177 Exchanging Thoughts

Jing Yan had been waiting at the entrance of the hotel where the party would be held, but he did not go in rashly.

The party was a gathering for women, and his presence would be the subject of gossip. However, when he saw He Miao coming in and out without noticing him, he could no longer sit still.

He walked closer to He Miao, the tight lines on his face making him look a little cold, but the words he said were unusually warm. “I’m here to take you home.”

The surrounding ladies gasped in shock as they looked back and forth between He Miao and Jing Yan. “Didn’t the two of you break off the engagement a long time ago?”

Jing Yan hated it the most when others mentioned this. He pursed his lips and said indifferently, “Yes, but I regret it now.”

All of a sudden, envious gazes landed on He Miao. Xia Yan chuckled softly and nudged He Miao, who was still in a daze. “Do you want to go with him? Or do you want me to send you back later?”

He Miao’s face reddened as she lowered her head. She gently placed her hand on Jing Yan’s large hand, which he had raised for a long time, and bid them farewell with her eyes lowered.

“Hurry up and go. It’s so sweet. I remember that my man and I were like this in the past!” The madams teasingly watched the two of them leave. It was not until they were out of the hotel that He Miao finally pulled her hand out of his.

“How did you know I was here?” He Miao looked up at him. There was no anger in her eyes.

“I saw you getting into Xia Yan’s car at the school gate,” Jing Yan explained, feeling relieved.

“So you were already here at that time!” He Miao tilted her head and looked at him in disbelief. “You haven’t been waiting at the hotel entrance the whole time, have you?”

Jing Yan pursed his lips and did not say anything, but his expression was aggrieved. “I really want to see you.”

In fact, he did not have to wait long. He had spent most of his time in that stupid dog’s body. The moment he returned to his own body, he went in to pick up He Miao.

She frowned and said apologetically, “I’ve been too busy recently. However, I’ve prepared a gift for you. I’ve placed it in the laboratory. I’ll give it to you tomorrow.”

“Right now.” Jing Yan took her hand and pushed her into the car. His heart was filled with an inexplicable feeling, and he urgently needed a way to vent it.

“Now?” He Miao pointed at the sky outside and said in surprise, “But it’s already midnight. The teacher should have locked the door.”

“I have an idea. Yes,” he replied indifferently and drove to the school gate with a tense face.

At the entrance of the laboratory, Jing Yan took out a pin and easily unlocked the door lock. He Miao, who was standing beside him, was dumbfounded.

“You actually know how to do this?”

He Miao followed him in, surprised. She turned on the light in the lab and walked to her storage cabinet. She unlocked it and took out an exquisitely wrapped box.

“This is it.” He Miao lowered her head shyly, the tips of her ears turning a suspicious pink.

“Isn’t this the box that you used to keep the prize?” Jing Yan took it in surprise. His fingers trembled as he opened the lid. He was surprised to see a small box of spice inside that emitted a sweet fragrance.

“Since you’ve already given me your prize, I’m thinking of giving you a present in return.”

He Miao opened the box and told him how to use it.

Jing Yan hurriedly put down the box and pulled her into his arms. He buried his nose in her neck and said in a muffled voice, “I remember that spice is very valuable for perfumers.”

“Yes.” He Miao did not deny it.

“I’ve heard that people who like to make perfumes are reluctant to part with their own fragrances and keep it like a treasure.”

“No, it’s not that. Only by making the best use of everything can we better reflect the preciousness of spices.” He Miao answered sincerely.

Jing Yan let go of her slightly. Looking at her bright eyes, he felt his heart melt. “You like perfumes very much.”

“Yup.” He Miao did not understand what he meant and blinked her eyes in surprise.

Jing Yan’s eyes sparkled. “So, in your heart, I’m far more important than making perfumes?”

His voice trembled slightly when he asked this question. He Miao could hear the carefulness in his voice, and her face was completely red. She hurriedly pushed away his hand that was holding her face. “Didn’t you give me your prize for winning the championship last time?”

“Yes, because I went to get the prize for you.” Jing Yan looked at the girl in front of him with burning eyes. “And to me, you are indeed more important than everything I have.”

Fireworks exploded in He Miao’s chest. She looked up at Jing Yan’s focused gaze, and his dark eyes seemed to have a different kind of attraction that could suck her whole body in and make her unable to escape.

“Miaomiao, I like you.” Jing Yan’s hands trembled nervously as he pulled her into his arms again, but he did not dare to look at her expression.

He was afraid that she would reject his confession with a firm tone, and he did not dare to look at her suddenly cold expression. His heart was hanging in the air, and it gradually sank with the long silence between the two of them.

Just as he thought that he was destined to not get the answer and wanted to send her home first, a pair of warm hands appeared on the cold coat behind him.

He Miao tried to hug him back and said quietly, “Me too.”
