Chapter 70 - Departure

“Please wait here, I’ll be right back!”

Fang Tianlu emphasized this to Zhao Zhan twice before running off with his followers.

Taking advantage of this, Zhao Zhan made a turn to West Street to buy a bunch of things before returning to his room.

“Jiaojiao, I bought candy, hawthorn cakes, and sour plums. If you feel uncomfortable later, you can have some.

“If you’re still carsick, you can lie down and rest. Otherwise, we’ll stop the carriage and wait till you get better.”

Hearing him babble on and on, Yue Jiaojiao couldn’t take it anymore and walked over to cover his mouth. “That’s enough, Zhao Zhan. You talk too much.”

The palm of his lover was smooth and tender, and it felt like an egg custard when it touched his lips.

Zhao Zhan subconsciously opened his mouth.

“Zhao Zhan!”

Yue Jiaojiao exclaimed in surprise on purpose. Then, she stood on her tiptoes and pinched his mouth with both hands. “Let’s see if you’re still going to move.”

Zhao Zhan tried his best to suppress the smile on his lips. When she was about to leap over, he subconsciously wrapped his arms around her.

Yue Jiaojiao lost her balance and fell forward.

“Jiaojiao,” Zhao Zhan took two steps back with her in his arms. His back was against the wall, but his arms were firmly holding her.

“Oh.”

The tip of Yue Jiaojiao’s nose smacked against his hard chest, and she felt a tingling sensation. Suddenly, her tears flowed like a stream as she cried out, “It hurts.”

“I was wrong. I didn’t catch you. I’m sorry.” Zhao Zhan pulled her away and lowered his head to look at her nose.

The tip of her nose was red. She was really too delicate.

Zhao Zhan wanted to touch her, but he was afraid of making her feel more pain. he could only clumsily pat her back. “Does it still hurt?”

The pain only lasted for a moment.

Yue Jiaojiao had already recovered by now. However, when she saw Zhao Zhan’s nervous expression, she lifted her small face, revealing her beautiful face. “Blow on it.”

Zhao Zhan clumsily moved closer. His lips moved, but he didn’t know what to do.

While he was still in a daze, Yue Jiaojiao took the opportunity to jump up. Her face touched his lips for a moment before quickly separating. Then, she smiled brightly, and the room bloomed with flowers.

“Zhao Zhan, you’re sneaky. You’re taking advantage of me.”

Her eyes were curved in a sly smile, like a little fox playing hide-and-seek with herself in the forest.

Zhao Zhan covered his lips in a daze, feeling a little light-headed. His eyes were fixed on Yue Jiaojiao’s lips, and his mind was filled with wild thoughts.

“Let’s go. If we don’t set off now, it’ll be dark when we get back to the village.”

Hearing her reminder, Zhao Zhan subconsciously responded, “I’ll go and pack up now.”

The two of them had just arrived at the inn’s entrance when Fang Tianlu — who was sitting in a carriage — arrived. “I’m here! The carriage at the back is for you.”

His eyes only hurriedly swept over Yue Jiaojiao’s body for a moment.

Zhao Zhan’s wife was indeed beautiful. However, he only had a quick glimpse. Compared to beauty, food was more important.

He had already given Zhao Zhan’s wife a good look. If it were any other lady on the streets, he wouldn’t even spare them a glance.

“Jiaojiao, let’s go. We’ll go to the carriage at the back.”

Zhao Zhan held Yue Jiaojiao’s hand while his other hand carried a bunch of bags of various sizes. He carefully protected her as he boarded the carriage.

The carriage was covered with a thick cushion, and there was a row of hidden compartments on the inner wall of the carriage. Zhao Zhan did not touch it. He only put his things in the corner and then seated himself comfortably.
