1267 Scavengers

"Die!" Bygraves' health dropped rapidly and he began to feel worried about himself.

Lu Li saw the red glow on Bygraves' axe and he knew that things were about to go downhill. Unfortunately, his actions weren't as fast as his thinking; he didn't react in time and was knocked 200 yards away.

"Don't…"

Even before Lu Li got to tell others not to tank the boss, Water Fairy was knocked away too. Bygraves charged into the long-ranged team of Ruling Sword and Drizzle Court.

At first, they were either killed in an instant or blown away, which lasted until the red light on the axe disappeared.

By the time Lu Li got back, he had already lost 20-30 people from his 200-manteam. Even a few NPC soldiers died during the process. This sudden change had him crying without tears. This was when he realized that a level 65 boss wasn't easy to take down. If it wasn't for the fact that the captain had tried his best to help them mid-way, more of them probably would have died.

With Lu Li retaking over the aggression, Bygraves had no choice but to redirect his targets.

This couldn't be helped; he was a Boss that really played by the System rules. The best he could do was to knock the players away or use Whirlwind to threaten them. Clearly, the other players weren't the main force in this battle. Lu Li could easily have people resurrect them or send more players in.

If things were to go smoothly, it was only a matter of time before Bygraves fell.

Lu Li had no choice but to resurrect those dead players. Their speed had dropped with a few dozen less players helping out.

"Boss, look! Someone's stealing equipment! They're not our people!"

When Lu Li heard this, he turned around just in time to see a Thief straighten his back as he held onto the equipment that had dropped from someone who had just died.

None of the players that followed Lu Li to take down this Boss were weak, and all their equipment was exquisite. Even if they weren't all Legendary, they were at least Dark Gold with good Attributes.

These equips were like flowers; it couldn't be helped that they attracted attention.

There were people in Dawn who focused on picking up items from dead people. Of these, there were those who picked up anything and everything, while there were others who chose more wisely. They were scavengers that appeared in all battles.

They usually had their own sources of information and would know where battles that involved professional players would occur.

Lu Li didn't know what category this scavenger belonged to, but he had clearly set his eyes on Ruling Sword. Without a second word, Lu Li instantly appeared behind him.

Backstab!

The scavenger shrieked and fell. Not only did he not have the time to loot the item, but he even dropped something himself.

Lu Li passed the item to the Thief head, Scarlet New Moon, who was in charging of clearing the area.

"A scavenger is here; that's a 5% deduction in guild points this time. If another appears, we'll keep deducting. Did you film the scene before? Go find out who it is; we'll hunt him down for half a month."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.comfor visiting.

Scarlet New Moon's expression turned sour. Why was he so unlucky?

Thieves had three jobs in this situation. Firstly, they used their mobility to help attract monsters, and secondly, they were to stay alert and stop other Thieves from stealing equipment or monsters. Lastly, they needed to help people pick up their equipment.

However, it seemed like the task was too hard for them this time.

These were all level 60 Horde soldiers, and as soon as they touched them, they were guaranteed to die. All of them had a lot of trouble doing their job, so it wasn't impossible for them to let one or two slide through.

"I'll call some more brothers over. I promise there won't be another one. I'll sort out the hunting part as well; it's probably a professional scavenger by the looks of his equipment and his methods. We'll definitely be able to get some information on him."

Scarlet New Moon was enraged, so there was no way he was going to let this guy off easily.

It was a fearful thing to have a major guild hunt a player down for half a month.

The hunt was usually performed on two ends. There was a public bounty to attract other forces to partake, as well as a bounty in the guild. The reward for this kind of bounty wouldn't have much of a limit; the profit was kept in the guild anyway.

A while ago, Water Fairy had apparently up a bounty for an internet writer called Rowing Poetry. This silly boy wrote some dirty jokes about Lu Li and Water Fairy and posted them on the internet.

After Water Fairy found out the gaming ID of the writer, she posted a 200-gold reward per kill to the public, and 3 legendary equipment as a reward in the guild. Anyone that killed Rowing Poetry could receive an equip, and he instantly became a joke.

Either way, the Thief that Lu Li killed had no clue what he was about to face.

He was still at a loss at how died so quickly. If he wasn't wrong, he had died within one hit. As a Thief himself, he also couldn't ignore the skill that Lu Li used – it was a simple Backstab.

The poor Thief revived in Southshore and kept studying the description of the skill in his own skill bar.

He couldn't possibly imagine why HP bar of three thousand was wiped away with one hit.

This has to be a bug!

The scavenger walked out of the city miserably, planning to return back to that battleground. If he was to die in an instant again, he would have the evidence to report this bug. If he could find another equip, that would be even better. He originally planned to take three items, but now he had dropped two, and only one Dark Gold was left in his bag. The Attributes was so good that they had him drooling. For the first time, he hated how he wasn't a Mage.

After he left Southshore, he wanted to summon his mount out of habit. He was too far away from the battlegrounds, so it would be a waste of time to try and Stealth his way through.

Two people came across him and looked at him weirdly.

At any other time, he would have reacted straight away as a Thief. Unfortunately for him, he was still shocked by how he got killed by Lu Li with one hit.

As such, he didn't react until the skills of the two players had landed on him.

The two players were a Paladin and a Hunter. This meant that they had crowd control, damage, and a counter to Stealth. Without Gale Steps, the scavenger couldn't run.

"So lucky! As soon as we got the news, we ran into him, and he even dropped a dark gold!" the paladin exclaimed.

"Probably from our brothers in the elite group – we'll send it back later," the Hunter said as he calmly pet his pet. He didn't think that the scavenger would drop something so good. Usually, scavengers died a lot, so they didn't bother wearing anything valuable.

He just didn't understand why the scavenger didn't place this item in the storage first.

"Such a good item! How about we sell it? Even if the players from the guild know about it, they won't do anything. After all, this is our loot," the Paladin suggested.

Perhaps to those top-tier players, only Legendary equipment was worth something. However, this Paladin and Hunter were both normal players. At best, they had two Dark Gold equips on them, and not to mention, they would be lower-tiered with average Attributes.

If they were to swap this exquisite Dark Gold item, they could receive five level 50 Dark Gold equips in return.

"That's true, but do you really want to just be a normal member forever?" the Hunter asked as he stood up from the ground and spat out the grass that he was chewing on.

"My God, no way! You want to join the elites? We're not high-leveled enough and with our equipment, what elite group can we join? Stop dreaming."

"We're lower leveled than them because we entered the game too late. Our equipment isn't as good because we can't find a good team to join, but why can't we be elites? I've already made up my mind – once I graduate high school, I'm flying over to Jiangnan City. Not only am I going to enter the elite group, but I'm also going to join the training camp," the Hunter declared, his face filled with stubbornness.

"Uhm, how do you know…"

"Isn't it obvious? Do you not see how many elite groups the other major guilds have? We only have four. I'd say that this year, we'd at least double in number. After our bosses defeat Glory Capital, they'd probably immediately start a training camp, and then I'd be the first group of students. Even just that would be enough for me to brag about…"
