Chapter 81 - Lucas Disappears

Chapter 81 Lucas Disappears

The next morning, Maisy woke up early. She touched her side and found that Jay was gone. She was confused. Was he going to pack up so early? She got up to see where Jay had gone. Just as she opened the door, she heard Jay’s voice.

“Then can’t I work remotely?” Jay frowned and his voice was very cold. She didn’t know what was said on the other end of the phone, but he hung up the phone.

“What’s wrong?” Maisy asked curiously when she saw him hang up the phone.

Jay didn’t look very happy right now. “I might have to stay in the capital for a few days first,” Jay said in frustration. He really didn’t want to leave Maisy.

“It’s okay.” Although she felt a little regretful, Maisy knew that she shouldn’t interfere with work matters.

“I will go back soon after I finish dealing with these matters.” Jay walked forward and hugged Maisy.

“Okay.” Maisy patted his back. “I will wait for you at home. I will go with Lucas.”

Jay was a little touched. At this moment, he really realized that he and Maisy’s relationship was more intimate. He thought that they could go back together, but now, Maisy could only leave by herself. The atmosphere of parting made both of them uncomfortable. Jay was really reluctant to part with her now that a sense of intimacy had just been established. The moment he sent Maisy onto the plane, he felt that he was about to cry. As Maisy watched the plane leaving the ground, she suddenly felt calmer. No matter what, she didn’t like this place, the capital. After landing, Maisy told Jay that she landed safely. The first thing she did after that was to prepare to pick up Lucas.

Before she came back, she didn’t tell Lucas in advance, but only told her friends. She just hoped that she could give her son a surprise, but — after waiting for a long time, she still didn’t see him. Maisy called Lucas’ teacher in confusion. Could it be that he was detained by the teacher?

“What’s wrong, Miss Owen?” The teacher was surprised to receive the call.

“I didn’t see Lucas. Is he detained?” Maisy asked nervously.

“What? Lucas was picked up in the afternoon. Could it have been your friend?” The teacher was a little shocked. “Do you need me to check for you?”

“Let me ask first. If I need you, I’ll contact you again, okay?”

The teacher agreed readily and comforted her. “Lucas is very independent and smart. He must have left because he knew the person!”

After hanging up the phone, Maisy quickly called her best friend.

“I know you would come back today, so I didn’t pick up the child,” her best friend said in surprise. “Also, Lucas said he wanted to take the school bus, so he didn’t let me pick him up from school. I always waited at the gate of the neighborhood.”

Maisy realized that something was wrong, and her hands and feet started to feel cold. She didn’t tell anyone else about Lucas’s whereabouts except her best friend. Who was it? Many bad thoughts flashed through her mind, and the first thing Maisy wanted to do was to ask Jay for help. He was so powerful, so he would definitely be able to find out!

Maisy took out her phone and told herself to calm down. Then, she dialed Jay’s number. However, it kept showing that he was on the phone. She had been relying on Jay for the past two days, and Maisy felt that she was about to get carried away again. She shook her head. Since she couldn’t get into contact with him, she could only think of a way to find him on her own!
