The man in the car was Jay, and from where he sat, the two looked like they cuddled together, sharing an intimate moment. An unexplainable rush of anger rose inexplicably in his throat, and he shoved the door open to spring himself towards the florist shop.

Maisy had affixed an indignant expression on her face, and it turned into surprise when she saw who had bolted through the entrance. “What are you doing here?” she asked in confusion.

Jay pushed her behind him in a protective stance, and his eyes were defensive and hostile. It was the opposite for Collin since he displayed neither fear nor guilt. Instead, he smiled faintly at the intruder.

“Ttold you not to touch my girl, Collin, Mark my words,” Jay warned. With a completely blank expression, his flawless features were still amazingly stunning. Despite that, his face only seemed colder and emptier with the tension brewing.

Collin didn’t respond with fear, and the hint of a smile remained plastered to his face. He angled his body ever so slightly so that the petite figure behind the tall man was within his sight, and his smile broadened. “I’ll see you here the next morning.”

Before she could say anything in return, Jay had picked her up, cradled her close, and marched out of the door. He was only harsh when he swept her off her feet but was gentle on her the rest of the trip to his car until he placed her in the car seat. On the driver’s seat was the driver, and he was too stunned

to speak.

“Drive.”

It was silent inside the Bentley, not even the hum of the car’s engine. An awkward tension filled the space in the already soundless confined space. Maisy could only focus her attention on the view outside of the window, and she couldn’t comprehend what got on his nerves. She did nothing wrong but

looked for a job. Yet, he was mad about it and aggressive towards her new employer as well.

“You should switch jobs. Being my assistant and making tea for me is so much better than being the caretaker of another man’s flowers,” Jay said.

Maisy knitted her brows together. “No. I’m not quitting.”

Her attitude ticked him off again. What spell did Collin cast on her exactly, that she was bent on working for him?

He stood his ground. “That’s not your call. You’ll do as I say.”

Head leaned against the glass, and there were no words that came out of Maisy’s lips again. She felt a desolation that separated him and her. He was the one who had allowed her to get a job she desired, and when she came across a simple position in a non-stress work environment, he expressed his

dissatisfaction that would force her to quit.

No. Maisy loved the room full of flower fragrance and the vibrant colors of the roses making the room alive. She needed to fight back. “Why should I? I was the one who’d found a job for myself. How could you say no after all of that?”

He slithered towards her in the car until their skin touched. Since he could barely fit in the backseat due to his height, the uncomfortable distance between them was almost depressing. She had nowhere to dodge, her shoulders slumping even more as he closed in on her. He gripped her chin too hard that

she jolted in pain, and her brows tightly creased.

“Why would you insist on working for him? Is one sugar daddy not enough for you, that you’re preparing yourself for your next target once you give birth to my baby?” Jay blurted in irony.

Dumbfounded, she almost popped her eyes at his snide comments towards her. “I’m not!”

It brought angry tears of injustice to her eyes, and when she couldn’t hold on any longer, the tears started trickling down her cheeks.

He caught one of her tears with his fingers. When she sobbed, she seemed like a poor little pup with nowhere to go to get out of the rain. He saw through her vulnerability, and it would always draw out his compassion for her. And now, her eyes were bloodshot, her face gaunt and flush. As it pained him to

see her weep, he lowered his head and aimed for her soft lips to put a stop at her sobs and hurt feelings.

Maisy could only glare at him with her big, wide eyes. She couldn’t resist or struggle due to the limited available space in the backseat of the car.

‘When he cupped the back of her head and pulled her close, he deepened the kiss. His tongue thrust further in, swirling until theirs became tangled. She grew weak in his arms, and she rested her palms on his shoulders limply..
