Chapter 1504 Another Person’s Life

Name:The Substitute Bride Author:Mi Lu
Sheryl hesitated for a moment. Just as she guessed before, Lancy had a troubled past and it concerned another person.

She took a deep breath to calm down and told herself to not get too excited because she was so close to finding out the truth. If she could figure out Lancy and her troubled past, it might just help her.

Sheryl finally made up her mind. "You're so brave for willing to give up your own life for someone else's. I admire you so much, but isn't there a way to help the both of you?"

Lancy burst into laughter. "It's always easier said than done. You have no idea what I've done for him. I spent my entire life trying to save him, but they told me that there was no hope anymore. He's not going to survive. Can you imagine how I felt? How could they decide on a human life just like that? I can't take it. I just can't..."

She repeated it in a voice that only she herself could hear, and the expression on her face could make anyone believe that she was going to die. But the next second, her eyes came to life again and she fixed her eyes at Sheryl, saying bitterly, "It's all your fault. You and your kind are responsible for all of these. You got so much money in your pocket, but you refused to just take a little of that to help him when he was still getting treated and it wasn't too late yet. If you'd only helped him, he wouldn't have wasted time and he probably would've survived!"

Sheryl held her breath, afraid to trigger her.

Sheryl had figured that the man Lancy was talking about was probably just a few breaths away from dying and Lancy had been the one to take the burden throughout the man's illness. But she just couldn't agree with the idea that she would murder another person just so she could save her partner.

"I don't think he's going to be very happy if he finds out that you want to kill an innocent woman just to save his life." Sheryl chose her words very carefully.

Lancy's pupils dilated, when she spoke. She raised her voice and said, "Yes, he won't. He's such a nice person, the nicest I've ever known. You won't understand how much he means to me, and how much we love each other. I can't live without him. Oh, I can't!"

By then, Sheryl had already learned the whole story. Lancy's boyfriend was sick, but they couldn't afford the treatment, and he was dying now. Someone asked her to set Sheryl up in exchange for her boyfriend's treatment. Since she didn't succeed, her boyfriend wouldn't get the treatment. She was now choosing to die rather than have to live without her boyfriend.

Sheryl then realized how much Lancy hated her an

oxygen inhaler on his face. However, just seconds after, it looked like he'd lost his consciousness.

"No, Jarvis! Wake up! Don't scare me like that!" Lancy shouted. Her eyes were bloodshot as if they were going to pop out any minute. She screamed and screamed, her grip on Sheryl tightening.

"Stop trying to trick me! I'm not buying it! Fuck off! Jarvis is safe and sound in the hospital. He's feeling better!" she said, her voice panicked. After a few moments, she started laughing. Her laugh was maniacal as if she found everything to be so crazy and unbelievable it was hilarious.

"You saw it with your own two eyes, Lancy. You know what to do. You know him better than any of us do," Sheryl said calmly. Sheryl feigned calmness because her life was on the line. She knew she had to be careful.

"No, no… Jarvis would never say that. He doesn't know what he's saying. He doesn't know the full story. He knows I'm trying to save his life. He wouldn't ever say something like that to me. He just won't..." Lancy murmured. She paused before speaking again, and this time she raised her voice. "Save it, Ms. Xia! He won't get the treatment he deserves as long as you're alive. This is all your fault! You should be dying! Not him! You need to die!"

Sheryl was unable to move. This woman was crazy. She'd lost her mind. Sheryl needed to come up with an idea before this insane woman could do anything.

Lancy guffawed as she dragged Sheryl with her. It seemed as if she had run out of patience and she had decided to just do what she had planned all along.

"Jarvis is dead!" a man shouted from behind them. The voice sounded familiar to Sheryl.

Lancy paused and automatically turned to where the voice had come from.
