Chapter 77 - Rewards

Chapter 77: Rewards

Time flew by, and a few hours had passed. Aakesh still was fighting with the wolves, but the situation was different. He was fighting while the wolves were running away from him.

He fought the wolves until the border of the Wolfden, as chasing them further could lead to a counterattack from the wolves. If the wolf king appeared, even he would be in danger, let alone other townspeople.

He returned to the group of the guards after chasing the wolves out. The loud cheers of the guards welcomed him. He only expressionlessly watched the scene and waited for his rewards.

Aakesh was confident that he had completed the mission successfully, but he wasn't sure by how much percentage he had reduced the casualties.

"Adventurer, thank you for saving us!" One of the guards stepped forward and thanked Aakesh with a bow.

"It wasn't a big deal," He responded without any expression on his face.

"Would you join us for the feast? We would have the feast to celebrate our victory over wolves," The guard then asked.

"No need, I have some things to do!" Aakesh refused straight away, as he had no thoughts of mingling with the guards, and he had already spent way much time in Panagea.

"Oh… it's unfortunate. You joining our feast would've made us grateful, and we also wanted to thank you for saving so many of our brothers," The guard said with a disappointed expression.

Right then, a man appeared out of nowhere in the group of guards. Every guard, including the guard who spoke to Aakesh, saluted toward the newly appeared man.

"How many of our brothers we lost today?" He asked in a hoarse voice.

"Chief, the counting of the dead is still going on..., but we've got fewer... casualties than the previous wolves waves," One guard came running down as he answered while gasping for breath.

The man whom the guard called chief turned around and looked at Aakesh. "Thank you for saving our brothers!" He then thanked him with a bow to his waist.

"No need, I was just doing the quest," Aakesh expressionlessly responded.

"Still, we need to thank you! Due to your massacre of the wolves, the town of Wolfden would be safe for years as the wolves need to recuperate and reproduce for several years if they want to attack the city again," The man said with a smile.

"What about the wolf king?" Aakesh asked the man as he had read that the king of the horde at least moves with millions of wolves. Replenishing the wolves group isn't hard for the wolf king after having so many followers.

"The wolf king can't attack our town, as there is a deal between our head and the wolf king," The army chief responded.

The chief of the Wolfden was on the same level as the wolf king, so if it attacked the town, the town-head would interfere and fight with it. Since no one can't kill each other, they had made a deal that the king would never order its horde to attack Wolfden. The wolf king was at a loss in this deal, so it refused to accept it. The town-head then proposed another deal that only wolves without any energy could attack the town, whereas the guards who can't manipulate energy would fight those wolves.

Right then, a blue screen appeared in front of him with letters appearing.

[Adventurer, the town of Wolfden thanks you for fighting for its citizens.

In your fight against the wolves, you killed more than 20,000 wolves, saving lives of many guards of the town.

The casualties during the last wave were 1400. This time it was only 764, so you reduced the number of deaths by more than 40%.

Your reward for helping the townspeople are (i) The ability to manipulate energy, (ii) a new skill, 'Wolfbane'.]

The screen then disappeared while a blue light engulfed Aakesh the next moment. All the guards looked at the scene with jealousy in their eyes. They knew Aakesh had gained the ability to manipulate energy, and now he could grow stronger using the energy of the world. They also wanted to be there where Aakesh was.

"Congratulation, Adventurer! You can now grow stronger without any limit," The chief congratulated Aakesh.

Aakesh only nodded in response and tried to sense the energy in the atmosphere. He could feel clusters in the air, but when he tried to call them, nothing happened.

"It would still take time to be able to manipulate the energy of the atmosphere. Currently, you can only manipulate the energy inside you," The chief smilingly commented, seeing Aakesh's efforts.

"Since you've gained the ability to manipulate energy, you can now see your status. It would show all your details," The chief told Aakesh a piece of new information.

"Thank you!" Aakesh expressionlessly thanked the chief and thought of the status.

The next moment, a blue screen with golden fonts appeared in front of him, containing all his details.

Personal Status:

Name: Aakesh,

Agility: 10,

Endurance: -0-,

Comprehensions: Hand fighting (30%), Archery (100%), Swordsmanship (100%),...

Aakesh nodded after reading his details. Except hand fighting, he had 100% comprehension in every weapon-fighting, Alchemy, Smithing, etc.

He only had one skill, and that too he had gained as a reward. He then thought of the details of the skill, and the next moment, a new window containing information about it appeared on the top of the status screen.

[Skill name: Wolfbane,

Level: Level 1,

Ability: It gives the user a psychological edge over the wolves. No mental effect of wolves below Level 10 would occur on the user, and similarly, the wolves below Level 3 will fear the user, wolves below Level 5 have only a minimal effect, and wolves between Level 5 and 10 may or may not get affected by the user,

Condition of growth: Train the skill to perfection.]

"Useless!" Aakesh mumbled after reading the details of the skill. He wasn't going to fight with the wolves all the time, so there was no point in this skill as even without this skill, he could kill wolves below Level 10.

"Did you not get good attri-" The chief asked after hearing Aakesh's mumble, but the next moment his words came to a stop as Aakesh disappeared.
