Chapter 380 - Surgery?!

"Jennifer! Jennifer wakes up my child… don't leave momma like this…"

"DON'T you dare to go into a coma! Jennifer…"

Meanwhile, Jennifer could hear all the whispers and yell at her. Her closed eyes twisted and the frown depended on her forehead.

She was shivering in the worst manner with her entire body covered with extreme sweat.

"Uh…" at last, Jennifer finally opened her eyes to see nothing else but her mother and father by her side.

What she saw was their shocked and soaked faces with the confusion spreading all over.

For the next few seconds, she saw her mother finally taking a breath in relief as if the water of freshness had been poured over her head. Her father had tears of joy but she was totally confused by their sign.

"W-water…" was all Jennifer was able to mutter as she sensed the sandpaper inside her throat.

"Y-yeah! Here." Amelia came forward when she helped her to drink the water out of the glass. "Do you need more?" In return, Jennifer shook her head.

Amelia and David helped her to sit back on the hospital bed before her father went to call the doctor.

The doctor came in the next few minutes before he checked her pulses and kept his hand on her stomach and then at her shoulders

"Do you feel any more pain in your wound, Ms. Taylor?" the doctor asked in between, to which Jennifer shook.

"N-no… just..a body ache.." Jennifer answered in her hoarse voice without lifting her eyes.

"That's perfectly fine. You went through some emotional turmoil which made you shut your mind completely. But this is a piece of good news! You woke up earlier than what we had expected!"

Jennifer knew the doctor was happy, so were her parents. But the same can't be said for herself, nor for her best friend who stood on the corner.

Lack of response made the doctor feel the awkwardness rising around him. But then, he coughed again to tell, "But since you were in the pain as well, we had to perform the surgery as soon as possible otherwise your life would have been in danger."

"What surgery are you talking about?" Jennifer could feel her hands were shaking with the dead amount of fear that was residing inside her heart.

It was hard that she felt terror taking over her head whether eyes were wide in shock.

"Tell me, which kind of su-"

"Jennifer, don't panic. It was a normal thing, you don't have to act so alerted." Amelia stepped toward her when she passed the doctor a glance before she averted her eyes in her direction, "You just woke up...try to get some relax?"

"But mother said that I underwent something! Why don't you just tell me this?" Jennifer could instantly see her mother wasn't being herself.

Or to be more specific, she was doing all the courses could to actually not let the truth come over their face.

Even her father sent the doctor out of the room very soon so that he doesn't blurt out something improper in front of her.

Jennifer was numb of all. She was eager to know what they had done with their body when she was not in the state of consciousness.

They all sat nearby her, not leaving her alone. But in the middle, Jennifer's eyes averted to see her best friend keeping herself quiet.

She never said any other word, with blank expressions.

'What is Hannah trying to so hard...and what can't be just told to me?' her intuition told her that it won't be something which will be liked by her either.

Her face started to swell up when she spared her glance at her parents. Why are her parents trying to pamper her?

Her mother had brought some homemade food for her and the soup. She sat beside her to make her drink the same and without even revoking her, Jennifer did as they asked her.

But the turmoil inside her own heart was bigger than that. "W-We are back..in our state, right?"

"Obviously. You were in the hospital for the last five days. Thankfully, you gained your consciousness, otherwise, the doctor had said that..there are chances of you going into the coma.."

"You know how scared were we?" Amelia held her heart to bring her emotions out on her face.

Jennifer's eyes narrowed when she glanced at them from the corner of her eyes.

It was hard to deny that she didn't feel anything. In the back of her mind, Jennifer knew that when she will open her eyes, they would come back to their state but this long....it was out of her expectation.

Lowering her eyelids, she asked again, "What was the doctor saying?"

"T-that..." Amelia's face turned blue when she heard Jennifer constantly bending over the same question.

Turning around, she gave a look to David, who understood the gaze of his wife.

"Jennifer, dear. Listen to us." saying this, he came on the other side of her bed when she sat on one of the stools presents. "We know that you have committed plenty of mistakes back at the state."

"We don't blame you, young minds can't oversee the future. And first of all, we all know that you were kidnapped by that kidnapper and have forcibly married you. Everyone understands that you had to go through a lot and we will never interfere in that past."

Her father's words made Jennifer clutch her blanket. Her fingers were converted into a fist where she couldn't help but feel the hatred generating in her heart.

Yet, it was not in her hand for now, except to hear them out entirely. "What do you want to say, father? Please..say it clearly."

"Since everything is done, leave the past. Think as you've never been married since that marriage isn't even valid! Soon, you will meet with Lucas' family members and you will have to give this justification to them." Hearing this, Jennifer instantly lifted her eyes to stare at her parents with her bewitching eyes.

Her mind can't even process that she just woke up, and they were in the process of making her meet with that bastard's family?

The same family because of who she was kidnapped in the first place? The same family….who has no interest to actually witness her marriage with that man!

What was she supposed to say about this?

It was making her heart crumble into pieces but she still held strong to hear ahead. "Tell grandfather Smith that you're forced to marry that man. Other things will be handled by Lucas."

Was she happy? She was disappointed that her parents are still in the pursuit of actually taking note of how to please Lucas.

It broke her heart as her lips were formed into a straight line. It was disheartening to witness when she kept herself absolutely quiet.

At last, Jennifer finally looked behind everyone to see Hannah simply standing in the other corner of the room.

She was in a deep daze, making Jennifer's eyes twist. It was making her heart feel some hollowness that had ignited inside.

"Hannah, won't you say something as well?"
