Chapter 296 - Bidding(End)

Chapter 296: Bidding(End)

"Tyler Burton has bid an amount of nine hundred thousand, nine hundred and sixty- eight low soul stones, becoming the twenty-two hundred and thirty-third bidder," Lewis announced the name of the next participant.

Tyler, like other participants, stood up from his chair and took a step forward in the direction of the center stage.

Aakesh recognized the figure, as Tyler was none other than the manager of the weapon store he dealt with,

Tyler had gotten a large amount of profit due to the last deal he had made with the adventurer, so he also decided to give it a try. Even if he failed, he would only need to pay 100,000 low soul stones, and if Tyler succeeded, he would get a Diamond at the price of dirt.

Tyler greeted Lewis after stepping on the stage. Lewis only nodded in response and gestured to him to attempt while pointing at the golden key.

Tyler nodded. He then bent down and grabbed the key.

"GET UP!" He screamed as he used hundred percent of his strength to pick the key up. The next moment, his face turned pale as suddenly pain emerged in his lower back.

Tyler even failed to move the key, let alone pick it up. Instead, he got a sudden unbearable pain in the back, and soon after that, he got knocked down to the ground as his grip got released from the key.

Lewis ignored the crash of Tyler and called for another participant.

Time flew by, and several seconds passed.

"John Cena has bid an amount of nine hundred thousand, nine hundred low soul stones, becoming the twenty-two hundred and thirty-seventh bidder," Lewis announced the name of the next participant.

The guy named John Cena stood up from his chair and took a step in the direction of the stage.

He had an arrogant look on his face as he stepped upon the stage.

"Yo!" John Cena called Lewis with a casual salute. Lewis, in response, glared at John Cena.

John ignored the glare as he bent down to pick the golden key up.

"Thud!"

The next moment, the crowd and Lewis found him crashed unconscious on the ground.

The crowd didn't even see him attempting to pick up the key. It took even less than a second for John Cena to get knocked down the stage.

"David Scott has bid an amount of six hundred thousand, six hundred and sixty low soul stones, becoming the twenty-nine hundred and thirty-third bidder," Lewis announced the name of the next participant.

It has already been more than two and a half hours since the attempts for the key had begun. Unfortunately for Aakesh, and fortunately for the remaining participants, none of the citizens had been able to pick the key up and became the new Townhead.

David Scott, who was the next participant in line to attempt, stood up from his chair. He smiled as he looked at his six-month old daughter, who was curled up in her mother's embrace, before leaving.

David slightly pinched his daughter's cheeks, which in turn brought a smile on his daughter's face, and then lightly kissed his wife. After doing that, he finally took a step in the direction of the stage.

"Hello, senior," David respectfully greeted Lewis with a slight bow. Lewis only nodded in response to the greetings, giving the same reaction as he had given to other participants.

David then reached the golden key. He didn't directly attempt to pick the key up as he began remembering the last conversation he had with his wife.

***

David wasn't a citizen of Wolfden, but he had recently moved here from another town. He belonged to an affluent family and was a Level 10, but the girl he loved was only an ordinary girl, with neither any background nor talent. So, his family tried to stop him from having any kind of relationship with the girl.

David has always been a guy who made his own decisions, so he left the town with the girl, who was pregnant at that time, and escaped to Wolfden.

It had only been around eight months since he and the girl ran back here. Here, he married the girl and made her his lawfully wedded wife.

David wasn't stupid, so when he escaped his family, he had stolen a large number of soul stones from his family, and only then had he left.

At first, he had no interest in bidding for the golden key. But his wife encouraged him to do this. So, to make him and his wife happy simultaneously, David agreed to participate, but when the time of the bidding arrived, he made a low bid.

When his wife had gotten depressed and asked him the reason for the low bid, he had answered her, "If fate wills it, I will still become the new Townhead. If it doesn't, I will not become one despite bidding a large amount."

***

David couldn't help but smile, remembering the conversation about fate. Someone like him, who had escaped his family due to their rules, didn't believe in things like fate and destiny.

But now, despite bidding a low amount and being on the lower end of the number of the participants, he had still got an attempt.

"Was my running with Talia a fate too?" David murmured as he subconsciously grabbed the key.

Only after feeling something in his hands did he come around. The next moment, he couldn't help but get surprised, seeing his hands on the key.

"There is no such thing as fate," David murmured as he casually attempted to pick the golden key up.

The next moment, shocked gasps rang in the area as the golden key that hadn't even moved for the last two hours had finally gotten picked up.

It wasn't only the crowd and Lewis that had gotten shocked; David himself had the same reaction when he saw that he had picked the golden key up, despite only giving a casual try at first.

"You...you picked it up," Lewis commented, seeing the golden key in David's hand. His voice trembled as seeing someone else succeeding when he had failed felt uncomfortable to him.

David didn't have the mood to answer Lewis. All of his focus was currently on the key.. He didn't even look at his wife, who was shouting in joy.
