Chapter 122 - 122 Who Dared To Said It?

122 Who Dared To Said It?

Zhao Chuchu looked at Xie Heng deeply upon hearing that. Then, she said, “I feel like you know a lot of things.”

Xie Heng choked for a moment but quickly shifted the conversation away from the topic. “I’m just thinking of Junjun.”

“Sure you are!” Zhao Chuchu remarked silently inside.

“It’s normal for you to doubt me,” Xie Heng laughed. He seemed to disagree with Zhao Chuchu. “I can tell you if you really want to know.”

“No, no, no, I won’t listen,” said Zhao Chuchu as she covered her ears. “John died because he knew too many things.”

“Who’s John?” asked Xie Heng, frowning slightly. “Is that someone important to you?”

“Hmm, he and Sarah are good friends,” Zhao Chuchu said. These two names dominated all of her elementary school textbooks back then.

When Xie Heng heard that there was a Sarah, his brows flattened out again.

“Let’s go. We should go back soon. Let’s stop wasting time here. Otherwise, it will be very late when we return.” Zhao Chuchu grabbed Xie Heng’s arm and tugged him as she walked forward.

Xie Heng lowered his head to look at the place where Zhao Chuchu was grabbing, and his lips curled up slightly.

Zhao Chuchu didn’t notice Xie Heng’s actions at all. Instead, she told Xie Heng they should buy some pork before returning home, as she wanted to try braised foods.

Xie Heng didn’t feel annoyed at all listening to Zhao Chuchu talk about these trivial matters. On the contrary, he even felt quite happy about it.

He enjoyed such interactions in their daily lives.

“Do you know how to make it?” Zhao Chuchu suddenly turned back and looked toward Xie Heng.

Xie Heng nodded and said, “I can try.”

“Nice, I can always trust you when it comes to cooking,” Zhao Chuchu said, with her eyes curled into a crescent.

Xie Heng went silent for a while, then said, “What about other things?”

“I can’t really tell right now. That’ll depend on your actions in the future.”

Zhao Chuchu blinked.

Her eyes glimmered like stars in the night sky, shining into Xie Heng’s heart.

Xie Heng felt his heartbeat becoming a little messy.

“Actually, braised pork head is pretty good, but I don’t know how to clean up a pork head. That smell can make anyone lose appetite.”

“You like it?”

“As long as it’s against humanity, I can accept any food.”

“Alright, then we can try it.”

Since Xie Heng had agreed, Zhao Chuchu started pondering whether she should buy a pork head later.

There was no need to buy the ingredients for the brine since she had those in her carry-on space.

When the two of them returned to the hotel, Xie Jun jumped over and asked, “Sis, where did you and my brother go? Why are you only back now? I was so worried about you.”

Zhao Chuchu didn’t really like kids in the past.

But it was very difficult to dislike Xie Jun.

Because of the poison that flared up frequently and weakened his body, Xie Jun appeared younger than other children his age. However, he’s exceptionally well-behaved and obedient. He never troubles other people if he’s able to do something himself.

“There was a patient in critical condition, and we didn’t have time to get someone to send a message back. Sorry for making you worried, Junjun.” Zhao Chuchu crouched down and looked into Xie Jun’s eyes as she said, “We’ll remember to get someone to send a message back next time.”

“As long as you’re okay, it’s alright. Saving people is more important,” Xie Jun said hurriedly. “I don’t mind waiting.”

“Good boy.” Zhao Chuchu rubbed his head and said to the Niu brothers, “Let’s go back.”

“Is it done now?” Niu An asked. “Niu Ziming…”

“Niu Ziming is in jail right now, waiting to be exiled,” Zhao Chuchu said. “Uncle Niu, do you want to save him?”

“No, no, no,” Niu An hurriedly denied, “I just want to stay as far away as possible from someone like that. Who knows if he might push my children into the water when he’s feeling grumpy someday?”

If Zhao Chuchu weren’t such a good doctor, Xie Jun would have died by now.

Niu Ziming is an attempted murderer, and no one would be willing to get close to a murderer.

“Let’s go back then.”

Before exiting the county, Zhao Chuchu and Xie Heng dropped by the butcher’s shop.

There were usually more people buying meat in the morning. By afternoon, there weren’t many customers at the shop.

“Hello, how much for pork?”

“60 cents per kilogram.”

That’s expensive.

They were all out of pork belly. Instead, they had some bones with almost all the meat sliced off, a pork head, a hind leg, and some leftover meat from other parts.

“I’ll take them all. Can you make it cheaper?”

“50 cents per kilo. I’ll get off work after this,” the butcher said readily. “You can take the pork head for 30 cents.”

Zhao Chuchu did a quick calculation. It was not expensive at all. Besides, this meat can be eaten for several days after braising.

The butcher bagged up everything for her. After paying for the meat, Xie Heng took the bag and returned to the carriage with Zhao Chuchu.

Niu An asked, “Chuchu, why did you buy pork head? Pork heads are tough to clean. It has a pretty bad smell.”

“We can clean it,” Zhao Chuchu put down the bags and said. “You can come to have a taste when we’re done cooking.”

“Hahaha, no need. I was just trying to remind you. If you have a way to clean it, just ignore what I said,” Niu An laughed and said.

“The dishes that my sis comes up with are all delicious,” Xie Jun smacked his lips and said. “I really want to eat the potato fries that Sis cooked last time.”

“You can’t eat too much of those. When you’re cured, I’ll cook as much as you want.”

“Oh, okay, I’ll listen to Sis.”

By the time the group reached the village again, it was already evening.

News about Niu Ziming being sentenced to exile had spread across the village.

All those people who pestered Zhao Chuchu and tried to take advantage of her were terrified, especially Madam Yang. She acted as if she had seen a ghost whenever she saw Zhao Chuchu. She didn’t even dare to appear in front of her anymore.

Look at what happened to Niu Ziming.

He was a scholar! There was no way for them to be more capable than Niu Ziming.

Zhao Baogen, who had been thinking about seeking revenge this whole time, immediately abandoned that thought.

Madam Yang sobbed, “Hubby, please stop trying to look for trouble with Zhao Chuchu. Changrong might die because of this. She is so ruthless and cruel. She’s not human! Let’s just wait and see what kind of retribution she will receive in the future. Xie Heng’s eyes are cured now, and he will take the exams sooner or later. When he gets chosen to be an official, he will definitely divorce her!”

Zhao Baogen clenched his teeth and didn’t say anything.

He had once been hopeful about Niu Ziming becoming his son-in-law, so he gave silent consent to the relationship between Niu Ziming and Zhao Zhizhi.

Zhao Chuchu liked Niu Ziming, but she was just a cover for Zhao Zhizhi and Niu Ziming.

But who dared to say it out loud?

“I’ll just wait to see when she’ll run out of luck,” Zhao Baogen said after a long silence. “I don’t believe that everything will go her way for the rest of her life!”

Madam Ma finally felt at ease.

She hated Zhao Chuchu because she caused Zhao Zhizhi’s death.

But Zhao Chuchu wasn’t that little girl they could control and toy with anymore.

“Remind Changrong later to stay away from Zhao Chuchu. Tell the others as well. We can’t afford to provoke that demon.”

“Yup, I know.”

Madam Yang thought so too. Other than their families, Old Madam Ma thought the same way as well.

Those who bullied the original owner were terrified of Zhao Chuchu. So they tried their best to hide away from Zhao Chuchu and refused to show up in front of her.

But those people who formed good relationships with Zhao Chuchu felt that she was even more dependable than before.

After Niu Ziming was sentenced to exile, those barbaric, unreasonable families in the village would have to rethink their actions before trying to bully innocent folks.

One could say that Zhao Chuchu set an excellent example for the honest people in the village.

Of course, Zhao Chuchu didn’t know about any of this. Now, she was helping Xie Heng make the brine for the braised pork.
