Chapter 165 - Fortune And Misfortune

Chapter 165: Fortune and Misfortune

When Lenna cast the spell, ice appeared on the ground out of nowhere. The next moment, every Orc, including the leader of the dungeon, got frozen with different horrified expressions on their faces.

"It's too much," Lenna murmured while gasping for breath. The spell demanded a large amount of energy that's why she didn't use it at the start.

As the Orcs were only frozen, their death would still take some time. Lenna took a deep breath and rushed at them. With every swing of her sword, a frozen orc crashed to the ground in multiple pieces.

With every kill, a yellow stream of energy embraced her, which in turn made her energetic instead of getting tired.

A few minutes later, every Orc except the leader was dead.

She looked at the only standing ice statue and found an expression of unwillingness on the leader Orc's face. She didn't care what the leader felt, so she swung her sword.

The next moment, the leader's frozen head flew away.

The next moment, the leader's frozen corpse disintegrated into nothingness, and in place of it, only a red egg remained.

Finally, a slight change in her expression occurred as it was the first reward of her yellow dungeon.

She picked up the egg and crushed it the next moment.

The red egg faded into light, and in place of it, a square talisman appeared.

The square talisman was black in color, and there was a red pattern of sword engraved on it.

The next moment, a new memory appeared inside Lenna's head, explaining the talisman.

It was a talisman that Lenna could use in any dungeon, but it would be most effective in a yellow dungeon. After activation, a sword the size of a palm would appear and attack the head of Lenna's enemy.

She didn't care much about it since she was going to train a month after leaving here and was confident that she wouldn't need it to defeat the leader of any yellow dungeon.

Since there was nothing left to do, she thought of leaving the dungeon, and the next moment, a suction pressure appeared and pulled her out of the dungeon.

Since time didn't stop for anybody, time flew by, and years passed.

It has been around eight years since the participants joined the event and were fighting for the reward.

For those who had lived for millions of years, eight years were nothing, but there were many participants participating in the event who had only lived for thirty or forty years in real life.

Many of them weren't able to handle the loneliness of eight years and willingly decided to quit.

While eight years had passed inside the portal and the store, only around 45 minutes had passed in the real world.

In those 45 minutes, tens of thousands of people entered the store, and out of them, 364 people decided to join the event, taking the tally of participants to 287,111.

Out of 287,111 participants, 38,649 participants had gotten disqualified, either willingly or dying in the dungeon.

Inside the dimension,

In the eight years that had passed, many beings who had nothing to show rose and became one of the favorites to win the event by either of the three ranks.

One such being was Julian. He was only a Soul Formation level cultivator in real life, but since his father was rich, he was able to participate in the event.

In his first hunt in the green dungeon, he looked like he would get killed in every battle he fought, but somehow he was able to clear the dungeon.

His destiny changed due to the reward he got from the red egg. As if he was chosen by a god, he got one of the three top rewards anyone could get from the red egg in any color dungeon.

From the red egg, he got the skill, 'Dragon Breath'.

As its name suggested, it was the skill of Dragons. He not only got that skill. From the next dungeon hunt, he got the passive skill, 'Infinite Energy'.

Using that skill, he could use Dragon breath as many times as he wanted without any issue of saving energy. Using the combination of these two skills, he cleared dungeons as if an Elephant in rage clears a field of crops.

He was the first participant to clear the orange and the blue dungeon.

Even Aakesh was dumbfounded by the luck of Julian. If not for his unbelievable luck, he wouldn't even be able to clear a yellow dungeon, and now he had cleared orange and blue dungeons and was going for the white dungeon next.

Julian wasn't the only participant to get overpowered due to luck. Maria was also one of the participants who were able to survive until now due to her luck.

When Aakesh announced the event, she only had 15 top Primal stones in her space ring. She decided to gamble since her entire wealth was due to Aakesh not caring for Primal stones.

Unlike Julian, she didn't clear starting dungeons only based on her luck.

She cleared green dungeons on her own and was also able to clear a yellow dungeon without getting any outrageous reward.

Her luck changed for the better when she killed the leader of her second hunt in the yellow dungeon. The red egg she received after killing the leader awarded her one of the top two rewards available to any participant.

She got the system Necromancer and many skills of it as the reward.

The system and its skills helped her gain control of each enemy she killed. With each kill, she grew stronger and almost unbeatable.

The dungeons inside the world had a rule that anything other than the reward from the red egg couldn't be taken into another dungeon, but the system Necromancer bypassed it, and Maria could take her undead army into other dungeons.

While there were many beings who had outrageous luck, there were also many beings who had terrible fortunes.

One such being was George. He cleared around two hundred dungeons of different colors in the last eight years, and only in three out of these two hundred dungeons had he gotten any reward from the red egg.

If not for his natural talent in fighting, he would've never been able to come this far in the event.
