Chapter 232: The Heavenly Maze of Doom (1)

It took Ji Yuan and his party a full three weeks before they could find the entrance of the second trial on this level.

Maybe it was because they were just plain unlucky to have missed the trials as they had no way of exploring all the paths without slowing down their progress.

Ji Yuan smiled weakly to the five maidens when he spotted the many cultivators that could be seen between two imposing cliffs. "With so many cultivators around, this must be the trial entrance. Told you I can't be wrong."

Ling Feiyue rolled her eyes. "You have been wrong for the past three weeks. Finally you're right."

Ji Yuan laughed. "Finding the trial entrance is also part of the trial. Hopefully this trial will be an easy one."

Feng Minyue said quietly. "There are no easy trials inside the Warrior Empyrean Labyrinth."

Shui Xisi began to look with great suspicion at Ji Yuan. "He seems to be a bad scout ever since he had started to bring another scout along with him."

Ji Yuan laughed as Little Princess, Feiyue and Qianfeng began to look sheepish and they were even flushing a little…

Indeed for the past three weeks, Ji Yuan had insisted on bringing one of them to scout with him. Although they had protested at the very start but they were soon looking to scout with Ji Yuan.

Each scouting trip typically lasted for three days.

And it was a passionate three days of lovemaking rather than any real scouting trip.

Ji Yuan explained weakly. "I've thought that having two brains are better than one but alas!"

Shui Xisi hummed softly. "Let me follow you the next time then."

Feiyue quickly said with a weak smile. "Better not. Ji Yuan, he is always lost and getting distracted. You will end up quarreling with him or having a bad experience."

"That is right!" Little Princess added panicky.

"Ji Yuan, he has no sense of direction at all!" Qianfeng giggled as she added too as well.

Ji Yuan: …

I will have no sense of direction?!

But there was nothing he could say because he knew that these three maidens were only trying to cover him.

Shui Xisi hummed coldly as she marched ahead. She was not so dumb as to believe them completely. It was obvious to her that they were not actually doing any scouting.

She was not going to expose them.

Rather, she was rather upset that she did not have any scouting chance to be with Ji Yuan…

So she said to Feng Minyue as she pulled her away, "Sister. Ji Yuan is a badass. Don't talk too much to him!"

Feng Minyue muttered. "This…"

Ji Yuan: …

Ji Yuan displayed an awkward laugh as he followed Sisi to the trial entrance.

There were dozens of cultivators in this place and most had a weary look.

Ji Yuan looked around and did not see any cultivators from his celestial fraternity so he asked loudly. "Greeting fellow cultivators. What is this trial all about?"

One rude cultivator hummed coldly. "Why don't you touch the black stele and you will know."

A more friendly cultivator answered weakly. "This is an underground labyrinth trial. In order to overcome this trial, you have to find the secret portal inside the labyrinth."

Another cultivator answered. "This trial isn't easy to complete. I have been wandering aimlessly inside the labyrinth for several weeks. It took me nearly a week to get out of this labyrinth alive."

Ji Yuan laughed as he said. "What is so difficult about a labyrinth?"

He knew that there was a trick in solving a maze. Just follow the maze to the extreme right or left by touching along the wall and the maze would be solved.

Another cultivator answered weakly. "That is what I've though so as well. But I am so wrong. This labyrinth sketches for tens of miles underground."

All the maidens were looking curiously at one another and they were all thinking; what can be so difficult about a labyrinth?

So they curiously followed Ji Yuan as they touched the black stele that was at the entrance of the labyrinth together.

The message on the black stele was as followed;

Find the blue portal at the end of the labyrinth. This labyrinth is divided into three sections. The normal labyrinth, the nightmare labyrinth and the uber labyrinth. The normal labyrinth requires no keys. The entrance of the nightmare labyrinth will require a silver key and the entrance of the uber labyrinth will require a gold key.

Ji Yuan blinked his eyes. He had never encountered a trial like this before.

All the other five maidens were also blinking their eyes behind their curtain veils.

Although the dozens of cultivators could not see the looks that were on the five maidens' faces but they were all laughing.

"If it is just a simple maze, I would have cleared it a long time ago…"

"Luckily there is a portal to exit back to the entrance at every section of the labyrinth or else I would have died inside…"

"This isn't just a normal maze, you have to find the silver and the golden keys as well…"

"There are also monsters inside…"

Ji Yuan eagerly picked up all the information as he listened in to their sarcasm. This would be useful to him later on.

Slowly he turned to look at the five maidens. "So what do you think?"

Ling Feiyue laughed softly. "I say, we go and take this trial."

Bai Qianfeng nodded. "We have no other choice now…"

"Do we even have a choice?" Shui Xisi muttered weakly. "We only have one month to complete each level. And nearly a month has already passed for this level already."

Ji Yuan laughed weakly. "We have some extra time from the first level…"

"The higher up levels will require more time to complete for sure." Shui Xisi interrupted. "Didn't you hear that some of these cultivators are already here for weeks?"

Ji Yuan smiled weakly. "Right…"

Little Princess chuckled softly as she whispered to Shui Xisi, "Good sister, let's go in now. Don't be upset with him, alright? How about this. We will let you have the next scouting mission with Ji Yuan."

Ling Feiyue giggled. "Right, right!"

Shui Xisi frowned before she could not resist a smile. "I don't mind going on a scouting mission to help Ji Yuan. After all he has no sense of direction and I will surely be of help."

Ji Yuan rubbed his chin as he smiled weakly; right…
