcel was focussed on the numerous short figures that were rushing out before he spotted Liam. He waved at him and when Liam saw him, his face visibly brightened as he ran towards him.

Marcel lowered his body and caught his small figure before standing up and turning to walk away from the premises.

"How was school?" Marcel asked with a smile. The boy was hugging his neck so tightly he thought that if he tightened his hold just a bit then he would have had a hard time breathing.

"It was fine" Liam answered his head buried in his neck.

"Could you loosen your hold a bit little guy?" Marcel asked with laughter in his voice. Liam finally realised that he was holding on to Marcel too tightly so he let him go completely losing his balance in the process.

"Careful", Marcel said and supported his back. Liam, on the other hand, was embarrassed and had turned his face away so Marcel wouldn't be able to see how red it had become. Marcel knew why he was avoiding his gaze and he chuckled in amusement.

"Do you want me to put you down?" he asked and Liam immediately nodded. He was still not completely used to the new Marcel who was so affectionate.

He did not hate it, but he was adjusting himself to it and he ended up acting immature and spoiled because of it. Especially since he did not reprimand him anymore and was actively spoiling him.

Marcel waited for Liam's response while wondering what he was thinking about so seriously. Since he did not receive a response after a few seconds, he decided to continue carrying him.

He was not heavy at all. In fact, he was too light, he would have to adjust his diet on the days that he would be coming to his place.

The two of them went back to the orphanage and Marcel waited for Liam to change his clothes before they left the orphanage once more. Marcel didn't carry him again and the two of them slowly made their way to the bus stop with Marcel holding his little hand.

He was thinking about whether he should take Liam with him tomorrow when he moves to his new place or if he should wait till the following week before his thoughts were interrupted by Liam.

"Big brother, where are we going?" Liam asked with his big brown eyes blinking innocently at Marcel.

"We're going for lunch first then I'll take you to a barber" Marcel answered. He was really tempted to reach down and pinch his cheeks until a large black van stopped beside them and honked at them.

Marcel furrowed his eyebrows in annoyance and was about to walk away when the window slightly slid open and he saw a redhead inside. He restrained his urge to groan out loud and put on an obviously fake smile on his face.

Unfortunately, Sherry was not that good at reading moods so she greeted loudly making the other people on the street look in their direction curiously.

"Can't you be more aware of your surroundings?" A cold voice was heard from inside.

"Big brother Marcel, let's go out for lunch, it'll be my treat," Sherry said with a smile.

Marcel was completely dumbfounded. Why was she calling him big brother in public? He really wanted the earth to open up and swallow him.

"No need, I have plans" Marcel answered.

"Didn't you say we're going for lunch?" Liam asked tactlessly.

"Hurry let's go. The fans will catch up to the van soon" Sherry said and the door slid open.

If Marcel continued declining, he knew that Sherry would probably pester him until he accepted. So he sighed and carried Liam before entering the van.

Once he was inside, he was met with four pairs of eyes, only one of the pairs did not look welcoming.

That was until Liam turned his head to curiously look at the people inside and all of the girls' eyes lit up. Marcel could understand them, he had the same reaction when he saw the kid for the first time.

"Come sit here," Sheena who was in the backseat said as she tapped the empty seat next to her.

Marcel went to sit there obediently, mostly because it was the seat furthest from Elise, not because he was familiar with Sheena.

"Who is this little guy?" Sherry asked curiously her hazel eyes almost completely golden.

"Introduce yourself" Marcel coaxed Liam who was clenching onto the edge of his t-shirt. Liam bit his lips nervously and all the girls aawed making Marcel roll his eyes.

<Was this all it took to charm women these days?> he thought to himself.

[You aren't better than they are either] Avian's reply unexpectedly came through.

<I didn't ask for a response, okay?> Marcel asked.

"I'm Liam Melar," Liam said in a quiet voice but was still heard since the girls were holding their breaths to hear his response.

"He's so cute!" Elise said in a high pitched voice and everyone turned to look at her in surprise. This was the first time they had all heard her use such a tone to speak.

It was also the first time Liam heard someone blatantly say that he was cute. The compliments he always received were always accompanied by pity.

He would hear people say he was such a good looking boy but it was unfortunate he had no parents or the teachers say that he was very smart but it was a pity he was an orphan.

So hearing someone compliment him without saying something that would make him feel miserable was new to him.

He was so moved that he had started blinking back his tears which turned out to be quite unsuccessful so he buried his head in Marcel's side to hide them.

Marcel didn't know something was wrong and thought that Liam was just embarrassed until he felt his t-shirt get wet.
