The corner of the man’s lips twitched a little. “A lady shouldn’t be so cruel.”

Zhao Chuchu grinned. “Do you want to have a taste of it too?”

The man quickly turned and said, “I’ll go get them right away.”

“You can run away, but the next time we meet, it’s either you breaking your knee or me breaking my arm.”

The man couldn’t help but sigh when he heard that.

He could not believe that there existed such a cruel woman.

As the man left, the people from the Zhao clan got terrified.

“Chuchu! It’s me, your second uncle! I was just joking with you just now! Can’t you let us go? Your first uncle threatened me to do this! He said he was going to kill me if I didn’t! I shouldn’t have given in to him! Aren’t we a family, after all? I’ll promise you anything you want as long as you let me go.”

Pretending she was getting something out of her bag, she grabbed some sunflower seeds from her carry-on space and started munching them.

No matter how much the people from the Zhao clan begged, she wasn’t moved.

She had already given them two chances, but they’d only gotten even worse, thinking they could easily use or bully her because she was a lady.

That was why the lady had decided to show them that she wasn’t someone they could mess with.

Zhao Chuchu wasn’t worried that the man who was watching her in secret would run away on his own either.

After having survived the apocalypse for such a long time, she was susceptible to whether other people harbored any ill-intention towards her or not.

She could tell that the man stalked her because he needed her help.

The people from the Zhao clan kept screaming and yelling until their throats almost dried when the man returned with a group of strong men.

Zhao Baogen and the rest still had their faces hidden while their sickles and hoes were scattered across the floor.

“These are the bandits,” the man said as he pointed at them.

The strong men that came with him quickly surrounded those sitting or lying on the ground.

The one who led the strong men was the village chief, and he was acquainted with Zhao Chuchu. “Doctor Zhao, are you hurt anywhere?”

The lady had noticed them coming a minute ago and had stopped munching on the sunflower seeds. Her eyes turned red as she said in a shaky voice, “I-I didn’t know there were bandits here… Thank God he saved me in time, or else God knows what they’ll do to me.”

The people from the Zhao clan were so enraged when they heard her say that.

They couldn’t believe that the person who had almost crippled them was now pretending to be a weak little girl.

The man also had an awkward expression as he never laid his hands on the people.

The village chief was angry to hear that. “How dare you people try to rob a young lady in broad daylight? Take them to the county office!”

“Chief! We aren’t bandits! We are all from the Lengshui Village!” Zhao Baogen yelled while trying to endure the pain. “Look at us! Zhao Chuchu did this to us! We didn’t try to rob her! Instead, she was the one who hit us, her elders! She even broke our legs! How are we going to work now?”

Seeing how begging Zhao Chuchu would not help, they decided to try and trick the village chief instead.

With a frown, the chief unmasked them. He recognized them as he would head to the Lengshui Village once every year to collect taxes.

And indeed, they were from the village.

The chief’s expression darkened immediately.

Zhao Baogen noticed it and added, “See! It’s all Zhao Chuchu’s fault! I’m her uncle! We’re all from the same village! We are not bandits!”

“How are you not a bandit? You tried to rob her on her way back!” the man suddenly said. “If I hadn’t come at the right time, you guys would’ve taken her stuff and even sold her to the brothel! Is this what her uncle would do?”
