Chapter 289 - Auction

Chapter 289: Auction

Time flew by. After an unknown amount of time passed, Lily appeared in the selection area.

Seeing Aakesh waiting for her already, she jumped up on his head.

Aakesh, who had a cold expression just a moment earlier, couldn't help but smile, seeing Lily. All the anger he had been feeling due to the sudden humiliating death disappeared after Lily began sharing her today's experiences in the training with Aakesh.

"You should have seen her face when I told her story to all the ancestors," Lily told Aakesh with a hearty laugh. Still remembering the look on the second Feline's face gave a lot of satisfaction to Lily's heart.

Aakesh could only smile hearing Lily as she told Aakesh her experiences. Finally, after several seconds, Lily concluded her share.

The next moment, both of them disappeared from the selection area and reappeared in the store.

Aakesh then took a step toward the portal room while Lily jumped up on the stairs connecting to his room. Since there was already a virtual portal for Lily in the room, she left for the room.

The Portal room still looked the same when Aakesh entered. Subconsciously his eyes fell upon the leaderboard. He was still at the top, Maria at second, and Evelyn at third.

Yesterday, there were only three names on the Panagea leaderboard, but now, Aakesh could see an addition of two names. Only those who had reached Level 10 in Panagea could enter the leaderboard, and until now, only five people, including Aakesh, had reached that level.

There was also a milestone reward for achieving the first. The system excluded Aakesh's name from it so he wouldn't gain any reward. But looking at the leaderboard, the closest person to get a milestone reward, for now, was Maria. She was only a level away from becoming the first adventurer, excluding Aakesh to become a rare lifeform.

Aakesh then stopped looking at the leaderboard. He found the nearest virtual portal and touched it with just the tip of his finger. The next moment, a suction force stronger than anything appeared and sucked him in, taking him to a virtual world.

Aakesh disappeared from the portal room as he reappeared at the same place from where he had exited Panagea yesterday.

He had announced an auction for today for the wolf king egg and the golden key.

Since he had put the egg of the wolf king in the wolf king camp, he needed to return there to fetch the egg.

{A/N: I have mentioned that Aakesh would need to carry the egg to the town, but in the scenes after that, there was no mention of him having that giant egg in his hands. I have now edited that chapter and added that he didn't take the egg but had put it where he had met Lily(Chapter 265). Sorry for the trouble.}

The auction was still hours away, so Aakesh first decided to check up on the information about the auction.

He turned around and left in the direction of the central area of the town to find the army chief.

A few minutes later, Aakesh entered the central area. No guards guarding the area tried to stop him since the army chief had given them orders not to engage with the adventurer in any way.

Aakesh called one of the guards and told him to call his chief here. At first, the guard wanted to refuse, as he was in the army, and discipline mattered most in the army. How could he let the army chief come personally to meet the adventurer? It should be the opposite. But after remembering the scene of the killing of the Townhead and the scene where even the army chief didn't dare to stop him from entering the central area, he didn't refuse.

He picked out some kind of communication device from his pocket and contacted his superior. His superior, after hearing that the adventurer was waiting for the army chief, didn't dare to wait and called the army chief. He was also one of the citizens who had plans to participate in the auction scheduled today, so how could he let the adventurer wait.

After hearing, the adventurer was here, the army chief stopped consoling his daughter, he then left to meet Aakesh. Elsie, on the other hand, after hearing Aakesh was here, couldn't help but gnash her teeth. She still remembered the look Aakesh had given her when he had left yesterday.

A few minutes later, the army chief appeared where Aakesh was waiting for him.

The look of enmity and hatred he had yesterday was nowhere to be seen, but instead, a fawning smile appeared on the army chief's face as he looked at the adventurer.

"Why did you come here, adventurer? There's still time left for the auction,'' The army chief respectfully asked. There was also a hint of nervousness in his voice thinking what if the adventurer decided against the auction in the spur of a moment.

"How many people have you informed about the auction?" Aakesh expressionlessly asked the army chief.

Seeing the guards surrounding the central area and the look they had for Aakesh didn't seem to signify that they had any idea about the auction.

"Adventurer, each citizen above Level 25 knows about the auction."

"I want you to inform about the auction to every citizen of the town," Aakesh ordered.

The army chief had a strange look on his face when he heard Aakesh's order, but he didn't dare to refuse and nodded to show that the work would be done.

"Adventurer, what's the format for the auction of the golden key?" The army chief suddenly asked. He had heard from Elsie that not everyone could own the golden key, so the format where the highest bidder won the key didn't make any sense.

There was also an egg of the wolf king in the auction, but the army chief didn't even seem to think about it for now as it would be long-term growth, but owning the golden key was akin to reaching the sky in a single step.

"I will explain when the auction begins.. You only need to inform every citizen of the town about the auction," Aakesh responded, and without waiting for any response, he turned around and left.
